Summer 2022, I engaged Amherst Exterminators to treat a minor bee infestation. The deal, as explained to me by the folks at Amherst Exterminators, was that I'd pay for treatment and if the treatment was ineffective within a short window, they'd come back and retreat at no additional cost. The initial treatment was in fact ineffective, I called them and they retreated. At no time did anyone mention that any additional payment would be due on account of the retreatment. Instead, 5-6 months later I received an invoice in the mail for $45. I immediately called Amherst Exterminators to dispute the invoice - advising them of the foregoing facts. Instead of accepting responsibility, the person who answered the phone insisted that I agreed to pay the fee and that I received invoices via email - neither of which is true. As I explained to her, had I thought there would be an additional fee for them to come out and redo what should have been completed the first time around, I never would have engaged them. Instead, I would have chosen to try someone else who might be able to do the work. I only agreed to the retreat b/c I thought it was part of the deal and no added cost. Even the guy who performed the retreatment remarked that typically, when sufficient treatment is applied, there would be residue and evidence of it. Since there was none at my house, he concluded that the person who completed the first treatment must have applied insufficient spray. That is why the bees were still there. After the retreatment (2nd guy applying sufficient spray), I had no further problems. For obvious reasons, I am not paying this bill - and I would have expected any conscientious business to take responsibility for any misinformation, defective work, extreme delay in billing and miscommunication to the extent caused by them.
