I hired ******************************************* last year to build and install two barn doors and four Dutch-style stall doors on our new barn. His company is known for doing high quality work with old barn wood. This is what we thought we were getting. However, it is my fault this was not spelled out in our contract (the reason this is a review and not a complaint). These ********* cost us $11k--a figure that indicates quality work. Over the next couple of months, I called **** to come out and shave down the stall doors twice; they had swelled and wouldn't close. He did. (They won't close again.) Then the large barn doors started to crack -- a lot. Turns out he used new wood that he says was kiln dried. Six months later and the doors look horrible. They also have a lot of sap coming out. Here's the worst part: **** will not return messages, will not come out and look at the doors, and will not acknowledge us or this project at all anymore. He has behaved very unprofessionally. He can't even know what the doors truly look like, as he refuses to come out and look at them and talk to us. I feel like others considering hiring him should know this. (I've heard similar complaints from others.)
