On 11/4/2022, I purchased a 2008 Ford F350 from ***** at Shocked Auto. On 11/11 the truck began to lose power while I was towing a 1965 Ford Mustang in route from Missouri to California. I immediately took it into a Ford dealership in Independence, Missouri for evaluation. To my dismay, I have been told the truck needs a new engine and it had to have had prior problems before I purchased it. I notified ***** and he apologized and notified me he does not test all of his vehicles, but he has not offered any sort of refund being that I paid 15,000 for the truck and it's broken down a week later. ***** referred me to a shop that he uses in Independence, Missouri and they told me they won't even work on the 6.4 diesel engine at all because they're garbage. This was my first diesel truck and I was told by three different shops something that ***** already knew, which is the 6.4 motor power stroke diesel engine is the worst that they have in Ford trucks. I wasn't aware of this and I would like my money back. He also knew with close to 200,000 miles on it, the truck wouldn't last much longer. I feel like I've been taken advantage of and would like to be compensated.Business response

To whom it may concern:
On 11/4/2022, Mr. ********** purchased a 2008 Ford F-350 Shocked Auto Source. At this time, the vehicle had no known issues, nor any latent defects.
It is our understanding that Mr. ********** began to drive the truck from Missouri to California. Mr. ********** has alleged that at some point during his journey, the truck began displaying symptoms of mechanical issues. Mr. ********** took the truck to a Ford dealership in Independence, Missouri; the dealership technicians diagnosed the truck as needing a new engine.
Our representative, ***** ********, has been in contact with Mr. ********** since the purported issues arose. Mr. ******** notified Mr. ********** that he, nor any other affiliate of Shocked Auto Source had any knowledge of any mechanical issues. Further, the auction we purchased the vehicle from had conducted an inspection of the vehicle and noted no engine problems (see the attached condition report).
Mr. ********** claimed that our representative told him that we do not test our vehicles. I believe Mr. ********** may have misunderstood Mr. ********’s statement, as he meant that we do not have our vehicles inspected by a third-party before selling them. However, we do have our representatives check all of our vehicles to make sure they are sound before we sell them. Further, we give every customer an opportunity to inspect the vehicle themselves or have a mechanic inspect it at their cost. In this case, Mr. ********** was provided with ample opportunity to inspect the vehicle on our premises; further, our representative accompanied Mr. ********** in test driving the truck to ensure that it would meet his needs.
Further, Mr. ********** claimed that the truck, and all other trucks with the 6.4L motor are defective in some way. Additionally, he claimed that we knew the truck “wouldn’t last much longer;” however, this is simply untrue. We frequently sell vehicles, particularly diesel trucks, with over 200,000 miles. These trucks often last well beyond 200,000 miles. Given the fact that Mr. ********** was aware of the vehicle’s mileage prior to purchasing the vehicle and had ample opportunity to inspect the vehicle or have it inspected by a third party, we will not be compensating Mr. ********** for any purported damages that he claims to have suffered.
We never want a customer to be dissatisfied with their vehicle; however, we do not intend to refund Mr. Washington. Prior to the sale, our representative discussed that our vehicles are sold ‘As Is — No Dealer Warranty’. Please see the attached FTC Buyer’s Guide, in which Mr. ********** acknowledged that the vehicle had no warranty.
Please let me know if you have any questions or need further documentation.
Thank you,***** ********** ******** ******* ******* **** ****** ************* *************************
