Hattiesburg Cycle sold us a damaged 2024 ****** YZ250f that they already had a damage claim in with the manufacturer. Also they over charged us sales tax and lied that I could submit a refund from state of *********, which I knew was BS. I told them the correct tax was 7.95% but was charged 9.5% which still was not correct if they were to charge for with city tax included. They also didn't honor or mention the manufacturer's $750 customer rebate. The bike was not properly assembled and possibly not tested. The clutch cable was not properly adjusted electric start intermittently doesn't start. The fact the unit was damaged and not disclosed at sale. I would like this unit to be replaced and get a refund on over charged taxes and rebate due.Business response

The salesperson reached out to the customer and explained that we use a titling company for out of state deals and we have to collect the posted tax rate for that Parish which was 9.5%. If there is any overpay, then a refund for that amount is mailed to the customer. Also, we did make sure they got the rebate plus additional discounts from us on the purchase. As far as the muffler goes, It had a slight ding in it and that could have happened on the floor by another customer or us but we already had a replacement ordered and it will be replaced. We have been in business since 1985, so we know how to collect taxes and we do not force anyone to take delivery of anything they are not happy with.Initial Complaint

We bought a lemon of a side by side and ran it for three hours and it broke and they would not take it back or warranty the piece that broke. When I tried to buy a different one I lost 3000 dollars that they didn’t tell me about another credit card I had to open. Terrible after sales approachBusiness response

First of all the machine is not a Lemon. The customer shredded the belt because it shows signs of being ran at full throttle for long period of time without being broken in properly. Belts are clearly not a warranty part, but sometimes the manufacturer will goodwill one for the customer. I personally told the customer to let us fight the manufacturer to try and get the part covered, but he didn't want to do that. He insisted on getting some other brand. We didn't have to take the machine back, we are only obligated to fix it warranty or not. I have attached the form where he acknowledged the 2 different payments and also the sales slip where he signed for it.Initial Complaint

I purchased a brand new UTV from this dealership in September of 2021. I had the machine until March of 2022 when it blew a head gasket. The machine was and still is under warranty. Hattiesburg cycles has blown the engine twice that I know of trying to fix my machine and I have made payments on time every time and have not received any sort of compensation from them or the manufacturer. Next month (March 2023) will be a year that they have had my machine and I have not laid my eyes on it. This has hurt me financially and mentally as it has been very stressful. I have tried handling this issue my self but no one will help me. ThanksBusiness response

i ordered a slingshot got here in october they put things on there to make the price of the slingshot told me that wasn’t enough down payment that would had to get get both insurance without telling me or showing me the insurance price also i would had to get a bank card i would had to borrow 4100.00 turn out the yard is from hattiesburg cycle i never saw the paperwork until 3 days later and i took a picture of it i think they are fisciminating used unfair tactics getting u locked in sign papers before showing u all the true numbers for it i never would have bought the slingshot if they would charge me 12000 more for the slingshot this was not fair i had to pay more money down in order to get them to take there insurance off and i don’t know if they did i haven’t received the paperwork to know the breakdown on how much i paid for the slingshot salesman hairston told me i would get the paperwork it’s been three months and still no response all i ask is to be tested fairly not hiding everythingBusiness response

I apologize for any confusion that may have went on during Mr. ******** transaction. We do not use unfair tactics and are upfront and disclose every thing to the customer. The Yard Card is not backed by Hattiesburg Cycles, we offer that to customers so they can purchase any accessories, or extended warranty at a cheaper interest rate rather than adding into the contract. Sometimes lenders do require more down without added protection. We did refund the transaction with Yard Card and I have attached the new Bill of Sale, the worksheet where Mr. ******** agreed to the price without the added accessory, and also the disclosure of the protection package that he chose with the two different payments.Initial Complaint

I purchased a dirtbike for my grandson from hattiesburg cycles on December 17, 2021. He is 13 years old and has never had his own bike. He has always dreamed of having this dirtbike for qs long as I can remember. It was a gift for his birthday, (December 22) as well as christmas. It's a 2022 kayo 140. It was $2000 plus financing, taxes, and fees. I payed $500 cash for a down payment. After we got it home, my grandson rode it for about 2 hours, and it died. We were unable to start it again. We took it back to hattiesburg right before Christmas for repair. They had it a few days when we called and inquired about the repair. They said that they had to take a part off of another bike they had there so his bike would be fixed. We brought it home again and it ran for about an hour and it died again. We took it back to hattiesburg cycles again in the beginning of January 2022 for another repair. They have had it since. I refuse to make any payments on the bike because I do not have possession of it. They have had it for over a month now and i call at least once a week to check the status of the repair. Every time I call they tell me they had to order parts and they do not have any status update on the bike.. I want them to take responsibility for this issue and replace this motorcycle or repair the one I purchased and return it to us. The finance company is calling me requesting payment and I have told them the same I am telling you. They said that hattiesburg cycles won't even return their calls inquiring about the issue. I demand some type of action from this company. That is not how business is conducted. I signed a contract that day with the promise of a 2022 kayo dirtbike that is to function 100% properly as a new one is supposed to. They did not hold up to their end of the agreement. I want my down-payment back as well as cancelation of the contract. I will take my business elsewhere.Business response

We are doing everything we can to get the dirt bike fixed and returned to Mrs. ******* and her grandson. When it came in before Christmas and when we found out the part that we needed was on backorder, we took one from another bike that had the same part number so her grandson would have it for Christmas. The bike is now back in our service department and has a different issue that is keeping it from running, and unfortunately we do not have that same part available to us. We have been in contact with the manufacturer of the motorcycle to get the part ASAP, but due to supply chain issues that everyone in the world is dealing with, it has been delayed. We have also talked to the finance company numerous times and have told them that we are doing the best that we can to get it fixed and returned to the customer. The finance contract that Mrs. ******* signed is between her and the finance company and not Hattiesburg Cycles. The bike left here in perfect running condition when they took delivery of the bike. Also there are no refunds or returns on unit purchases. All we are obligated to do as a dealer is to fix the machine under warranty, and only if it is something covered under warranty. Again, we are putting as much pressure as we can on the manufacturer to get us the part we need.
