      Center Island left a pipe uncapped inside of a wall they constructed. Water was pouring out of the cap for two years and was discovered when water seeped through the floor boards. Mold developed and the flooring was removed. We want restitution from Center Island to cover the damages and repairs. They wanted us to sign a non-disparagement agreement to cover the costs and we refused. Then they removed the *** but want us to sign a document that would absolve them from any future discoveries of damage due to their negligence. That is the only way they will give us a check. Working with this company was a nightmare from the start, throughout the project, that continues today. We repaired many mistakes with our own money after the job was done, and we have the receipts. I can only imagine how many dissatisfied customers signed their *** just to get reimbursed. The owner ***** is * ********* ******

      CONTRACTORS RESPONSE;

      The following circumstances have been presented to us and not disputed by the client:

      - All work has been inspected, and all permits have been closed by their municipality as satisfactory, including but not limited to plumbing work which was completed over two years ago.

      - Client did not put in a warranty claim with contractor, as per our agreement, and demanded payment for a third party repair without affording the contractor the right to repair or to observe conditions, as stipulated in our agreement with client.

      - Our work warranty if for a period of two years from installation.

      In spite of items above, the contractor has offered to reimburse the client for their full claim of costs.  The contractor asked only that the client agree, in writing, that this offer satisfiers their claim fully.  Client refused to agree to this one term.  Please see attached supporting documents.

      The offer to reimburse the client still stands, with the same terms of release of further liability.

      Better Business Bureau:

      I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because

      The plumbing passed inspection as the town was approving the plumbing for a sink that could not be installed due to lack of space. It was determined by Center Island and ourselves that we would exclude the sink. Center Island never capped the pipe prior to closing the wall around it.

      Our warranty was already expired and I can provide a recent email wherein a Center Island employee confirms we were out of warranty when we discovered the water damage caused by their negligence.

      The agreement they sent absolves them from any responsibility for any other damages we may uncover unrelated to this current disaster. We will only sign a document that states we have received reimbursement for the total cost of this repair and only this repair. We have no idea as to what other mistakes they have made. We have had to correct many mistakes they made using our own money and are concerned it could happen again.
