Since I am still looking for a car, I was intrigued when Carolina Volkswagen reached out to me and told me about their end-of-the-month sale. Going against my gut instinct telling me this was another sham, I gave them a second chance. Unfortunately, my instinct was right. For the second time in less than a month, I was brought into a web of lies, deceit, and trickery.I told them that due to the high APR rates if you finance through their lenders, I decided to go with outside financing through the credit union for an auto loan up to $20,000 and wanted to stay within that amount. Then, I asked if they had any reasonable cars within that price range. They told me that they had several vehicles within my price range. Specifically, they had at least five new Jettas, fresh off the truck, within that price range.Fifteen text messages later, I arrived to buy my new Jetta! Upon my arrival, I asked for the person who had been texting me. When he came to greet me, he informed me that he was not the person texting me and had no idea that I was still in the market for a car. Though shocked, I was still excited about buying a new car. Shortly after being told that an unknown person at the dealership had been texting me, I was informed that the new Jettas referenced within the text messages did not exist. Instead, there was only 1 Jetta that fit within my price range. This Jetta was an almost 5-year-old car, had ****** miles on it, and was covered in scratches and a strange white substance. Needless to say, I was very disappointed.Todays experience reminded me of the evil within the car-selling industry. Some dealers will lie, engage in false advertisements, pretend to be someone they are not, and do other unethical things to get you in the door. Then, once you arrive, ******* you with lies, misinformation, and options you will regret if pursued. These are the types of people that I warn my students about. I drove out of town to Carolina volkswagen because this dealership advertised a transmission fluid change service for $269.98. When I get to the dealership I'm then told the service will cost $ ****** plus tax. Because of the transmission in my car. I let the service consultant know that I specifically drove out of town to their dealership because of the price . I also let the consultant know that no where on their website does it list a cost for a separate dsg service. The consultant then tells me that they are working on getting their website updated. I let her know they are doing false advertisements and their website needs to specify if the transmission change cost will be more for different trims of my car model. I ask to speak to a manager and I'm told the manager is off and will be back on Monday. I let them know again I drove over an hour to have the service done at the price advertised . Instead of being empathetic to my concern and admitting themselves that their website needs to be updated to show accurate pricing . They tell me their is nothing they can do.Business response

I am rejecting this response because: I do not have a diesel engine in my jetta. I have a 2013 jetta gli which has a 2.0 turbocharged engine that runs on petrol not diesel .Business response

I discussed a deal with them via email. They clearly stated they would agree to an offer by email and text. I sent them the paperwork needed and we arranged a meeting time. I drove 3.5 hours there only to be told they were not going to do the agreed upon deal. The sales manager was very rude and disrespectful. They flat out lied and didn't care. If you state you are doing a deal, then you do it, as clearly specified. You don't change it. No integrity. I demand $400 for wasting my time and mileage.Customer response

On 06/29/2023, ********************** inquired via email about a car that Carolina Volkswagen had in stock for sale. Before ********************** was to come to the dealership he asked for preliminary figures to be presented in regards to sale price and trade value. Carolina Volkswagen provided preliminary figures on his, sight unseen, trade. ********************** rejected these figures and cut off contact with Carolina Volkswagen on 07/12/2023. On 07/19/2023 ********************** reached out to Carolina Volkswagen again about a possible purchase and trade. Unfortunately, between the period of 06/29/2023 and 07/21/2023 the preliminary figures presented on the sight unseen trade had changed. ********************** was made aware of this prior to him traveling to Carolina Volkswagen. I have attached the text thread for your and ************************** review.

I am rejecting this response because:Lies and more lies.
They state the numbers changes after 7/12, but the 7/19 and 7/20 texts clearly states they will still accept the numbers.
The 7/20 text clearly states we were arranging a meet time on 7/21. As they knew I was 3 hours away, I left early 7/21. Their pic of text exchange is from 7/21 at the meeting time, after I was already nearby eating. That is well after they knew I was leaving.
They are also lying about the secondary dealer trade. They stated in email they were auctioning the vehicle, which has nothing to do with this other dealer. Again, only at the meering time did they reveal this alternative plan.
Texts and emails don't lie, these frauds do.
