On 4/15/2024 I contacted ATD Construction and spoke with Josh M**** about a residential roof repair job I needed done. He seemed knowledgeable and we scheduled an estimate. On 4/16/2024 around 1 pm, he and his wife Amy came to the property and discussed repairs. They convinced me to proceed with the work and asked for a check in the amount of $12,000.00. He said this should cover most if not all of the work. He did not provide a receipt and said he would bring it later along with a detailed breakdown of what work was to be performed and materials to be used. Something told me to wait but he and Amy pressured me into making payment right away. They told me they would have to report the issue to code enforcement if I didn't and I would be fined. They assured me they would handle the problem right away. The check was cashed an hour later and now they are not responding to calls or texts. The voicemail is full. As many other seniors, I live only on social security and $12,000 took almost all my savings. I should have known better. I know I'll never see a refund but maybe this will help others to stay clear of Josh and Amy from ATD Construction.Initial Complaint

The owner and his wife set up a stand at a local town fair and we had them come and give us an estimate. A down payment of 50% was paid in late August 2023 at a location that is NO LONGER their address for the work to start in September 2023. He did not show up on several promised dates with numerous excuses. There were a few days he did not come due to one of our family members being sick. The days after this he either did not show up or contact us for hours or reach out to us only after we reached out to him with additional excuses including one day being a no call, no show. Over a period of about 2 weeks he did about ONE HOUR of work for us. When he finally returned we told him we no longer wanted him to do the job, as we were in a time crunch to have the work done and we saw the writing on the wall, so he said he would write us a refund check that night and mail it. Nothing was received and we reached out to him by e-mail again and again where he two more times said he would refund our money but nothing has ever been received!! During our tenure with this contractor we found him to be very unprofessional and nasty in his e-mail responses and was full of excuses and spouted falsehoods I do not believe I will ever see any refund from him but I hope all these complaints will justify not hiring him. DO NOT believe anything he states and definitely find yourself another handyman/contractor!!Initial Complaint

As one of the partners of our business, ***** *** *********** ** ***** **** *********** **, we hired ATD Construction, (Josh and Amy M****) to replace the front porch at the office building. We issued a check in the amount of $600 on 10/2/23 for an initial payment for labor and materials. ATD ripped out the front porch and began to lay a yellow pine floor and do some necessary repairs. They needed to order more wood for the repair and we issued a second check in the amount of $350 on 10/30/23 to cover that cost. Once that check was issued, they never returned to complete the job. When contacted by text message, Josh had one excuse after another for why they did not show up on dates they had committed to. Josh also claimed he had wood "on order" but the order was delayed or the "wrong" order arrived and needed to be re-ordered or, finally, he was unable to obtain the necessary wood anywhere. It became clear to us that ATD was not going to return to complete the work and that the porch was left in a state that made it unsafe for entry and exit. We then requested a return of our $350 second payment which was supposed to pay for the newly "ordered" wood. At that point, ATD stopped responding to texts, voice mail was always full. We had to hire someone to secure the porch through the winter. The purpose of this complaint is twofold: to file a formal complaint with the BBB that this business is unreliable and from the way this played out, may never have intended to complete this job in the first place. Secondly, if at all possible, we would like a return of our second payment of $350 as this was money taken with no service provided. We hired ATD on the recommendation of a neighbor who used them for some work on her home which they completed satisfactorily. Our experience, unfortunately, was quite the opposite. On the basis of our experience, at the very least they should be removed as a recommended business by the BBBInitial Complaint

On Sept. 6, 2023, $1100 was paid to Josh (the owner of the business) for materials so that he could install shingles on a porch roof at one property of ours as well as the shingles on the roof of another property. He has postponed the work twice and now he doesn't respond to calls (the voicemail on his phone is full) or texts. It appears that he may have moved.Initial Complaint

Hired ATD construction after speaking with owner, Josh Mower, on August 2023 to fix a house in Binghamton. He quoted me 10,000 dollars. Estimate included structural repairs, electrical, plumbing, flooring, drywall, paint, exterior, etc. Timeframe was going to be 2 weeks. He began work on October 2023 and we were in constant communication. He continued working on the home until December 2023. In January 2024 I called him, texted him and he no longer responded. I've paid him 5,000 and he has done minimal work. He has blocked my calls and no longer responds.Initial Complaint

On 9/6, I provided a deposit to ATD for an attic window replacement and trim repair. The job had initially been requested via text on 8/22. In person and via text 9/5, it was agreed that the job would be scheduled in October for $500. They cashed the 50% deposit of $250 on Friday 9/8. As of 11/28 they will not schedule the job. Communication has been with Josh M***** On 10/31, via text they scheduled the job on Friday 11/3 at 1pm. They did not show up or notify me of their absence on 11/3. I texted them on 11/3 and they agreed to schedule the job the week of 11/13. Conversations since then have been in an attempt to reschedule the job. On 11/9, we agreed on a date of 11/15. Because I was recovering from COVID, on 11/11 I requested to reschedule in a future week of 11/20 or 11/27. Josh agreed to reschedule. They have not followed up to my request via text on 11/15 and 11/16 to schedule the job. I called on 11/20 and got no reply and the voice mailbox is full. I texted on 11/20 asking if they would schedule the job in the next two weeks. I got no reply. I texted on 11/27 asking if they will return the deposit since they have not followed up on the job. I got no reply as of 11/28. I also never got a confirmation that the business ordered a double hung window as requested. Verbally at time of handing off the deposit they told me they would confirm the window being order via text, prior to ordering it. I followed up asking about what window was ordered on 9/21 and 10/5. They were still looking. On 10/17 they said they ordered a window, but they had never notified me before ordering as requested. Furthermore, the ordered window was not double hung based on the image of the product they provided. I requested a double hung again on 10/17. In a follow up text on 10/30 they would not confirm they ordered the right window. I was explicit at time of requesting service (8/22) and in follow up texts (10/5) that I preferred a double hung window.
