On May 16, 2022 my wife and I signed a contract with Mike Butler of Mike's Handyman Services of Hudson Falls, NY to renovate our bathroom for an estimated cost of $16,050.00. The estimate Mr. Butler provided included the following: Stripping of the walls, replacing the toilet, the wall sink, vanity, medicine cabinets, insulate the walls, re sheetrock, rewrap the shower, retrim and paint. The sheetrock to be used was supposed to be purple backed sheet rock. The sink cabinet was to be replumbed, new shower nozzles installed, and fix the drain as well as strip and replace the outdated light fixtures with new ones. Within 6 months of the remodeling, the shower caulk had come out, we had noticed issues with the wiring, the new light installed on the bathroom ceiling had been caulked in place that made it impossible to take down to change the light bulb or clean. The shower nozzles were not replaced & the originals had not been caulked or fixed when new plumbing added leading to water leaking in, rotting the sheetrock & causing black mold. The shower walls were not sheetrocked at all, purple back or otherwise & the shower walls still had the plastic remaining, making caulking useless. The walls in the bathroom were not insulated & debris had been left behind including a bottle of water with straw still stuck in it. The light switches were improperly installed, crushing one & leaving bare wiring exposed on another. The new light fixture was improperly grounded on a mounting bolt instead of the ground screw. The electric outlet had a wire that had been cut/left exposed, causing a fire hazard. The work had to be redone at a substantial expense. The contract has a 24 month warranty but Mr. Butler has chosen to blame my son, also accuse me of conspiring with his ex-wife in a statement & in an email sent to me accusing me of breaking into his home & home of his mother in law to take pictures of the damage that is was in my own home.Business response

This was already filed with the attorney generals office and I had sent back proof with pictures to their office as well the job was done 8 months ago and I have printed out pictures for proof there complaint to the attorney generals office the admitt to ripping all of the caulking and lights out because they wanted to be able to access the wires it's a shower of course there will be mold if you unseal it I'd also like to state the electrical amd plumbing were not part of the contract as they were asked to not be touched so blameing me if a leaky pipe that wasn't part of my job is ridiculous also blameing me for damage accrue at the hands of thiere violent ******* ***** chikd outburst of rage also not fair the pictures I have enclosed show that the outlets were properly caped before they ripped them out then selfs atmepting to upgrade to ones that they wanted which they asked my sub contractor to do and wasn't even part of the job but again is still don't right these pictures also show the shower installed properly and sealed in properly now I remind your thier son has been peeling the caulking for over 7 months now that is not a job done wrong that is damage accrued at their own hand I also have more pictures print from where they called me and asked me to fix for free damage thier son did when they locked him in the bathroom which is chikd abuse I mind you and we fixed that for free they also picked out three vanity's and keep changeing thier mind cause there so pulled one off the wall and wanted more duravle ones so I was stuck buying two of them out of my pocket but did with no addition money charged they also asked for avfree hitwater tank ibstaling which we dod for free and tricked us ibto painting and doing a ton of extra that isnt on the contract and all excess material was left with them and reciots to return what they felt need they have now fiked these conplaints which five different offices and have left horrible reviews everywhere costing me alot of jobs to the point where it is not harrassment and mind you if you look at his picturesbhes submitting half of them aren't even his house they are mine and work I did on mine and work I did on my mother's house that he is stealing off Facebook with out permission and useing in false pretense some of those pics are of the mold we found in our shower and the tile work we did at our house so forbhin to be using those isn't right either ....the kastvoartvid like to add is I can be emailed directly for more pics but these show it done right but he didn't have any issues with the job till I just filed for custody of my children from my ex wife who is is close friend now almost 8 months later he is herd saying he'll help her ruin me so I don't get my kids then all of these complaints go in....if this job was wrong or done in correctly it would have taken 8 months to file this that alone soeaks for it's self I mean how much damage can a 239 pound kid with anger and rage issues do a lot righfCustomer response

