According to information in BBB files this company has a pattern of complaints alleging customer service issues, quality issues, communication and refund issues. Specifically, customer complaints allege and refund issues. This company sells steaks and other meat products from a mobile food vending truck and travels to different locations across the United States. Customer complaints report the product was really misleading, very poor quality, and not worth the money being charged. Other customers report steaks are inedible but are being advertised as comparable to "Omaha Steak" brand. Some customers are reporting dissatisfaction when trying to return the product and unable to find company contact information to request a refund.
In March, 2018 I Lois Gatlin Lokey formed an LLC and changed the company name to Star Steak Company, LLC.
On March 2, 2021, Star Steak Company, LLC offered the following response to BBB's request to address the pattern of customer complaints.
"My business began on or about January 1, 2010. "Our customer's are very important to us, and we strive to provide the best experience possible.
Company sales are improving each year due to our commitment to improving our customer service and providing the best product for those Special Tent Sales Events. Those events are set-up at different locations across the U.S. I sell in bulk and usually stay at a location for 30 days and back to each location about once a year.
When I began the business in 2010, I was the only business that did tent sales. In recent years, more than 15 companies have copied my business strategy.
When I go to a city to do a sales event, I obtain all the proper permits which includes a Health Permit and I provide an Approved Source Letter that we have to give the Health Departments to obtain that Health Permit. I do a marketing campaign that draws a lot of attention not only to customers but to local competitors as well as those who have copied my business strategy.
Please take note that in my earlier years of business I rarely had complaints. My successful growth has empowered me to spend more time and money on marketing and customer service, and, I truly believe that most of my complaints are generated and fostered from my competitors.
Also, take note that almost all of the complaints to BBB were generated during the time of the sale and were running in that particular city. The customer had ample opportunity to return the product for a refund. But instead, they contacted BBB asking for a refund. Our contact information is on our sales receipt. We respond to all customer complaints because we want our customers to be happy.
Finally, because we sell in bulk a few of our customers have buyer's remorse and are acting in good faith, but there are some who are not. Happy customers do not contact BBB.
While Star Steak Company believes it has resolved the service issues after making changes to customer requests and seeing a decrease in complaints, BBB will continue to monitor the situation over the next 6 months.
