    Pattern of Complaint:

BBB files indicate this business has a pattern of complaints concerning Carport orders.  Customers allege they are given incorrect information for deliveries, from the dealers.  Per terms and conditions of the contract; MC&S will make a good faith effort to deliver and install the unit within 60 days after MC&S acceptance of this contract, and will notify Buyer at least 24 hours before delivery. BBB finds there are unreasonable delays with the delivery and installation, based on customer complaints.  Some customers allege that their contract and dimensions on units are changed without notice and requiring additional funds for delivery.  Several customers allege after waiting more than 12 months for deliver and the business is now requesting more money to proceed with the delivery. On June 9, 2022, BBB submitted a written request to the business asking them to address the pattern and 9 unanswered complaints.   As of June 27 2022, BBB has not received a response from the business.

We purchased a metal building on 3/2022. The installation was done on Jan 27th through I believe 30th 2023. They completed the building and then we had to get electrical rough in before the county would come out for building inspection. The county inspector came out and stated the base rail (sheet 12 diagram 3) shows base rails are supposed to be "continuous" however 2 of them are not. He said if the engineer would provide a "cert" stating that is acceptable he would take that or if it wasn't they would need to correct to be able to pass inspection and obtain CO (certificate of occupancy). I called the company to discuss this issue. 1st time spoke to a person who was going to relay message. Never received a call back. I have made multiple other calls (no answer) so had to leave message. I have called on 6 different days, and left messages with no return call. We finally reached out 4/18/23 the company that sold us the building -*** ********* ****** to see if they can help since they are the ones that get the buildings and installation done via Metal Carports and Structures. I have followed up with them and as of today 10 days later still no update from that company. We just need to either get the engineer cert stating the way the building was assembled is approved by engineer or their installation error corrected so we can utilize the building that has been sitting empty that we cannot use for the past 3 months after spending a total $40K on building and another $40K between foundation, insulation and electrical for project. We also needed the company to sign off on a form for the county and after receiving the same "NO RESPONSE" gave up and the county agreed to allow us to show copies of cancelled checks as proof that they did the work on building.

I have not heard from the business in response to my complaint. I continue to call and leave message 2 times a week. They have never returned any messages in the last 2 months. They never answer phone and I even reached out to the Big Building Direct which is who we did purchase through. Their service team has tried to contact them multiple times, also with no response. We have contacted the engineer company directly that Metal Carports and Structure(MC&S) used. We asked if they could review issue, they said request would have to come from MC&S would need to contact them directly. I explained the issue was they are not returning any phone calls from anyone therefore not able to talk with them to work through resolution. MC&S has ghosted everyone. We are not able to obtain certificate of occupancy still due to this issue. My next option is to drive all the way out to Mount Airy where this company is located and see if I can engage someone to address issue.

I ordered a carports through a dealer (********** ********) and they initiated the contract with one of their manufacturers. The contract was signed on 3/15/21 with Metal Carports and Structures Inc. (MCS) I was contacted by an MCS employee named Mary regarding ground work requirements. I had the groundwork completed and sent photos to Mary on April 18, 2021. Then heard nothing for weeks. I contacted them numerous time throughout the year and was told that they were experiencing a tubing shortage and they could not provide an estimated time of delivery and installation. During the year I also was in contact with the dealer and they also received the same response from MCS. The last contact I had with MCS in 2021 was roughly mid October. I was told then that they were just starting to get the materials in and I would be placed on a list to get the installation scheduled in the spring. I contacted them again literally 1 year to the day of signing my contract 3/15/22 and was told that the price had changed and I needed to contact the dealer. I have been in almost daily contact with the dealer ********** ******** at this point trying to get a resolution and I just keep getting told that the prices have increased and I either have to pay more money or cancel my contract and they will give me a refund of my deposit. My hope is to get the carport I ordered at the price it was contracted for.

In March 2021 I contracted for a new carport with Metal Carports and Structures. I put the required deposit down on the contract and sent them a picture of the site prep within a week of the order. To this date I have not received my carport. They will not return my emails. Their dealer said they told him they want more money from me and a new contract. This is not acceptable. I want the carport I contracted installed. I don't have the contract with me at the moment. I am more than willing to scan it and provide all the emails from the last year.

After I filed this complaint and one with the state of NC, Metal Carports and Structures sent an email wanting me to cancel the contract, reissue at a higher cost, and pay cash to avoid sales tax.  This company is not ethical or legal.

I originally accepted this contract to have a metal building installed on my property in March 2021 which is when I made my deposit of $2,687.25. I have been in contact with MC&S since August trying to come and install the building. I have spoke with them numerous times and every time they can never give an exact date. In December 2021 I was told March 2022. I have called several times and no one can provide an exact date. The terms and conditions state that if the buyer inquirys about delivery MC&S shall provide an estimate time frame. Today when I spoke with Mary who claims to be the manager she stayed either I pay $1,700 more to have my building installed within a couple of weeks or she can't tell me when it can be installed. She said that if I didn't pay more than the contract amount she couldn't tell me when she would install the building. I asked to speak with whoever made the choices for billing and she refused to let me speak to anyone else. The contract does not state that MC&S has the right to change the contract price whenever they feel like it. The business has my deposit but refuses to provide a delivery date unless I pay more.

We purchased a 4 car steel garage from *** ********* ****** on 9/18/2020. We gave them a $2668.00 deposit. They sub out the installation to Metal Carports and Structures INC. 715 Willow St., Mount Airy, NC. We were told there would be an 8 to 12 week lead time. We decided to go ahead without a permit which we were told was ok to do. The company kept putting us off long past the 12 week period and their excuse was the weather up here in MA. We still had not gotten any snow through the end of December. We will give the company some credit however for contacting us first thing in the spring to arrange to come and out up the building, however, we still had lots of snow on the ground. We decided we would get a permit after all. the company told us to call them when we got a permit and we did contact them again in June with the permit information. they said once again that there would be an 8 to 12 week lead time and that they would call us. We never heard from them. We called many times throughout the summer and never got a call back. One day, we were lucky enough to get a =n actual person on the phone who told us we may not get our building put up until Spring of 2022 because they had trouble getting steel tubing. The weather is still good up here, no snow. We have yet to hear back from them.
