I decided to insure some of my guitars and found The Music Pro Insurance company online and gave them a call. When I was filling out the information online, I noticed that they had a replacement cost line for your instrument. I told the girl that I no longer had some of my receipts for the guitars and wasnt sure of their worth. She told me not to worry and that they would give the full replacement value in case of an accident. She mentioned that the insurance company had people there that would be able to investigate the claim and come up with the replacement amount. Since I never insured an instrument before, I took her word for it and insured my guitars. I called ************************* the owner of Music Pro about six months later to let her know that I had an accident with one of my guitars. She let me know that the claim would be handled by Hanover Insurance Company. I did receive a call from ***************************** of Hanover and he asked me to get a replacement quote from the builder of the guitar. I honored his request and sent him the replacement quote that I received from the owner of ****************************. Since this guitar was only about 5 months old, I put down the price I paid for it under replacement cost. Unfortunately, like everything else, the guitar went from $3,200 to $3,700 not including taxes and shipping. I wasnt ****** concerned, because ***** did tell me that the insurance company would pay the replacement cost in case of an accident. However, this didnt turn out to be true. ******* was giving me less than what I originally paid for the guitar plus tax and insurance let alone the true replacement cost. ************************* from Music Pro told me that I should have put down more in the replacement cost field for the guitar and that I also should have been keeping an eye on the guitar in case it went up in price. Who in the world does this when they insure something, especially when its only about 5 months old.
