Before I started this procedure, I told the dentist and the representative that were in the room. That I could not afford the procedure. I explained to them to please let me know the cost of what procedure they were going to do so I could make the decision of it being done or not. There is a $800.00 charge on my bill for a splint which if I knew I had to pay $800.00 for it I would have never agree to it. I never received a billing statement. I had a follow up appointment 8/9/2024 and before I went back, the office manager stated I had a large balance, I was very upset and I wanted a print out on what was charged. When I ask the representative on why was I not told about this balance from any other of the representative. I have be going in and out of that office and no said I owe anything. I ask I have gotten EOB from my provided but know bill from the dentist office. I ask why I haven't received a bill they said they were sending the bill to an old email address. I have paid what they told me I owe and now I have a bill of $1, 651.23. If I knew that I would have to pay this bill I would never have gotten this work done. They only gave me the estimate of the Osseous surgery. They never mentioned separate bill for other things. I came in on 07/ 15, they didn't tell the pricing of the procedure showing $245 00 × 2 =490.00 never said anything, just billed me. I am disputing the $800.00 and the $490.00 , due to not informing me on what the pricing would before doing the procedure. I thought all that they were doing was included in the Osseous surgery. Please help. Thank you

***** came to the office for a procedure on May 24,2024. On that day patient paid $156.77 the actual patient portion was $735.10.  Then she came back in on May 31st for a splint after the original procedure, this splint was $800 and that was the patients portion. She did not make a payment that day on the account. She had an additional appointment in July 15th she paid $30 and patients portion was $274. When ***** came in on August 9,2024 I had let her know she had a balance with us. She said she had not received a bill. At this time she said she needed to update the address and the email address on file. I updated this information and went over the bill. She paid $100, decided not to do the cleaning. Then called once she got home to set up a payment plan of $50 a month. Since she had the balance she wanted to set up a payment plan which we were will to accept. Over the time from March 5,2024 till now ***** has had a total of $6,389 worth of work done and as paid a total of $286.77. The solution that we are able to offer ***** would be the payment plan that we originally discussed, since services were rendered.

I am rejecting this response because:

I am rejecting the response due to regardless of how much work was done, the amount should have been discussed with me. You don't just do work on someone and then afterward you tell them that this is the price. That is unacceptable. They talked about the amount of work and the cost, like I should be happy. I never was told about the amout. That is what's so stressful. They put a 800.00 splint in and took it off in a month.  This is not acceptable.

I did some research there is an act call "No Surprise ACT." Which I will be filling a claim with the Attorney General. This is like if I took my car to get a tire fix and they tell me well we did this work and you have to pay the rest. Without knowledge. I agreed to the payment arrangement because I never pay my bills late. Office Manager told me this is something I had to do.

The $800.00 Splint was never told to me about a cost for it or the other procedure. It was supposed to be apart of the surgery, they never told me about a  separate cost, just told me to come in so the can check the surgery and add the splint for two teeth.

      08/27/2024

***** has setup a payment plan with the office of $50 a month and we were willing to honor that. We normally don't do payment plans but we were willing to work with her and accept $50 a month on her overall balance on the account.

      Customer response

      08/27/2024

I am rejecting this response because:

I set up a payment plan due to I did not want this to affect my credit. I still do not agree with the $800.00 splint that was put on without explaining the cost for it and was taking off in a month. This is unacceptable and I will be filing a complaint with Attorney General due to the No Surprise ACT.

We needed to make an appointment for some dental work we were unsure if summit dentistry would accept our insurance since we had never been there so we called them they said yes of course they accept Aetna so we scheduled an appointment for My wife set for February 18th 2023 so she goes in goes through the normal first visit procedure X-rays treatment plan etc pays the copay and leaves then summit dentistry sends us a text message saying everything is all good The insurance has approved the procedure and we would just have to pay our co-pays Great so she goes back for her next appointment has the procedure started pays $500 of the copay and the deductible of a procedure that we were told was going to cost $972 and that after the 500 we had already paid we would still owe $95 which was fine Then about a week later we start receiving mail from our insurance Aetna saying that we had a $1,700 bill because that dentist was out of network which we specifically asked and also received a text message saying it was specifically approved I called them they completely admitted that this was all their mistake and that they were going to adjust the insurance and correct it and we would still owe the $95 and that would be it but they would like us to come back and to finish the procedure for free which we decided not to do because they had already tried to cheat and scam us so we had lost trust so not only did they try to bait and switch us on the insurance they also tried to charge the insurance and me as well double with the original estimate is and remember as of the first visit we only owed $95 already paid $500 which the total payment should have been $595 now I am getting a bill for $687 more dollars and they are not showing the 500 we already paid so just for clarity we were told the whole procedure was 987 $595 was going to be out of pocket we paid $500 got lied to about insurance and then still end up with a 687 bill and I do have all the receipts

We have spoke with this patient prior and let her know we would honor the price as if she had insurance that was in network with us. We did apologize when we were informed of this by the insurance company and agreed to honor the price previously agreed on. We have called patient since receiving this complaint and offered a full refund.

On 03/29/23 I got x-rays from the Summit Dentistry and was told I had 6 teeth that had holes in them and were starting to decay. I was told that I needed to have fillings done. On 4/11/23 Summit Dentistry performed 3 fillings on my left side. No pain at first but then pain started to creep in to the point where it was unbearable. I had no tooth pain at all going into the original office visit. I called the office to inform them that I had pain and then I remembered that my former dentist office had just done an exam. I called my former dentist to ask them why they did not notice this issue. I have been going to my former dentist for 19 years and there was never a tooth decay issue. They told me to come in and to get the x-rays taken by Summit Dentistry. My former Dentist, looked at the x rays that summit Dentistry took and he said he saw no issues or holes and work did not need to be done. He said the pain that I am now experiencing could be temporary or could lead to me needing a root canal. I only went to Summit Dentistry because I was misinformed in January that my former dentist no longer took my insurance. That issue has since been taken care of but not before being seen by Summit Dentistry. Because of the treatment I received at Summit Dentistry my insurance company and I were charged for x rays and a procedure I did not need. They were going to do the same unnecessary procedure in a few weeks to the right side of my mouth. In addition they told me they filled 3 teeth, my former dentist only saw 1 tooth filled. Factor that all in and my insurance company and myself were charged for 3 fillings when it appears I only had one filled, and not to mention the worst part of all, I still have pain. When I called and asked for my x-rays I was spoken to rudely and hung up on. I would hate for anyone else to have to go through this pain which is why I am contacting the BBB.

I am rejecting this response because:

Upon examination with my dentist, he mentioned the marks on my teeth. I told him that Summit Dentistry took pictures and showed them to me, the same pictures that Summit Dentistry has attached, and my dentist said they do not show as needing fillings.

FACT: I had NO pain going into my visit with Summit Dentistry

FACT: I had pain after procedure and still currently have pain

FACT: I have been going to the same Dentist for 19 years, never had an issue. Nor was I ever told that I needed a filling let alone 6.

FACT: A few months later I go to Summit Dentistry only because I was told my dentist no longer took my insurance, and my fist visit I am told I need 6 fillings.

FACT: Unnecessary dental work was performed on me and now I have nerve pain that most likely will need a root canal. Irreversible damage was done to me that was not needed.
