I filed a claim on April 24, 2023 and it was against a general contractor for damages incurred from poor workmanship an improper installation of an addition to my house. The room leaked that he built after three months and he claimed to have ***** the leak, but it leaked again. There is unknown damage in the drywall and insulation because there was no flashing. In any regard, his insurance company is Markel and it has been over three weeks now and they are still checking his coverages apparently. I have had several inspectors and estimates given yet his insurance company for liability for damages caused by his employee still refuses to give me a resolution. This is the slowest company and I am losing rental income because this company will not take action to pay out a claim against the contractors policy. I would like them to hurry up and check the coverages for the contractor and pay for the damages under the liability policy. This includes outstanding bills for contractors that are left unpaid to tarp the house to stop the leak.Business response

Thank you for the opportunity to respond to your inquiry. A complaint has been made referencing Markel Northeast Region, which is not a business entity nor an insurance company. The complainant, ****************, is not a customer or policyholder of any ****************** ************** We understand that ***************** complaint relates to a claim she has brought against a general contractor that was issued a liability insurance policy by a Markel Group insurance company. **************** is not an insured under the general contractors policy, which *** potentially provide coverage to the general contractor for its liability for damages that fall within the policys coverage, subject to the policys terms, conditions and any applicable exclusions. The policy does not provide coverage to **************** as an insured,and the matter remains under investigation as to any coverage that *** be owed to the general contractor and ****************** claimed damages.
