I live in NJ, but have a home at address in NC. I went on Angi's online to request a contractor. Andre contacted me, we discussed replacing two ceilings (Living Room LR and Kitchen K). We set an appt to visit and he met with my brother ******. He did a walk-through, then called about other work to be done under different Contracts (kitchen remodel, laundry room, wall removal to open kitchen/living room, and replacing a wood stove with a Mini-Split). Andre gave me a hard time from the beginning: giving me a work invoice (he did reluctantly) but he would not give me a detailed invoice so I know what work was covered. He kept asking for money up front to pay staff or purchases, but (1) my brother had replaced two other ceilings in the house, so I had ALL supplies and tools at my home. Andre only supplied the Mini-Split. Andre had poor communication with me, often canceling without notice, working 2 hours at a time, etcetera. He started late July 2022, then in August canceled his Angi's acct. I was continually asking for updates, pictures, receipts from him, but he never submitted anything to me. I knew he was a scam, but I was trying to get him to complete the work he started. In October 2022, I notified Andre I will visit Nov 11 - 19, 2022, to evaluate and discuss unfinished work, and discuss Contract 2. When I arrived, no work had been done, the work done was incomplete and sloppy. Furthermore, I never received any invoice, receipt or instruction booklet for the Mini-Split (again many, many requests) so I am trying to discover if this Mini-Split is stolen, and if it is, it must be removed from the ceiling. Andre was paid $11,900.00, but I also had to replace a water pump Andre wrongly wired the water pump and it burned out, so $275 for that, totaling $12,175. I must hire someone to fix the work he messed up, PLUS finish the work. I am asking for a refund of $10,000.00