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ******** and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID 18451523 and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. In addition, Mr. Butler continues to make allegations about my son, who was not even home because he was in school while the home repairs were being done. As far as my wife and I supposedly locking our son in the bathroom, the allegation is ludicrous and scandalous and if Mr. Butler thought this was a CPS issue and child abuse, why didn't he notify authorities? Also, if the photos of the bathroom are not my bathroom as Mr. Butler alleges, how can he say that I did the damage myself? Again, Mr. Butler responds to the allegations with childish allegations that if you look at his own statements, contradicts themself. In the attached photo of the estimate in Mr. Butler's own handwriting, file "MikeButler7a", it plainly states that one of the jobs was to "strip and replace outdated lights with new ones" which means that, yes, Mr. Butler, wiring and light switches were part of the job you were hired to do. Also, that "install new shower nozzles fix drain" which means that yes, you were hired to work on the shower. You can see for yourself all the jobs that were part of the overall bathroom remodel, and no, none of the work was done for free. In the end, and I can provide copies of the cancelled checks, that we paid Mr. Buther and Mike's Handyman Services $16,700 which was over the initial contact of $16,050. The additional amount was for the hot water heater Mr. Butler says was for free. Also, why did Mr. Butler not include in his response to the attorney general's office the two employees who did 99% of the repair work? Employee Pete H*** only worked at our house one day and that was to fix incorrectly done work by other employees? The other employees, Ryan (don't know his last name) and Tyler K********* whose number is ************. Again, Mr. Butler failed to provide his info, why? I also have a statement I can present on request in writing by the contractor who was called in to fix the work that Mr. Butler and Mike's Handyman Services did improperly that he was standing beside me when I took the pictures of my own bathroom and has taken pictures of his own as well of what needed to be repaired as the bathroom was inspected. Mr. Butler's wildly false accusations that I am somehow in cahoots with his ex-wife, who I have not met to the best of my knowledge and have had no contact with are baseless. It seems as though all Mr. Butler can provide are nothing but false accusations in regard to myself and the work that was done. There were only two bathroom vanity's that were purchased. The first, would not fit in between the heater pipes that run on either side of the plumbing for the bathroom sink. The second vanity is the one installed in my bathroom. There were no other vanity's purchased unless done so by Mr. Butler using the money, he was paid but they were certainly not authorized by me. As far as any complaints filed officially, only this and the complaint filed to the NYS Attorney General's office are the only ones I have filed. I would like Mr. Butler to provide proof, links, and information to all the other places he states I have filed complaints at. My guess is that he won't be able to come up with that info, since his allegations are false and easily proven so.Also, other than the **** review, that is the only place I have made a public complaint, which I as a consumer have every legal right to do so. If Mr. Butler doesn't like seeing bad reviews of his business, perhaps he should provide better work and service. I know on **** I am not the only one who has filed bad reviews of his business recently. In the email Mr. Butler sent to me dated November 20, 2022, attached file "mikebutler19" he not only repeats wild and false accusations of me breaking into various houses to allegedly steal photos of other people's damaged bathrooms, he states that "now again stop the **** and move forward next letter next anything next B's post next review I'm gonna take some actions with my attorney as well as my cleuts who you have now violated their legal rights as well you may take me for some money but I'm sure the 6 of them will get almost 20 times that back..." This was clearly an attempt by Mr. Butler to intimidate or threaten me not to file any more complaints or legal action against him in this matter. Mr. Butler likes to claim he did work "for free". The work cost $16,700 and is stated in the contract that HE SIGNED, attached files "contractoragreement1", "contractoragreement2", "contractoragreement3", and "contractoragreement4" and states "I Mike Butler offer 24 month warranty". Whether Mr. Butler likes it or not, he agreed to this contract, provided work and repairs that were substandard and negligent and now doesn't want to have to compensate my wife and I for it and his only response is false accusations about my son, about me personally and what his own employees did and failed to do. Mr. Butler was only at our home no more than four occasions. On the initial visit, to have us sign the contract, take the deposit check for the materials and then the final check after the work was done. At no time did he ever even MEET my son who was in school at the time. Mr. Butler has made nothing but baseless allegations in an attempt to deflect blame from the fact that the work his company did was substandard and negligent. Regards, ***** ******Business response

The job was done 7 months ago they have done the damage admitted it in their complaint to the attorney generals off they had contacted me for a few issues 7 months ago they were taken care of nothing since then and now he has had my ex wife's boyfriend come in and demo the job and asking for warranty and such forth one I wasn't contacted about anything two he admitts to tearing it apart hon self instead of calling me three his pictures he's submitting are not only 7 months later which anything could have been done since then they are also if mid demo why not the biging and end just mid obviously he's hiding the damage he did and furthire more haveing my ex wife who I'm currently in court with boy friend is a conflict of ibtreat alone if he had valid complaints and called me ibwoukd have looked and tried to help but he never dod that he instead ripped the entire job out not only voiding any warranty he would have had but also not allowing me the legak and proper right to see any damages andnhe did this all 7 months later
