I booked a $2,100 5-day hunt the first week of Nov. 2021. Prior to the hunt, I informed the owner, ****** *******, that I'm a Vietnam vet, 70+ years old, titanium left knee, bone-on-bone right knee, and a recently recovered broken left arm. I wanted to book a ground blind hunt for cornfed whitetail. The owner replied no problem, no problem. When I arrived, the property owner told me there was no longer a big volume of deer in the area since they quit planting corn years ago. Only after I gave ***** my deposit in full and signed his extensive miniscule print release did I realize a scam was going on. Once ****** received his money in full, I never saw him again. The 1st morning in the stand, it was not on the ground but 10 ft in the air with no ladders to climb up. The blinds were fully open with 2x4 framing and burlap walls. You couldn't stand up in the blind. After the morning hunt I had to be helped down from the stand by the 2nd in command. I told him that I was not good at elevations off the ground, that I had booked a trip for whitetail in a closed ground blind, and the owner assured me my needs would be accommodated. It fell upon deaf ears. After the 1st evening hunt, I severely bruised my left elbow (on the arm that was previously broken) getting out of the tree stand by myself. The owner did not meet his verbal commitments for this senior hunt. I was physically unable to continue and had to leave the property after 24 hrs. Once home in **********, I contacted the owner to work out a mutual financial resolution. He was unwilling to refund any portion of this hunt, although I was only there for 1 out of 5 days and he didn't provide any of the necessary services that he said he would for this hunt.Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2021/12/22) */ To begin. This client booked this hunt over the phone with me. He was informed of how we hunted here and what to bring. He was never told he couldn't hunt from the ground but he never asked his guide to put him in a ground blind either to my knowledge as well as asking the guide and he said that he was never asked either. I gladly would have. We have plenty. He showed up totally unprepared for this hunt with no coat or gun and had to use a gun provided here which I didn't mind. It turned cold while he was here that week. He didn't speak to anyone that owns land that I hunt or anyone that I use their land to hunt that told him about no deer being here. We have hundreds of satisfied clients that can attest to there being plenty of deer here. I met the client upon his arrival and got him situated in his lodge. Then introduced him to his guide to handle him from there. I'm not sure why he thought the need to see me the next morning before his hunt at 5 am as I have multiple hunters in camp that I also have to help as well. He was only here for 24 hours of which he asked for and drank over a case of beer. I don't think he was ready for this hunt as he sure wasn't prepared. I hate that this didn't work out for him. I also hate that anytime someone doesn't like something or isn't able to do it they want to call it a scam. He just left and gave no reason and never expressed any of these concerns until after he was home. I have already forfeited $1000 of his hunt and do not intend on giving any more. He signed a waiver form upon arrival as everyone here or at any outfitter does. It seems that maybe we didn't end up being the desired outfitter for him but we most certainly are for many others. I'm sorry and good luck in the future wherever you may go.
