The Joint is scamming consumers. I asked for a one month membership and was told two was the minimum. I signed up for two months, but they billed me again on the third month. Telephone calls, emails, and written correspondence have not provided me a refund. Looking at the online reviews, I see this is typical behavior for this firm. The Joint should make CERTAIN people understand their cancellation policy. It should be VERBALLY COMMUNICATED and not buried in the mounds of paperwork you initially sign. I would provide zero stars if that was an option.Review from Craig H

This scam lures you in with a low price initial visit, attempts to enroll you into a program with recurring monthly charges ( similar to a gym membership) then proceed to collects personal information and then informs you that they do not accept ANY insurance or ******** and to go somewhere else for treatment. When asked to return my personal information form and copy of my identification. They refused stating that the system would not allow them to delete or return any information that was *********** fairly certain that is not legal to deny return of personal information. Despite assurances that their information records were secure and not shared, I again requested mine be deleted as I was not a patient to which the person replied she could not do that as it would violate company policy. This is a franchise company, no different than a ******** franchise, so there is no company policy other than what the franchisees choose to follow. The entire experience just felt like a membership scam designed to enroll patients/members for automatic recurring charges. ****** of this company!!Review from Xan R

We prepaid 6 months, then renewed and prepaid again for 6 months. While in the office, we were asked to renew for a third time, we said we had to cancel for now. They said no problem and that it was taken care of. I checked my *** account and found they had switched to monthly and had billed us each for 3 months. They said we had to cancel in the office, which we already had. They then required us to go back to the office after 3 months to sign cancellation paperwork. They said they could not refund the 3 months because we were required to cancel in the office and that this requirement was specified on our paperwork. We agree it was on the paperwork, but also contend that we canceled in the office as required. It is not our fault that the we did not know the company's internal process to meet this requirement and that somehow we failed to meet it.Another item of note . . . Over the time we had the plan, we received frequent text reminders to stop in for an adjustment. When they renewed us monthly, the reminders stopped. Looking back now, we believe that they did not want us to know we were still on a plan and being charged.Seeing as this is a repeat issue with many other people having similar complaints, this issue has approached intentional fraud. While the business idea is a good one, the corporate people running it have questionable ethics.Review from Barbara S

I went to the ***************, ******* office. The treatment was good and the people in that particular office were friendly and knowledgeable. However, this is more of a sales oriented company than a medical treatment facility. They try to sell you a package which locks you in to paying a monthly fee that is automatically withdrawn from your bank or credit card. They give you a "today only special price" when you come in for a consultation, and if you "don't take it today, it will be more money tomorrow". You have to guarantee that you will pay for at least 2 mos. Mine was $69 per month. My month started on the 10th and I went the first month but not the second month. I had forgotten all about it and when I saw my credit card had been charged on the 3rd month (I didn't notice until 2 days after the monthly renewal day), I called and told them I would like to cancel and please refund for this (3rd) month as I will not be using it and did not even use the prior month. I was informed that I had to fill out a cancellation paper which I did that day and that they local office had to ask headquarters for my refund. I repeatedly followed up w local office and by email to HQ because they do not answer their phone. It took from April 14 until May 7 to get my reply from HQ telling me that per my contract I am responsible for paying for that 3rd mo since I did not cancel prior to them billing me and that NO they will not give me a refund. So basically I paid for month 3 but was unable to use it because I had already submitted a cancellation and was awaiting a reply about the refund for close to a full month. Their business model is super unfriendly, they do not answer calls so you can not address any issue with a person by phone and they take several weeks to reply to your inquiries. They are a Sales based company, and do not act like a professional medical company. I would not recommend. Go to a real Chiropractor not a company out to make sales. 2 stars for local officeReview from Titus R

Right off the bat, after signing the 2nd round of papers, the lady who worked at The Joint in ********, **********, explained to me parts of the subscription as I was signing, which felt very manipulative in that I had to try and concentrate on reading the paper and her explanation all at once. And I did not receive the whole copy of the subscription details until afterwards. Then, after reading in depth, I noticed the cancelation minimum is after 2 months. The thing is, today's date is April 26, 2024. The date she gave me that would be after the 2 months is in May of 2024. That is one month. I really don't appreciate the fact that they count the last week of April as a whole month of subscription, as well as the month of May. Along with that, I'm paying for the initial $29 dollars for the first visit AND the monthly subscription. I feel very duped.Review from Benny H

This is fraud absolutely. I have same situation. The $29 first visit brought me in for a trying. End up I have paid $118 for the first month. Then, I cancelled the service in writing in third week, but I have been charged $89 for second month. I said I dont need it, they still forced me to pay. This is fraud business model. Who should regulate this?Review from Leon R

***************** 2/15/2024 To Whom it may concern,On the 13th of May I began to see the chiropractors at The Joint Chiropractic at the West ******* location in ****************. I was pleased with my care and by June I didnt need to continue care. I saw the main Doctor and had him print out a report for my MD who I was about to see. I had improved to the point that I didnt need to continue to see the Chiropractor. I didnt Give this much thought after that. My error was not officially cancelling care. Yesterday I noticed when looking at my bank account online a $***** charge for the Joint. I got to looking and realized that this had been happening on the 15th of each month since June. (8 months = ***** X 8 = $632.00) Today I went to the location and lodged my complaint and asked for this payment to cease. I indicated that I was not happy. The receptionist replied that I had signed a contract with them to make these withdrawals. I again asked for this to stop, and she indicated she would arrange for this. She printed out the contract for me but offered no remedy except cancelation of the agreement. (They had processed another month the day before.) Though they insisted this was explained to me at the beginning What I thought I had agreed to be an initial set of treatments for a two-month period. It is my error that I didnt notice these payments sooner, but this seems deceptive to me. This letter is to make a record of this interchange, and my disappointment in this practice.Sincerely Yours ************************- Better Business Bureau *******************Review from Jerome A

I am very disappointed by The Joint's business practice. I went there in October for treatment of lower back pain due to an injury. I was treated respectfully and professionally. I was charged $29 for an initial visit. The chiropractor recommended I return for additional visits and offered me a special rate of $89 for 6 visits within the next month with the provision that I agreed to pay an additional $89 for 4 visits the following month which I agreed to. At the end of the second month, I was told that I had no more visits and was offered several packages for additional treatments. I opted not to purchase a package and was told that I could return anytime for a fee of $45 per visit. 2 months later, I discovered that my credit card account was debited $89 twice even though I did not return for additional treatments. When I contacted the office manager at the ********* office and informed her that I did not agree to continue on a package plan she informed me that the agreement which I signed when I initially accepted the offer of 2 months of visits included a clause stipulating that my account would be debited for $ 89 a month until I cancelled the plan in writing by filling out a cancellation notice in person. I told her that I was not informed of this when I was offered the various packages at the end of my 2 months of prepaid care. She repeated that I agreed to those terms when I signed the initial agreement. I asked her to show me the agreement I had signed and where it said that my account would be debited $89 a month forever. She could not find the clause herself but gave me a copy of the agreement which consisted of 6 pages of confusing fine print. I was able to locate the clause which I had initialed. I think this is a dishonest way of doing business. It was intentionally deceptive to neglect to inform me of the terms and to rely on 6 pages of fine print to hide the feature which I never would have agreed to. I believe this practice is a scam!
