I went for an annual eye exam with Dr. Joel C****** of The Eye Care and Surgery Center **** *********** **** ********** ** ****** on Jan. 11, 2024 at their behest. After I went, I was charged $88.11 and thought that was odd since my insurance plan with ***** allows for free check-ups. Nonetheless, I paid it and only after I called ***** was it determined that the medical code was incorrect and that I should never have been charged. The visit was resubmitted and the amount I paid was to be reimbursed. It has been months of constant phone calls both from me and from CIGNA; the people in the billing department never pick up their phones and they never give the professional courtesy of a call back. What am I to do? After leaving at least a dozen messages, I am fed up. It's not a lot of money, granted, but it is the principle of the matter. I am due this money and I expect to get it back. It was their fault for submitting the visit with the incorrect medical code in the first place. Indeed, the amount of time that I have put into this situation far exceeds the amount owed to me. This is all very frustrating and I view them as unprofessional scammers, no better than many people out there who try to wheedle money out of unsuspecting victims.
