My father is a disabled adult, largely immobile, mild dementia, and on full time O2 in his home. He refuses to leave, so we have to deal with him in his home. His home is infested with bed bugs so we cannot get home health care or home cleaning services in to the home. My father has unsuccessfully tried to deal with this problem. I contracted with Enviropest, who claim to have a bed bug guarantee. When we contacted them, we made them aware that they would need someone to do the cleaning required and the prep for bed bugs since my father has no one local to help and is unable. He is also not able to clean in between treatments. None of those things were completed by the company (even a subcontractor), the house is still infested, and on the last visit, the exterminator was a person my father recently fired for failing to take care of the bugs. Not once has my father been asked to leave the house during a "treatment" even though with a proper bed bug extermination, he should be out for 4 hours. So either they are not doing a proper treatment or they are exposing my medically fragile father to dangerous pesticides. I finally got access to my father's account and found out that Enviropest was the company he fired (I didn't know this when I hired them to address the issue). So now, Enrivopest has charged my father twice in 2 months for the exact same service that is supposed to be an ongoing, annual process (thus scamming him and us), they have not remotely dealt with the problem nor did they do the initial service correctly and they likely made the problem worse. We have only received 1 report of service even though there have been multiple visits. I have called over 50 times using 3 separate numbers and my phone call is disconnected every time (minus 3 times where I left a message). I have never received a call or text back. All we want to do is cancel the annual contract, recoup the unused portion of that contract, and hire someone who will do the job correctly.

TREATMENT SUMMARY: Started initial treatment on the property 10/13/2023 and have serviced the account monthly since including services on 11/15/2023, 12/12/2023. Mr. McCarthy has been living in quite a filthy situation for many years and we have definitely recommended cleaning and companies that provide this service.  The property will have much faster results if the clients clean the property.  We do not provide cleaning and laundry services.  As we explained to the clients regularly including "What to Expect" emails and contacts, that advanced infestations take time to eliminate due to the unsanitary nature of the property.  There are typically many eggs cycles that will hatch, and elimination may take multiple applications months over month because that's how to products and processes work.  Products we use will eliminate these cycles, but eggs hatching may still result in visible bugs for some period of time.  Eventually the issue will be resolved as we have handled thousands on properties in this state and we guarantee all of our treatment plans for very extended time frame.  This is why we do not charge clients by the number of services.

AGREEMENT TERMS AND CONDITIONS: All treatment agreements, work orders and receipts clearly outline our refund policy.  It also clearly outlines the non-access policy which states non-access to the property is not grounds for non-performance.  We attempted to access the property again by scheduling a manager for 12/26/2023 but the client refused any further appointments.  It is also important to note that the clients refuse to access the property and that Kelly is not local and has not been on site from our understanding.

SERVICE REVIEW RESULTS:  We are extremely clear from the outset on the timeline and the scope of work.   All our staff have been doing this work for a long period of time.  Ms. McCarthy has no background or basis for her claims on the performance of our staff or the result of our service.  In fact, she will not allow access to the property from our management to review and ensure the service is on track.  We cannot remove the filth and hoarding on the property so the results will take longer as we have described.  That is why most companies prefer to provide short term guarantees and walk away from these situations.

TAKING ADVANTAGE OF ELDERLY:  The claim we are taking advantage of elderly is obviously a baseless attempt to smear our reputation.  We are one of the only companies in New York State to provide a written guarantee for 12 full months and also stand behind the work without pricing increases or added charges. At no time have we refused to go to the property.  In fact, the opposite as we would like to help the elderly man but have been refused access.  this elderly gentleman.  The fact that this client has left this elderly gentleman in only his undergarments and filthy living conditions for many years with bed bugs. Now that we are taking a few services and couple months to resolve a bed bug issue, but we are the failed party.  We have recommended cleaning companies, but the client seems more interested in monies than resolving these living conditions stating she cannot find one? The client stated no one has vacuumed the property in years and we recommend daily vacuuming.

CONCLUSION:  We are willing to access the site as promised in our guarantee and continue to ensure we get to complete elimination.   to speed up the process, we again recommend cleaning services.  Considering the client was abusive to our phone operators and called 30 times in one day using inappropriate language we would ask they provide any further communication in writing, text or chat.  We have no doubt this client will continue to pursue these outrageous claims as a means to "win" monies or smear or reputation.  The only losing party in this situation is the gentlemen who is living in these conditions.  Please let us know if there is any requirement for more supporting documentation and communication logs.

