Subaru refuses to honor their 10y/100k cvt warranty after the official dealership ignored a noise I mentioned when it was under the mileage limit. At 153 miles over the noise was diagnosed as the transmission and therefore not covered. Very bad business, terrible customer service.Review from Niamh D

Beyond disappointed with the company I own a 2015 Subaru Legacy. My horn stopped working so I made an appt with Citywide Subaru to have it looked at. The service representative was great. He called me a couple of hours later and said, the steering wheel roll connector had failed. Unfortunately, the piece that needed to be replaced was located in a very distinct spot and the job would be very labor intensive to replace due to needing full removal of the power steering column. However, having a 4, 3, and nearly 2 year old, a non working horn if not safe. The total bill came to $941.27. The recommendation was made to call Subaru Advocacy, which I did. They were not helpful at all and stated that it was considered basic wear and tear and the responsibility of the owner. In addition, she more care about me completing form about transfer of ownership before she gave me my answer, that we cannot help you. Why is it that I bought a car at the Subaru dealership and they needed proof I owned it? The company does not stand by their product. Very disappointed in their Customer Advocacy Program. I have spent a lot of money over the years on wear and tear and general upkeep. However, nearly $1000 to replace a part that should not have failed is unacceptable.Review from Trevin S

Bought a 2024 subaru outback because it was rated to tow ***** pounds. Come to find out subaru does not offer trailer brake hookup which is legally required over ***** pounds. Subarus response is that the vehicle is capable, you just have to have third party work done which warranty will not cover if they mess up something in the process of splicing wires. How can you advertise a vehicle being capable of somethin that needs third party custom work? Thats like advertising my car is capable of flying, just gotta have a third party customize it. FALSE ADVERTISING!!!Review from Al N

My 11 month old 2023 Forester began leaking from the sunroof. Took the car to the dealership twice, where it sat for a total of three weeks (much of it in the rain). Subaru water tested the car and claimed they could not find the issue, despite not checking on it while it sat out in the rain. The car was wet again within 24 hours of getting it back from the dealership.Subaru of America did absolutely nothing to help remedy the issue, often taking weeks in between communication. Horrible, horrible customer service and backing of their flawed product. Never again.Review from jiawei C

When I bought the car, I emphasized to them that I only wanted the price plus tax, and nothing else. They told me that the price could be ******, but they actually charged me 800 more, making the price ******. I didn't pay attention to it until I got home.Review from Jamie V

I purchased a 2022 Subaru Forester in late 2021. I ordered it to ensure I got everything I wanted. I l paid for three years of MySubaru for access to remote start. Then Subaru pushed out their first upgrade on their infotainment system, and the downward spiral began. It was full of glitches, wouldnt work and when I contacted MySubaru and the dealership nobody would help me. I had to literally put horrible reviews about the dealership on the Internet to get them to call me back and then they finally realized there was an update and got me in to resolve it. But, it was way too excruciating of a process. They were more concerned about me taking the reviews down than fixing it. Of course this happened in the middle of subzero temperatures and as a result, I didnt have access to remote start, which was the whole reason I subscribed to MySubaru. Here we go again in the summer of 2024. They pushed out another update full of glitches and it happened all over again. This time in the middle of a heat wave. Again I contacted their customer advocate department at ************************, and opened a case. That sat open for a couple weeks and then they closed it, with no resolution. Three months later, Im still sitting here trying to figure out what I can do as MySubaru, and Subaru itself, havent done a thing. I prepaid for three years of this service and now I cant use it. When I go in to MySubaru, it doesnt show my car, but when I try to add it, it tells me its in use. At this point, they are stealing the money that I paid for this service from me. I am literally going to trade in a car that is less than three years old this weekend because I am absolutely done with Subaru! Their products are inferior, their technology is c*** and quite honestly I can drive a tricycle faster than a Subaru goes. Stay away, everyone has AWD now and you can do much better!Review from Debbie M

On July 16, 2024, my 2019 Subaru Forester White Eyesight Light came on at 8:10 pm. At 8:12 pm my engine light, brake light and ABS light came on. I park the car in my brother's driveway and lots of other lights start flashing. 8:21 The electronic parking brake, Yellow Eye Sight and Yellow Check Engine light. The ATL Oil Temp light came on and the car began to smoke in the right side of the driver's side right by the computer. Then shortly after that my brother, nieces, nephews and I see a fire. My brother tries to help by using a fire extinguisher. The flames got too high. The fire department came out and put out the fire. The firemen said the cause of the fire was electrical. It took until 8:44 to put out the fire. Subaru of America has been in the process of investigating the cause of the fire. Today, I get a call from Subaru of America ***************************** ext.119048 and he says they cannot determine the cause of the fire. They are not sure whether it was a faulty part and he offered me $2000 toward the purchase of a Subaru.I am having to file with State Farm for a total loss on my 2019 Subaru *********. I am concerned about Subaru of America not finding the cause or taking responsibility for the fire. I loved my Subaru and I love all the safety features, but I am not the first ****** to have a car fire. I had my thermal control valve replace on 2/24/24. The first part was a faulty part so they had to replace it with another part. According to owners from other Subaru Foresters, after replacing this valve months later their car caught on fire. They should stand behind their product especially since it was under warranty.Review from Joseph F

I have a 2022 Outback and received notice of issue with the passenger side supplement restraint system (airbag). The airbag has deactivated even when the seat is occupied. Subaru response is unable to provide a solution until possibly the early summer of 2025. The interim solution they recommend is to not have anyone sit in the passenger seat until the issue is fixed. How is this allowable? I can't have a person ride in the passenger seat for about a year? My guess is that the letter that we have received will be Subaru's out should someone be seated in the passenger seat and is involved in an accident and is injured because the airbag doesn't deploy.Review from Jessica F

I purchased my used Subaru Crosstrek with one previous owner and immediately feel in love. At the time of purchase, I felt like I was in a safe and highly reliable vehicle. A year into buying the car (2023), I needed brakes, services, recharge on A/C and had a diagnostic performed on the vehicle for $900-and some change, and all was "well". Its important to note I well maintain my vehicle, regularly. LESS than 1 year later and LESS than ****** miles, my car started to idle funky, appeared to run significantly louder, A/C not working, my car started to shake when braking, and my back trunk button had been warn down to the point of it not working. Mind you, I was concerned this all took place at the same time, but there was no indication that the car needed significant repairs-as the CHECK ENGINE light did not light up. Still concerned I took it to the same Subaru repair shop I went to less than a year ago. They ran diagnostic on my vehicle, and my car needed $9000 worth of repairs including transmission, exhaust, brakes, A/C, etc. Currently, my car is still making noises after "repair", shifting and idling weird and loudly, brakes are still making noise too. No repairs are covered under my extended warranty, and furthermore they cannot explain why my check engine light did not luminate when repairs were needed or why the brakes are faulty after less than a year. I filed my concerns with Subaru of America and they were unwilling to further assist me or investigate my concerns, after providing proof that I had repairs, documentation, and diagnostic reports. Instead the rep asked if I was seeking to purchase a newer model of Subaru. I thought my next purchase would definitely be a Subaru, but I don't think I can bare to do this again. This has been such a disheartening experience. I purchased this vehicle for safety and reliability, and Subaru has failed at both. Shame I had to give this experience a star.
