Aurora asked us to leave them a review on this website instead of ****** like we typically do. After reading the reviews from all of the other people I can only say that our experience with Aurora has been very professional, Fair and above all reliable. They replaced our air conditioner last year and called us to come back out just to make sure it was working as expected. The two technicians that showed up were very helpful and pleasant. Aurora has been great for us and all of the neighbors we recommended them to.Review from Arnold M

We had many estimates before choosing Aurora. Not only did they perform a thorough evaluation but also took the time to understand what our plans were for our home in order to provide us with the best solution. We were very pleased with their communication and level of expertise. We will continue to use them and recommend them.Review from Susan S

STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!! My ac unit wasn’t working and unfortunately chose Aurora as one of the companies to check my unit. The tech said 99% of the time it was a bad capacitor as the unit ran but no cold air. I asked if it had coolant and he said that could not be checked unless I replaced the capacitor for roughly $400.00. I agreed to that since the tech made it seem like the part replacement would solve the problem. Nope…now tech says there is no coolant and there’s a leak somewhere but impossible to find unless I refill coolant ($$$?) in the unit PLUS pay nearly a thousand for him to find it, then a whole lot more to repair it and that it would end up costing as much as replacing the whole system for $16-18,000.00+. I ended up paying $328.00 for a part I STRONGLY question whether it was bad or not and waited for one of the other companies I called. Two other techs (separate companies) both said coolant could be checked first, and if it was the capacitor, one company charges $35.00, the other $47.00 for the part. A leak was found in 2 minutes for zero $$. Pretty much everything the Aurora tech did and said was a lie. I did not mention any statements or quotes to any company about the other as not to contaminate their opinions. I called Aurora to state my dissatisfaction with being way overcharged for a part that probably wasn’t bad and being lied to. I spoke with Oscar, the owner of Aurora. I told him the entire situation-he wanted to speak with his tech (understandably), and will call me back. This was Friday afternoon. I told Oscar I would be unable to answer my phone after 5pm because I’d be at work. He said he’d call me back long before then. Never heard back from him. I called again Wednesday a week ago now….still won’t return my call. If this man has any decency whatsoever, he’d at least reimburse or respond. I pity anyone that falls for the honest religious grandmother marketing bs from Aurora. They are anything but honest and upstanding.Review from Doug M

DO NOT do business with Aurora Pro Services, they are unfairly high for the services they provide. For a very basic plumbing repair which took less than 1 hr. to complete, they charged over $900. After much discussion with their management about the cost of the services they provided, rather than breaking down these costs, they told me their tech’s went above and beyond. Replacing a water shut off valve does not seem to me to be above and beyond a very basic plumbing repair. The valve for this refrigerator ice maker was very accessible and the parts I priced cost less then $15 but I was told they had to use their parts. I always pay for good service and get guarantee’s from service companies but they seem to think only they provide this to customers. NEVER AGAIN, STAY AWAYReview from a p c

I needed a gas cooktop installed to replace a failed one that had been turned off because it was leaking small amounts of gas. I called Aurora and to their credit they came out quickly.....charging me $95 for an estimate to install the new one I had purchased. It became quickly clear that their service techs, who were in fact courteous, were more concerned about selling me a home maintenance contract than doing the actual repair work. When they gave me the estimate, it was for nearly $1,900 which I knew was grossly over-inflated. When I told them it was MUCH too high, they talked to their manager and dropped the estimate by a couple of hundred dollars. This I also knew was WAY too high and asked them to leave. I got the work done a few days later for $350.00 by a thoroughly competent and fairly priced local repair company. I will never call Aurora again.Review from Glenn S

Charged us over $400 for an USB outlet installation that took 15 minutes to install. In my ignorance, I though that it might be expensive, but after doing some research I found that it's something I could have installed for less than $30. Complained to customer service and was told the charge was for warranties for replacement if there ever was a problem. Total ripoff company. I should have done a better job of researching this company. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!Review from Margo H

The technician was prompt, courteous and presented us with an estimate of $1200+ to clear the line. I asked him what he was going to do and how long it would take and he told me he was going to run a drain auger through the pipe and it would take 1 hour. We had this done once before and it took about 45 minutes and the plumber charged us $200. After I caught my breath I told him this information and he told me the office was the source of the estimate and he would check again with them. They told him they could not adjust the price more than 5%, which is approximately $60. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.Review from Tom B

After reading all of the glowing reviews, I decided to reach out to Aurora when storm damage knocked down the service line to my well house. The staff was very responsive in coming out to look at my needs, but that is where the good ended. During the storm, the pole that my meter box was mounted on was knocked down. My goal was simple, get a new pole and remount the meter box. The salesperson started enumerating all of the things that needed to be changed to meet current code requirements. Ultimately, the estimate came in at slightly over $16,000. After discussing the estimate with the salesperson, I was left with (1) we are a premium service company (this was stressed repeatedly), (2) my 40 year old wiring would not pass current code requirements and hence would not pass inspection, which would prevent Duke Energy from restoring my service, (3) we have to replace everything to be able to guarantee all of our work and (4) elements in my current configuration were probably going to fail within the next year or two and needed to be replaced now. Even when I explained that my homeowners insurance only covered replacing what was actually damaged, the sales person left me with the impression that the building inspector would not approve anything short of a complete replacement. I called another supplier who quoted replacing the pole and meter box. When I asked about needing to replace more to be code compliant, they said that the existing wiring should be "grandfathered" and not require inspection or upgrade. Their estimate -- slightly over $1,300 or less than 10% of the Aurora estimate. I cannot say anything about the quality of their work, but this sales process was highly unprofessional and bordering on criminal! Oh, and they still charged me $95 as a consultation fee in their process of trying to totally rip me off. Buyer beware!Review from M. B.

Let me introduce myself, I am the maintenance manager with ****** ********* in Thomasville NC. I contacted Aurora Pro Services with a emergency plumbing situation at my work place. Oscar informed me there would be a $350.00 charge for after hours service, I said fine I'm okay with that, upon the tech arriving, I get another call from the service tech. relaying a message from his manager Oscar that there would be an additional $1564.88 more to do the job, I expressed to Oscar that they were stealing and that wasn't right, So I told Oscar you know what go ahead and do the job, they were already there. IN SHORT DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY.Aurora Pro Services Response

We charge an after hours service to have one of out technician to go to a location which the customer approved. Once we get to a location, we then provide an estimate (amount) to do the repair which the customer agreed to. We state this when we are scheduling any call whether it is during business hours or after-hours. Thank you.Customer Response

I was charged $317.00 by Aurora Pro Services to snake a tub drain. I was told the estimate for the job was $317.00 in case the plumber broke a pipe while snaking the drain. This is something that should be covered by insurance, but I agreed to the estimate as we have an elderly parent who lives with us, and we needed an immediate solution. It took about $15 minutes to snake the drain. The clog was minor. There were no other problems. I asked the company to revise their estimate given this was a simple job that took far less than an hour, but they refused. Egregious price gouging.