Better Business Bureau: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. Your company has never been denied access to the house. My brother, a Genesee County Sheriff's deputy, is required to be at every service call due to issues in the past with contractors stealing from my father. We cannot reschedule at the moment, which is why the most recent appointment was declined.  If anyone had bothered to call me back, I could have explained this, but it was also explained to you in our initial discussions that my brother needs to be present. My brother has been to every appointment so far and has witnessed the "treatments" applied, which are all the same things that were done in the past.  We were very clear that my father could not and would not clean. We hired one of the companies you recommended, and the way you saw the house on 12/12 was how well they "cleaned" on 22 November. They didn't even vacuum the floor. We have not found another company willing to come in and clean because of the bugs. We have adult protective services involved with my father, yet nothing gets done and he refuses to leave his home.Your staff were never sworn at, but I will acknowledge swearing about the fact that I was hung up on and disconnected over 30 times. I made it clear to the staff member that this was not their fault and immediately apologized. What kind of reputable company does that? What kind of reputable company does not call a customer back after the first time to try and resolve a concern?  Maybe this could have been avoided if someone had simply called back to discuss this and work out a way forward. But no, instead a robo-email was sent that did not even address the issue I originally called about.  What kind of reputable company has a phone service with 3 separate phone numbers that all hang up on a customer regardless of the button they press to talk to someone?  Even after I finally got through to a chat person on your website, I still did not receive a phone call from anyone in the company to discuss this, I received another robo-email trying to schedule service and to change the account password.  That is not what I have asked for at all.  I want to talk to a person about the service.Additionally, you say you have a 100% guarantee. My father apparently hired your company in 2021, the problem wasn't fixed because he never called you back. We did not know until we saw his account that you were the original company he hired.  There is nothing to be done about that, it is too far in the past.  My father paid your company again in August 2023. Again, he did not know this because the man who came did not identify himself as an Enviropest employee, so we thought he had hired an independent person. Since the problem was not fixed, and you have a 100% guarantee, the minute we called and you looked up his information and saw that he already paid for service within the past 2 months, you should have noted that and simply asked to schedule another treatment from that original guaranteed service and not charged him again. What kind of company sees that they charged someone 2 months prior for a 100% guaranteed service, and then charges them again?  There are zero documents in my father's portal (attached screenshot), so there is no evidence that you have ever even been to his home, save that my brother was present. If he wasn't, what proof would you have that you were there? All we want is one of those 2 charges refunded to our father, not both. We are not opposed to paying for a service, just not double for a job that is supposed to be 100% guaranteed.  It is up to my brother whether your service continues because he is local and I am not, and the scheduling is done with him, as was noted when we talked in October. Finally, all of this could have been avoided if someone had simply called me back.  That is it, a simple phone call 3 weeks ago to discuss the way forward and possibly get more aggressive in the treatments or to try something new.  3 weeks ago, we were willing to keep plugging away at this and looking at options. Instead, a paying (double paying) customer was ignored and driven to point of anger and frustration simply trying to address the issue.   Regards, ***** ********

He the owner guarantee this service to get rid of the pest in my home as well they identified the bug. As far up till May of this year 2023 I still have the pest in my home. A scientist from ******* ********** said the other company did not identify the problem and it is infested in my walls. I wrote a letter to Environmental Pest and still have not heard from them. Ms. ******** signed up for General Pest services on 07-22-2022, and we provided services continuously. We provided services for many types of pests in Ms. ********'s home as requested; this was handled over seven services on 01-30-23, 04-10-23, 07-22-22, 09-19-22, 10-13-22, 11-17-22, and 08-10-22. Whenever the customer asked for assistance, our staff responded and provided the requested services. Ms. ******** refused to allow us back on site to review any pest concerns after 04-22. We do not offer refunds which are stated clearly in all our documentation (See Attached.) Before this last service, we have no indications Ms. ******** was displeased with services. Lastly, we do not guarantee pest issues are resolved forever in homes, and our maintenance is designed to protect homes. She is welcome to find another provider for services, but our staff has maintained the property, provided services continuously, and responded to any requests expeditiously, as outlined in our agreements.

