In June of 2022 I was contacted by impact media publishing by email which explained to me that a book that I had written had been acquired from *********** publishing.I was told that I will receive $198,000 for my book but first I had to prepare for the submitting of the book to the Publishing Company. They then proceeded to ask for payments for various services such as website development, a book review, and multiple stamp and seals that was needed to sign the contract. To date I have not received any of those actions that was promised by the company. When I stated that I didn't have any more money to give to this company they stopped communicating with me all together and when I asked for a refund I still heard no response from them at all.I payed this company up to $11,000 under the impression that I would get a book acquisition deal when it did not happen. This also caused me to go into debt with my bank that I have to pay off. It is clear to me now that I was scammed and I would very much like some resolution in this matter.Initial Complaint

**************************************************************************** ************** Main Office**** ***************************************************************************** ********************************************************************************* ************** Mailing Address:PO ******************************* In early June 2022 I was contacted by *******************, a literary agent from Impact Media Press. She said MacMillan Publishers were interested in purchasing Book Rights to my daughter's book The Adventure of Cotton Candy- La ******** de ******* de Azucar. She sent me a letter on MacMillan Publishers letterhead stating the same. The price they were willing to pay was $150000. She then asked me for $5000 to prepare a Query Letter, a Book Trailer and a Website. The letter also stated that it was a guaranteed contract that would be completed in 4 weeks. I said I did not have $5000. **** said Impact Media would bear most of the cost and asked for $1500. I paid the $1500 on June 3, 2022. A week later I received a couple of copies of Query Letters. **** also sent me another letter from MacMIllan Publishers which stated that they would pay ******* for the Rights to the book. I was asked to make a payment of $7500 for Fees etc in order to get the final signing. I said I did not have $7500 and **** wrote back saying she would escalate the issue and she would cover that herself, if necessary. Since then there has been no communication from Impact Media Press.I have left several voicemails to **** as well as to the Admin of impact media press but no response. On Friday July 15th I started a dispute from my bank and credit card company to recover my funds. What has happened here is a case of fraud and the company should refund my money and explain their actions. The company should also pay me punitive damages. It is wrong to raise a person's expectations like this, get their funds and then stop all communication.Customer response
