I entered into contract with RODO in which they agreed to buy out my leased car, pay off the balance to lexus financial, and provide me the check in amount of $8900 to me directly. RODO has promised to send payoff to lexus financial in 5 to 8 business days, and send an equity check to me in 3 to 5 business days once they pick up the car. They picked up the car on April 15, 2024. It has been 35 days since, and neither car has been paid off, not I received any equity checks. I'm unable to resolve this situation with RODO directly, although I made multiple contacts with their customer support in order to resolve this.Attaching copy of contract. All documents are under my wife's name, *********************, since the leased Lexus in question was under her name. Thanks

On 4/04/2024, I paid RODO $5,293.61 for the difference in a lease buyout through ************** for my 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee and they agreed to pay the remaining balance to ************** in the amount of $37,300 and advised payment would be sent within 10 business days. I last heard from ******************* with RODO on 4/24/2024 and he advised that payment had been issued from RODO to **************. I spoke with ************** on 5/03/2024 and they advised there is no record of communication or payment from RODO as it relates to the lease buyout. I have tried reaching all contacts I have available for RODO, numerous times by phone and by email to follow up on the status of the payment for my vehicle. Please assist.

I sold my car to Rodo, they asked me to overnight the Title to them and in turn said that once they received the title they would overnight the check for the sale price of the car to me. When I received the check it was $50 less than the agreed upon sale price. When I inquired about the discrepancy I was told there was a $50 charge for overnight shipping. This was never mentioned and no other shipping options were presented to me. I requested that they refund the $50 and the manager there said that the person I was dealing with claimed that they had told me about the $50 fee and that since the actual cost of the shipping was $48 they would refund me only $2. If I had been informed of the $50 fee I would never have opted for overnight shipping given their office to my home is about 14 miles and the check likely would have arrived in 1-2 days anyway.

On 12/27/2021, I agreed to sell my leased *** to RODO based on their online offer over several other competitors. Transaction overall went smoothly although communication was the company was not great and their team ignore several of my emails included confirming the exact equity amount to be paid to me. Approximately a week after they picked up the car, I received my equity payout and it was not the expected amount. The RODO rep did not return my calls, however after speaking with *************, it was explained that my security deposits were applied to the buyout, which happened without my written authorization as required. Taking into account the security deposits, the payout was exactly $1,000 short, similar to many other complaints about RODO here. I finally was able to speak with *********************, who claimed the $1,000 was due to a fee charged by *************. I refuted that claim as *** confirmed the payoff amount was identical to my personal payout, and his story changed that it's a fee charged by the dealer they used to processed the buyout and was the "cost of doing business". Eventually RODO's CEO, ***********************, called me as I accused RODO of fraud due to the underpayment and clearly forged signatures of buyout documentation provided by *** including the security deposit release form. He was combative as well and continued to justify not disclosing the $1,000 fee. After visiting BBB's website months later, it's disappointing that they continue to deploy this tactic when buying out vehicles as there are several identical complaints.

Please consider the below our final response on this matter.

      ======================

We sincerely regret ********************* negative opinion of Rodo.

While we do not agree with his version of events and thoroughly reject any accusations of wrongdoing, we had multiple conversations with ***************** in early 2022.  These conversations, which involved our senior management, were a good faith attempt to bring the matter to an amicable close and included an offer to settle the matter for $1,000, an offer which was rejected.

Having turned down our original offer of $1,000, ********************* motivations to continually pursue this matter are known only to him.

Rodo Trader is a trusted company that has conducted thousands of transactions with individuals to buy their cars with speed, convenience and fair pricing.

      We consider this matter closed.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

RODO does not agree with the versions of the events, but yet to provide any explanation of the missing $1,000.  Their own documentation shows that $1,000 more was paid to their dealer who facilitated the buyout compared to the buyout documentation from *************.  There are several other identical complaints on BBB outlining how these third party fees paid to their dealerships were subtracted from the agreed upon price without disclosing them, so clearly not a one-off incident.

I never received an offer from RODO to resolve this dispute that did not include stipulations that I was not comfortable with.

