Horrible post-closing experience. A great milestone turned out to be a nightmare. We were told by our loan officer (lets call them V) our loan would be sold sometime in the future after closing. Didnt realize this sometime in the future meant a few days after moving in. The real trouble began when, after closing, the post closing department informed us that we would need to remove asbestos from the property (something that we knew was present during our initial inspection and knew that if it wasnt bothered or disturbed, wouldnt be an issue). If it had to be removed somewhere down the line, fine, but not within a week of us moving in. Our inspection was done weeks prior, which detailed the asbestos. As a mortgage and loan professional (of over 30 years by their statement), it was extremely deceptive that they had no inclination that an asbestos removal would be possibly necessary before the loan was sold. We were not expecting to spend more money. In addition, our loan officer ignored our questions on the timeline of getting this done. When we asked to speak to the post-closing ***** denied. When we asked when this needs to be done, ASAP. When we asked what would the repercussions be of NOT getting this done immediately, silence. So seeing that we felt we were up against a hard deadline, we hired a general contractor (another $3500+ out of pocket) which led to our boiler malfunctioning (another future costly expense). The post-closing **** would not take written confirmation that we are fine with the asbestos being present. The company, as a whole, only cared about selling the loan off to another company. And now we, as new homeowners, are out thousands of dollars out of pocket because of their greed and thinly veiled threats. This company was referred to us by a friend who had a better experience, but I regret doing business with anyone from this company and wish I wouldve gone with anyone else. Potential home-buyers, BEWARE and please look elsewhere!!

*********************** is a ******! He not only took an interest in the business end of our mortgage, but got to know my wife and I as a caring professional, if not a friend. Though we are far from being kids, this was our first mortgage and our first venture into owning a co-op, a home. Through all of the issues, questions and concerns, *** was the man. We can only offer him the highest praise and that doesn't cover the breadth of the work he did for us.

I had an experience similar to ******. First and foremost, I dont understand how so many people rated this 5 stars. My situation was simple. I was referred to meadowbrook through a national bank because I was denied. Reason for being denied was that I didnt have two years tax returns, however I was told meadowbrook approves with one year returns. They put me through to a loan officer that seemed ok the first few days. The loan officer at meadowbrook also confirmed that we were in good shape because they approve with one year returns. They offer products that no one else can offer, according to loan officer. When asked for a second year of returns, I asked loan officer why meadowbrook wanted second year returns if they only need one year. His response was dont worry, the underwriters cool. Well be ok. I reached out to loan officer a few days later, no response. I reached out again a few days after that, once again no response. One week after that, now December 30th, my attorney calls me and asks what happened with the bank. No one returned my attorneys calls and my attorney couldnt get in touch with anyone. No one on the main number. Loan officer not answering cell. She finally got through to the owner who knew nothing about my loan. She finally got a call back from the *** just saying it was in underwriting. Finally he texted me on Jan 3rd to tell me he received an email and that he didnt know what the email said but would call me before the end of day to explain. I asked him to just tell me if I was denied. Finally at 3:15 pm he responded and said he went through the email and I was denied because I was on unemployment for part of the year, keep in mind I made 300k during Covid, no debt. Also had enough money in the account to purchase the home cash. Luckily when I stopped hearing back from the loan officer, I applied through a broker and was approved. I close on Friday January 7th, submitted application on December 23rd. My rate is higher with the broker, however it was a significantly smoother process. Brokers know where to submit your application and dont have those ridiculous time consuming processes like regular banks or mortgage banks do. To summarize my experience, I give two stars. I cant give 4-5 stars because I was told in the beginning I would be approved with the one years tax returns. I cant give one star because the loan officer did respond in the beginning. He only went awol after he knew I would be denied without telling me. He was probably hoping I would just go away which frustrated me even more. Even if I was approved, its hard to trust meadowbrook. Not responding to me for two weeks, to the point where my lawyer called me to ask me if this was a legitimate bank or not, thats just embarrassing. Not only embarrassing for me, but for meadowbrook as well.