Better Business Bureau: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. Regards, ***** **********As I said in my complaint.. Yes you did come here to service my home. But you did not identify the pest properly I had to have you come back in between 3 months treatment to do it again on top of the 3 month treatments.. I text Ron one of the two brothers of the company or I should say chatted that is was worse they needed to comeback and you did but it was not working. So they were aware of this situation. Then on my last treatment Alonzo said he had to get a picture of the pest to send to boss. He did take picture I never heard back from anyone after that but had to have them come back again cause they were bad and Alonzo came in said it can't be treated cause he was just here 2 weeks ago.. Tried to leave sticky traps which I bought on my own and have all in my house!! That is not a treatment or any response from the picture he took to supposedly to help me. I had to go on my own have a specialist come from Out of state cause now I wasted a year on the wrong bug by enviropest and not treating them properly. It is going to cost me $18,000.00 for them to come out of state for three days in my home for fumagation. I do have a letter from them to identify the bug which I can email. I told Alonzo to go because I already have sticky traps which I did for a year...maybe he would of paid more attention if he wasn't so worried if Ron or the other brother  the owners was going to find him a home as he stated..because it was part of the deal for Alonzo to stay working for him. And most of all they knew this was no better if I had to keep having to have them comeback wouldn't you as a business man see this was not working. So ******* ********** from Pennsylvania has now to come here. So I'm asking tone compensated for the money I wasted with EnviroPest

House is 1700 sq ft - (I sent you a copy of treatment they used in home). They only strayed main bedroom/boxspring/headboard footboard. Then in main living area chair and on sectional. 1 side of usage of sitting 2 wks come back only some areas. Bedbugs "never" died of stop returning. They never asked us to remove any clothing out of  closets or dressers. Never explaining maintance after. The chemicals ruined our new box springs, stained our bed board foot board. After 2 weeks 2nd application bed bugs active. My dog bit her eye brow, Had to take her vetm that fee now I got to go back again cause it now caused a serious wound. They only used 1 oz in a 1700 sq ft home. Cause the fumes were so toxin it made my dogs throw up and my stomach was very nauseous for days each of us where, we had to open all windows turn on fans to air out. Then I called spoke withtheir employees anked about the chemicals counld't answer the questions but yet said he worked for them 12 years. I spoke with owner Bob A**** tried to work this out. I moved into a new apartment. The apartment came with unwanted guests-bedbugs. I found ********** (known to me as **********) -They offered a 2 year guarantee and unlimited service calls which was a lie. They also agreed to do this in installments. The company charged my debit card for $400 for the initial payment. After the first appointment the technician told me he found nothing. I noticed I still had activity so I attempted to reach out to the company and saw that my phone number had been blocked. I questioned the technician who said it was because Im only supposed to deal with him. I told the technician I still had activity and he told me it takes a couple weeks to work. My landlord paid $500 and I gave them permission to run my card for $100 which they ran 3 days early causing banking issues. The 2nd time the technician came out he stood on my porch and talked about my situation in front of my neighbors (so much for being discreet). He told me he felt it was all in my head-that he saw no activity-that he felt I was just being paranoid. I left him to treat the property and when I returned hours later, a man that had been working on the back deck knocked on my door and told me he feels Ive been scammed by this company because the technician left the house 10 minutes after I did. Once again the technician put in his report that there was no activity. I still had activity. I had to call the co. from a different phone # since mine was blocked but they refused to return my calls. They emailed me telling me my financial problems are not theirs. After threatening with an attorney they finally sent out another technician who did nothing but at least he admitted in his report that he found evidence of bedbugs. I tried reaching out to new tech to tell him I still had activity and he ignored me. They did not get rid of the bedbugs even for a day. I had to hire another company to come out. I emailed and called several times requesting a refund and got no response.

Began service with this company in April of 2022. We have a property in Hammondsport, NY that we use as a vacation home and we rent it out for others while we are not there. We signed up for service due to mice as we live near a wooded area, etc. When we signed up for service, I explained that we are a rental so scheduled appointment times must be followed through at those times because they will take place when we do not have guests. I was told they can accommodate that. 1) Was told their company guarantees eradication of the pest. We still have occasional mouse. Probably due to them not fulfilling time slots. 2) Would schedule an appointment online and they wouldn’t show up or communicate. Would receive a notification for a different date or no show at all. 3) Trying to call them and they won’t return my calls. They have call center take my call and then no call returned. Due to the following reasons, I would like a full refund from this service.

My wife ******* *** PEST CONTROL as we used them in the past. She hit the "CALL *** PEST CONTROL" button from her phone and felt something was off. She just guessed they were purchased by this new company. The "new" company showed up and charged her more for one trip then we paid *** for the whole year. There is no getting ahold of them by phone. They put a lean on our property for the invoice amount.

RESOLVED - *****, ***** – Client called for services, and we provided service on 03/24/21 for $276.67.  We provided subsequent service on 06/08/21 that was free of charge.  Customer called stating they thought we were a different company.  All our uniforms, trucks correspondence and information state our company name.  We told them we can’t issue refunds for people who “thought” we were a different company after services performed.  I don’t think this policy is any different than any other company.  We cancelled any further services and DID NOT PURSUE COLLECTIONS OR LIENS on the client after review. We followed all our policies and procedures and provided services.