After corresponding via e-mail with Rodo representative *************************************** for nearly a month, I agreed to sell Rodo my 2020 ***** Pilot in late May. The vehicle was a lease through ***** Financial in a good equity position. The vehicle was picked up on June 8. I received an equity check from Rodo on June 14 for $4,841.36 which is exactly $1,000 less than it should have been (Sale Price $39,550 - ***** Payoff $33,708.64 = $5,841.36). When I asked ******** about the difference he said that it was the amount that ***** charges for them to purchase the lease (not that it matters because it was never disclosed but I do not know if this is even factual at this point). When I challenged ******** on this, he advised that he had disclosed this fee in prior correspondence. All of our correspondence was via e-mail so I responded, copying Rodo CEO ***********************, to set the record straight and provided our entire e-mail chain to prove that ******** was mistaken. That was on Friday June 17 and I have not received a reply from ******** or anyone else from Rodo since then. There has been no resolution. Also -- Per my conversation with ***** Financial on June 21, they have not received the payoff check that ******** claims was delivered to them on June 13.The resolution is simple - I am owed an additional $1,000 from Rodo and I need them to provide acceptable documentation and tracking information for the payoff that was remitted to ***** Financial. Please let me know if any other documentation is necessary or requested. Thank you for your help in this matter.

Rodo strives to provide the highest level of professionalism, our platform is a marketplace for dealers and consumers across the country.

In a third party lease buyout such as this, the amount of equity payable to the customer may differ from that of the total amount displayed on the **** of Sale due to fees owed to the third party involved. In this case, $1,000 was the total amount of third party fees does reconciles with the total paid by Rodo of $39,550. We have made several efforts to explain and resolve this to the customer, including an offer to unwind the purchase and return the vehicle to him, which the customer declined.

If you have any further questions about the transaction, please do give us a call at ************.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

This company response does not address the fact that no fees were ever disclosed to me prior to sale. As evidenced by the correspondence I've provided, there is no mention of any fees (third-party or otherwise) at any time before I discovered that the equity check was short $1,000.00. If Rodo intends to hold customers responsible for fees (third-party or otherwise), that needs to be disclosed prior to an offer or acceptance of an offer.

I discussed these items with Elgin Swift, Rodo representative, today. Elgin offered, on behalf of Rodo, to pay $500 (half of the $1,000 difference) as an "act of good faith" (his words), which I declined. A true act of good faith would be changing their business practices (per web search, I am clearly not the only one affected by this same scenario).

Note that the *************** account has been satisfied in full, payment of $33,708.64 received.

I am still owed $1,000.00 by Rodo. Please advise.

In a third party lease buyout such as this, the amount of equity payable to the customer may differ from that of the total amount displayed on the **** of Sale due to fees owed to the third party involved. In this case, $350 was the total amount of fees which does arrive us at the total paid by Rodo of $18,600.00 . I reached out to Rodo to get a quote for selling both of my leased vehicles. One was a 2021 ******* *** which was picked up over a week ago and the other is a 2022 Acura MDX which was picked up this past Monday and has already been delivered to the destination it was supposed to go per the tracking that I have. I have asked numerous times for them to provide proof of payment that the cars have been paid off. I was told that supposedly the ******* was paid off and that the payoff was received by ******* this past Wednesday but yet they have refused to provide me any proof of payment or tracking number to show that a payment was delivered. As far as the Acura, I have asked them again multiple times to send me proof of payment as the payment shouldve been already sent per their terms and conditions. I was told when the cars are picked up they process the payoff payment within 2 to 3 business days which it has been and yet I have received no response from the company. My contacts have been ******** and ***** and Ive emailed both of them multiple times with no response. I want them to pay off the cars immediately and give me proof of payment as confirmation that payments have been made. If a check has been sent I want a copy of the check and I want the tracking number for the check that was mailed. If it was a wire I want wire confirmation details to show proof of payment. I have every right to see proof of payment because these cars are still legally under my name and I am financially liable for them until its paid off and I specifically told them that the ******* is coming up due next week . ******** has refused to give me any proof of payment and only supplied me with a check number and Im supposed to take his word that the check was delivered without any tracking number or any additional details. As far as the Acura Ive received zero details and they already have both cars in their possession. I checked ******* and there are no payment showing received
