Ruined comforter and not owning up to causing the problemBusiness response

When customer dropped off comforter store manager had noted the comforter was very soiled .
upon retrieval of the comforter, the customer had then phoned the manager saying he was upset with **********, At this point, the manager proceeded to tell him that it came in this way. He phoned our office. I had our district manager, take a look at the comforter. He agreed that the that the comforter was soiled. I also then looked at it myself additionally, had the plant manager as well . We all agreed it was just badly soiled but we tried to cleaned it over again, but we had the same results. I spoke with the customer and told him there was not much more we could do with this comforter, and that would Refund him the cleaning, he came in and we gave him the $48 out of the register.having the customer upset was not our intention, but sometimes we just cant get some things out. We did the best we could.
