On December 5, 2020 we provided a deposit of $2,700 for outdoor kitchen cabinetry to be built with “**** *********” material (a plastic designed specifically for outdoor cabinetry) per a contract Steve wrote on 10/31/20 for $22,829.26. He cashed the check on 12/10/2020 and the cabinets were supposed to be completed by May of 2021. The cabinets were not completed and we were accommodating with numerous delays due to COVID and hardships for Steve and later agreed to a completion date of March 2022. By the end of March, Steve had yet to begin the project and on March 31, 2022 he sent a new contract that changed (without our knowledge or approval) the building material that we contracted for. He now wanted to use High Density Fiberboard for some of the construction. After several email exchanges, Steve explained that he could make the cabinets per the old contracted material, but it would cost an additional $9,833.41 reflected in a third contract. After several additional email exchanges expressing our frustration and dissatisfaction, on April 20, Steve replied, "Regretfully, I cannot continue with this project.... You've paid for the drawings. As such I will mail the complete set to you along with a refund check for the balance of what was not consumed." To date, we have not received the refund check. An email was sent to Steve on May 13 asking about the status of the refund and he has not replied nor sent the refund. He is also charging us $1,250 for the plans even though we already had plans that we provided to him. He stated he had to redo the plans for his own use. Seeing he is not completing the project, we also feel we should not be required to pay for the plans. The only reason he did plans was because it was for his project. We already had plans and do not intend to use the plans he did.
