My organization, ********* ****** ********, registered for a conference being held by BRINetwork in Las Vegas "2023 Congress on Reducing Hospital Readmissions - June 12-13, 2023" for $1095.00. We also opted to attend a workshop they were offering, being held after the conference ended, for an additional $200.00. With the pre-registration discount, we paid a total of $995.00 in May 2023. As it turned out, the conference was extremely poorly attended. There were less than 20 people in attendance and that included the speakers. Many of the sessions were either cancelled or presented by a fill-in speaker who was not of the same caliber (abilities & knowledge) as promised. BRINetwork later cancelled the $200.00 workshop. The promised CE credits were no longer available due to the planned speakers not being in attendance. The BRINetwork host kept breaking for "networking time", to fill in for the lack of speakers, but of course there were very few people to network with. Steve initially offered us a credit, which we declined, not wanting to repeat the same costly flop we experienced with them in July. After many requests for a refund, as indicated on the email & contact page attached, I was told that BRINetwork lost money on the event and they needed to cover their costs. After continuing to reach out to them, I received an email on 9/28/23 from BRINetwork, that a full refund would be issued. However, no refund was ever issued nor will they respond to my inquires by telephone, email, or by mail. A copy of the promised refund sent by email is attached. We are a Community non-profit organization located in a very remote region of California. We paid for time & mileage, 6 hours & 300 miles, to & from the airport. We paid for airline tickets, hotel - including an extra night's stay to attend the additional workshop, an hourly wage, food, and more. To add insult to injury, I have spent hours attempting to secure a refund.
