In December of 2021, I contracted Renowned Renovations located at 1 Hunt Grove Road Ithaca, NY 14850 to renovate a bathroom in my residence. The owner David H******* was present at my residence gave provided an estimate of $ 25,174. I made the down payment of $1,259.00 as required and work began in January 2022. I subsequently made weekly payments of $5,978.75 as the work progressed. The interior work was completed in February 2022; however, Mr. H******* informed me that because of snow on the roof it was unsafe for his worker(s) to go up to the roof to install the vent and connect the duct work so that the venting system would work properly. Mr. H******* informed me that he would return when the weather improved. During Spring and Summer I contacted Mr. H******* numerous times via email and text in an effort to have the job completed. I included in the messages that due to the vent being inoperable there was moisture causing the paint to peel in the bathroom and my concern of possible mold. Mr. H******* informed me that he would come and complete the job. Since my last correspondence with him I have attempted to contact him via text and email without responseBusiness response

I had two guys there yesterday and they installed the vent. I spoke with ****** yesterday and said I'd be going by there today or tomorrow to look at the peeling paint. He's given the impression that I've blown him off which is not true. As you can read in the follow-up email I'm forwarding you, I have been in constant communication with him since August. He then switched and said that I was ignoring calls emails and texts after that. I acknowledged and apologized for missing his text he sent on 11/17, though, I was dealing with a personal family emergency which takes precedence over anything. I explained this to him as well. I also sent him a screenshot showing that I have no emails from him after August 29th. I asked him to provide for me either screenshots of the emails he sent after and of his call logs showing he's called, but I have not seen anything as I do not believe he can show them because no such thing happened. If this whole complaint is based on me not following up with him and blowing him off then I'd like for ****** too provide proof because I have provided proof of following up and showing no emails. I will email you immediately after I have visited and looked at the peeling paint in the bathroom. Please take note of what I said in the email I'm forwarding to you. There was a major moisture issue in that room prior to me doing demolition. The walls and ceiling was peeling so bad that the homeowner and I spoke about a possible moisture issue in that area of his home. They had no exhaust fan prior to my renovation and I installed one for him. If there is a moisture issue that's being caused by something else, an exhaust fan isn't going to help and paint is going to continue to peel. I have never had paint peel anywhere never mind in a bathroom with an exhausting. If the exhaust fan is being used daily while someone showering and the paint is still peeling then this is an ongoing issue with this room in his home! I intend on addressing the areas where the paint is peeling, but, I will not do it in the future as again there is a possible moisture issue in that room. ****** isn't going to get a room painted free in his house every year. The reason why I'm requesting him to either forward me the emails he claims I ignored or screenshots of them along with the phone calls he supposedly made is because I wisely pick my clients. If ****** is not being truthful then this will be clear and I choose to take my business elsewhere rather than work with individuals I cannot trust!Customer response

Better Business Bureau: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. On November 11,2022, I had a follow up conversation with Mr. H******* in my residence. He agreed that inform me of his family emergency until 11/30/2022. He attempted to rationalize venting me my bathroom into my attic because he himself vents his bathroom that way. I informed him that the reason the exhaust fan to installed and vented outside was because of moisture. I further informed him and he agreed that I was the one that requested said fan to be installed and not him as he stated in his response. During the time period of me waiting to get a response from Mr H*******, he admitted that either he or someone from his company did return to my residence and removed a ladder that was left there in order to complete the installation.. I then showed Mr H******* that his response time increased from daily to weekly and then monthly until said complaint was initied. I asked him man to man if the job would have been completed on 11/28 or 11/29 without the complaint and he responded probably not. ****** ***********Business response
