Brief Description of Dispute: ******* Transmissions ("ST") in ******** NC sold and installed a remanufactured transmission for my vehicle, a **********************. The transmission never worked correctly from the day ST returned it to me (Friday, 11/12/'21) for the second time after trying unsuccessfully to get the transmission working properly. I first noticed the continued problem less than 24 hours after receiving the transmission while driving from ******* to my home in*********, about 1,650 miles away; ST was aware that I was driving to********* that day and told me the transmission was finally working properly. Unfortunately, it is not fixed and needs to be replaced, according to two transmission shops I had inspect the vehicle in********* *******. Symptoms include "check engine" light coming on, transmission error codes appearing in the vehicle's computer, inability of transmission to move into a proper higher gear, higher than normal RPMs, and noticeably worse gas mileage. ST has not denied or disputed that the transmission is not working properly, but it refuses to honor the national warranty it provided (i.e., refuses to work with a transmission shop in********* ******* to replace or repair the transmission) and refuses to refund my money so I can replace the transmission. Additional Information: * Please see continuation sheet and attachments for additional details and documentation. * Desired resolution: I desire either (1) that ST work with me through a********* ******* transmission shop to replace or repair the transmission, or (2) that ST refund me the $5,075.90 I paid it for my transmission (which is not quite the amount I would have to pay******************** of********* to replace the transmission).Business response

This issued was resolved by given a refund to the customer about 2 years ago
we never got the notice from the BBB to answer the complain as closed

I am rejecting this response because it is not entirely accurate. Sanford Transmissions (ST) did not give me a refund as they said. What they did was settle a lawsuit - on the most favorable terms their lawyers could negotiate - I initiated when they refused to give me a refund after being given multiple opportunities to do so, including correspondence from the BBB, which I have no way of knowing whether they ever received.I agree with ST that this matter is now resolved. Unfortunately, it took a lawsuit to do that.
