I bought the MDV Plus one knife from Skallywag. It comes with the knife, a trainer knife, a rhino sheath, and a belt sheath. I bought this to use the belt sheath with the knife. When I received it, belt sheath would not hold the knife in. It had no retention and would freely fall in & out. I contacted them and they said that the belt sheath is useless and to throw it away. I asked them how can i get a sheath that works. They asked how I'm trying to use the sheath and I explained that the one I have now works perfect for what I need, but it just needs to hold the knife in. They said that they would have a new sheath coming out that would have better retention. I then asked for a refund, because their only remedy provided was to buy a sheath that wasn't out yet. I asked for them to provide a RMA since this issue was their fault and they didn't not provide any other way to remedy. Their reply was that the blade was delivered as promised with a rhino sheath. Well yes, that sheath works, but its not the sheath I am able to use when using the blade everyday. That is why I bought this for the other sheath it came with.They said they are not sending a RMA and that I have to pay for shipping, plus they are going to deduct 4.25% they stated was because they already paid that on my behalf. To sum this up, they sold a product that came with a knife, trainer and both sheaths. The main sheath I needed did not work at all. When contacted about it, they told me that sheath is useless to throw it away. Then they suggested I get a new sheath that isn't out yet and will cost money. I asked for a refund, they refuse to give a full refund or pay for shipping. This is false advertisement for them to be offering a sheath they know is useless and should just be thrown away, then to try making me buy a new one later on. I want a full refund and for them to pay for shipping and for them to put on their website that the belt sheath should be thrown away as they stated to me.Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/04/27) */ The Customer was notified he would be offered a refund outside of our posted refund guidelines as a courtesy to him. We promptly communicated with the customer. His whole issue is he wants us to pay for returning the item when there is no issue with the item he just does not understand it was designed to not be carried the way he is trying to carry it. So he wants us to make something which we are going to do at some point but are still in process of. This whole boils down to him being pissed about a 12.00 shipping charge and 4.25% of his charge for his Credit card fees that we have all ready paid and wont get refunded. Our policy is clear on our website on returns and we will not lose money more then we all ready will with the return and wasted time. If the customer wants to act resonable i will allow him to send us the sheath that has the manufacturing issue and we will repair it and send it back to him.. This could all have been solved with a call to our company.. This is a person who abuses the BBB and just likes to make a fuss who cant deal with is own problems up front. The first stating " After that circus stunt of contacting the BBB I resend my offer of a refund for you.. I will do what our policy allows and repair or replace the manufactured issue. I will send you a call tag for the MDV factory sheath" I think he meant he was going to rescind the refund for the entire knife not resend it(a simple typo, but in a situation like this has 2 complete different meanings and they should make sure they clarify). He also stated "If you want to call me on our toll free number listed below and remove your BBB BS then I might work with you" Ironically they're upset that I sought help through the BBB, but by doing so they offered what I wanted this entire time. For them to fix the sheath. I only asked for a full refund because when I contacted them about the sheath the only remedy they offered was to buy a new one that wasn't out yet. Still very odd for a company to ask me to remove a complaint for them to work with me. I then received another email saying that they will do a full refund, but that if it isn't like new they would make me pay for shipping to return it back to me and not do a refund. Also that they never want to do business with me again. They also said I should have reached out to them instead of contacting the BBB. Do they not realize this all started because I initiated contact first and emailed them and their lack of help 6 emails later I went to the BBB. So to say I don't deal with my problems upfront is just a sad attempt at an insult. I did go to them first. Also BBB has my authorization to confirm to skallywag that this is my first complaint ever to the BBB, I do not abuse it. Either way it doesn't matter. Like I have said all along I love the knife, it is great. Another knife maker offered to make a sheath for me that works and I am going to send it to them. BBB can marked this as resolved. They did offer a full refund if the knife met their standards, but again when they make comments like "remove your BBB BS then I might work with you" it's hard to trust them. Thank you BBB for your time in the matter. Business Response /* (4000, 10, 2022/05/03) */ We sent the customer a call tag so he could ship the item back to us as well as offered a full refund. he would rather slander our reputation on BBB and ******. We have offered a full refund but the customer needs to send the product back we will never refund a product with out having it back, this is a dead issue the move it up to the customer we have provided all we can, a free means for him to ship the product back and the offer of a full refund. there is nothing more anyone can do.
