After reading 10 negative reviews listed since September of this year, I called the office and spoke with *****. I asked a simple of question of what the going rate was for an existing customer and he simply did not answer the question.Thank you to everyone who has shared their experience, it was a great hearing all your stories.Based off all the above, I am choosing another Propane provider.Suburban Propane, L.P. We spoke with this customer and informed him the price per gallon and that it was not locked in and that the price fluctuates with the market. We agreed to put him on a 3 year price protection plan, so if the prices jumped, his price would not increase significantly. We wish him well if he decides to work with another company but we are here for him should he remain with Suburban.Review from Richard M

They are double the price vs state avg. This business should have been shut down years ago for price gouging. ************************ is next. If you are local to the *********** / ****** area, steer clear of this company and their deceptive practices.Suburban Propane, L.P. Response

I've already done one review on this company but issues are still unresolved. We canceled service with this company in June of 2023. It took them until September 19 of 2024 to pick up the tank that we rented even though we made repeated phone calls to ask them to pick it up. Tank was picked on on September 19, 2024 with 70% of butane still in the tank. I submitted the 1st review to which they replied that I should contact the business office to get my refund on unused butane. On October 23 I did contact the business office to enquire about my refund. I was told that their records showed the tank had never been picked up. When I gave her the date of pickup she stated she would have to check into it and call me back. I waited a week and called again on October 30 only to be told the exact same thing again. It's been almost a week and I have yet to get a return phone call. This is the most unprofessional, incompetent and unorganized company I've ever dealt with.Suburban Propane, L.P. Response

The state average for propane right now is $3.30 I'm on will call and I used to have a veteran's discount which the local office is now decided not to recognize. They're now trying to charge me $6.30 a gallon you want to talk about getting ripped off you might as well just buy your own tank in shop around.Suburban Propane, L.P. Response

Our local manager spoke with Mr. ****** and advised him that the last delivery was in 2022. Propane is based on propane usage but we are willing to work with him. We agreed on a rate for this delivery and sent him copy of the Agreement that he signed for tank rental in 2014. We pushed his tank rental out until May 2025 as a courtesy.Review from Leonard M

I just began my account and already getting bad vibes. A driver showed up unannounced and filled my tank. I had setup the inspection for the following week. I was not only charged for the propane, which I wasn't expecting, and then told that if I didn't pay it immediately my tank would be locked out. When the inspector showed up and did his thing I was charged another 140 and was told if it wasn't paid I would be locked out. My *** became combative and I told her this can't be going on as im on a fixed income. I would have been fine if they wouldn't have made an unscheduled delivery. I told the *** OBVIOUSLY they knew the lines were good or they wouldn't have delivered so why should I be charged for the inspection after the fact. She started becoming huffy and explained that I had chosen the *** option at which point I said, paying you for the inspection is like putting the cart before the horse and expecting me to pay to feed the horse. If this is what I can expect I will start looking for another company. This is NOT how you start a good business relationship ship at all!!Suburban Propane, L.P. Response

Our local manager confirmed that this customer was priced correctly based on his annual usage which is very low. As a one time courtesy, we lowered his price per gallon and customer was satisfied. Customer will also be placed on Will **** as per his request and will call us for deliveries going forward. Account is current. Customer was very happy with our resolution of this matter.Review from DEBORAH W

Very Poor and *********************** I call the police and I will follow up with them, if necessary. ***** insisted that Suburban Propane will retrieve their property and pay us for the Propane that is in the tank. We had this tank since around 2003 with no refills ever (if so, maybe once but I have no record of ever obtaining propane from this company because a lot of other companies were at least 30% or more cheaper. This was a rip off and we have a wood stove and other heat options so we never used it for this reason. *****, was thorough and specific that her guy will come and get. I called back (at 2:38 pm for a 9 minute, 19 sec. phone conversation) and spoke ***** (she said her name was) because ***** was on lunch break at almost 3 pm in the afternoon today. I was told no one can fill our Propane tank because it belong to Suburban Propane ***** per con w/***** Close out fee ($150.00) and restock fee #1 per gallon you all have to pump out. Annual rental fee $110 or $120 was just paid about a month or two ago!! 629 to 632 pounds of Propane was in my tank that was removed without planning and without my permission! The tank that was removed against my will was a 100 lb tank! I respect this call, but it was done unprofessionally! I would have gladly being available to give back the tank. ***** acted like she was trying to hurt me and I was very disrespected as loyal customer who paid the Rental Annual Fee for many years to include the double rental fee a month or two ago! We didn't complain because we were planning to use up the Propane then make an appointment to have this company to come and retrieve it.I request all fees be waived and reimbursed us the full cost of $4.24 per gallon in my propane tank. You don't do customers like this weather that purchase gas or not. We have been trying to give the tank back for years with no success! The way this was done was unprofessional!!Suburban Propane, L.P. Response

We will be removing all fees associated with the pick up of the tank as a courtesy. We will be coming out when the new tank is set and hooked up and ready for a fill from us at no charge. Please give us a call as soon as you are ready for that fill and we will get it taken care or right away.Review from Danielle H

I would encourage anyone looking for propane to stay far away from this company. The people at the ********* office are nice, but overall this company is managed horribly. We have had extended billing issues and repeated phone calls saying things would be rectified to only have the issue continue. We stopped services months ago and still received bills stating our bill was past due for my in-laws. Not the same the account. Not the same address. Yes, my husband and FIL have the same first and last name, but we made I don't even know how many calls regarding this! Despite my MIL calling last week confirming their bill was up-to-date, we received the same bill today at our address. Every time we called, it's been the same thing. It has been taken care of but it clearly hasn't. We also were told that we would receive a phone call to set up a time for our tanks to be removed when we ended services. That wasn't the case. They came and took our tanks without having any clue. We were without propane for weeks! Had I known that was how things were done, I would have never made a call so soon to cancel services. It has just been an overall awful experience. We stayed customers for way too long.Suburban Propane, L.P. Response

This customer was out for a cap and collect back in the spring and then called in on 3/20 to cancel service. We removed the tanks on 3/26 and they were upset stating they did not have new service installed even though account was noted that they had a competitor tank there already. We did not go back out and reset the old tanks since they had canceled service. They did pay the bill and we ended up refunding them for the unused gas.Review from Melissa P

Worst propane company ever! Ive been overcharged more than double the price of others for 3 years! 5.94 per gallon verses 2.69 elsewhere! Ive been making monthly payments per conversations on the phone with them and one day they showed up and just took my tanks, then sent me a bill for labor and pickup that I never authorized! Then sent me letter that if I didnt pay the balance on my account within 10 days they were sending me to collection. One gage never worked on one of the tanks so I dont even know if they were accurately charging me or the credit I received. Scam artists. Taking advantage of people and programs that help with your bill. You will be reported to those programs and you will not be receiving another ***** from me! Beware and stay away from Suburban! Take your business elsewhere, go local if possible! Help the little guys, not these big companys that only care about how much money they can rip people off for! 0 stars.Suburban Propane, L.P. Customer was upset over price per gallon and the tank removal as she had been trying to pay off the bill. We picked up her tank due to credit issues, but we will remove the close out fee as a courtesy. We did send two notices prior to the pick up date.Review from David S

This company give themselves 7-10 days to deliver And charge a whopping 255 for emergency which still may need to wait 48 hours I made an order 10 days ago and ran out of gas about 5 days ago so i decided to wait because why pay 255 when they will anyway be the next few days and i am not guaranteed to get the lp faster So i called them today they said i am scheduled for tomorrow ??Suburban Propane, L.P.
