The owner of Your Way Home Improvement came to give us an estimate on August 17th to inspect and repair our soffits to keep pests out. He did so, showed us a piece of ripped off notebook paper with the estimate on it and asked for a $1,000 deposit for needed materials; the total price would be approximately $1,900. Because we have had such a difficult time trying to find someone to do this job, we foolishly wrote a check for the $1,000 without a written contract. Mr. Hedrick told us that he would start the job either Friday the 19th or Monday the 22nd. The check cleared our account on the 19th but we still had not heard from Mr. Hedrick. On Monday the 22nd I texted Mr. Hedrick and asked him when he planned to begin work on the soffits, reminding him he had mentioned the 19th or the 22nd. He responded that he had just gotten his phone back, that his brother was helping him on the job because he had a truck to carry the ladder and it shouldn't be much longer. I thanked him for responding so quickly and told him that quite frankly we were getting nervous. He responded that there was no need to be nervous. On the 25th I texted Mr. Hedrick again asking for a start date. He stated that he had just messaged his brother and would get back to us as soon as he received a response. There was no reply from Mr. Hedrick. On Monday the 29th I texted Mr. Hedrick requesting that our $1,000 deposit be returned as soon as possible and that we would find another contractor to do the job; no response. I texted Mr. Hedrick again this morning (8/30) saying, "I guess we're not going to get our deposit back since you didn't respond to yesterday's text"; no response. I really have no supporting documents (my foolishness!) except the cancelled check and the chain of text messages.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. There is no need for this business to contact us to resolve the complaint. We have had the work done by another contractor and only want our $1,000.00 deposit returned.  Regards,  ****** *******

In October 2021, I hired Your Way Home Improvement, LLC, owner Ron Hedrick, to rehab a house. We had three contracts. The first contract was completed. We then wrote up a second contract in which Mr. Hedrick would rebuild the roof and put on a new metal roof, frame up interior walls as per floor plan, fix the back foundation, install attic and crawl space accesses. Before he had completed this contract, we added a third contract in which Mr. Hedrick would complete the house, including all electric, insulation, sheetrock, taping, install interior doors, kitchen cabinets and windows. He also was supposed to fix the front foundation, and side the house. He did not install the crawl space access, nor did he install the metal roof. He has left the front of the house being held up by house jacks. He did not put on the roof, just the paper, which has been exposed to the harsh winter weather. He failed to insulate, sheetrock, tape, finish the electric, install cabinets, one window, nor the interior doors. He also broke the main water line and has not repaired it. Therefore, there is no water going to the house. I was paying him on a weekly basis, and everything was going well until January, when he told me he was having personal issues and needed to leave town for awhile. He was gone for two months. He did text me on March 14th stating tht he went to the house at ** **** *** ** ****** ***** and removed his tools and work trailer. Since then, he has stated numerous times that he would go back and work on the house, but that has yet to happen. He texted me on May 13th stating that he had too much going on and he was sorry about everything. He told me he was insured, but has not given me the name of his insurance company. He stopped all communication with me. I foolishly paid him all the agreed upon money, and he just walked off the job. I have been working with the Attorney General for the past three months, and Mr. Hedrick has not responded to them.

      Better Business Bureau:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

When I originally reached out to you (BBB), I requested that Mr. Hedrick honor the contracts the HE wrote up.  When he finally responded to you, he wanted to compromise, and said he would only put the metal on the roof, fix the front wall, and fix the water main line.  I had agreed to that, as he stated he would do it within the following one to two weeks.  That time period has come and gone, and he did not follow through on his own compromise.  Therefore, I am rescinding the agreement, and I am holding Mr. Hedrick to the original request that he honor the contracts.

      Regards,
      **** ********
