I put a down payment on a car about 9 months ago . It was recently repoed , but I paid everything I was supposed to pay to get back in my vehicle. They switched the title out of my name without my knowledge and still let me get my car back . Now I can’t get license plates for my car because they will not put the title back in my name . They are giving me the run around and still expect for me to make car payments . I do not have any documents even stating that this is my vehicle but I am still expected to pay a car note no weekly and I can’t even drive it . I need help with what I am supposed to do to further this problem .

I am responding to complaint #******** for ******* ********.  ******* had a repossession with DBS Financial on 9/27/2024.  On 10/16/2024, ******* completed the necessary steps to redeem the vehicle from repossession status.  When a vehicle is repossessed, the title must be put into the lienholders name before it can be sold at public auction.  ******* completed the redemption before the vehicle was sold at auction, but we need time to put the vehicle title back into *******'s name.  We have already ordered the title returned from the auction so we can process the paperwork to put the title back into *******'s name.  This process should be completed by 10/25/2024.  ******* spoke with DBS Financial on 10/18/2024 and was advised of this information.  ******* can contact DBS Financial at ************ with any further questions or concerns.

I bought a car that was financed through this company. The cars e check light came on, so I called LISA Warranty and was told the car was never inspected before being sold to me and they would cover everything. I asked for my money back or a different car. I was told no, I had no choice but to let the car get fixed. After about 5 days they delivered car to me. The car immediately made a loud sound and started shaking and rattling every time I turn. So I dropped back off at Firestone. It's now been 5 days and I keep reaching out, they have no respect for the consumer at all. So Firestone said the car needs an entire back end and they couldn't do the job. I've been without the car since 9/10/24 and I'm still making payments. They're very rude. This is not right I work in recovery to help people navigate through the community. I spent all that money to be scammed. I have everything I need as far as receipts and videos of proof. It's not fair this is happening to me. This should not be allowed to do people like this and get a way with this. Please help me get this resolved. I've paid them to catch rides.

I am responding to complaint #******** for ******** *****.  ******** purchased a 2014 Ford Escape from ABC MotorCredit in Tallmadge, OH, on 8/16/2024.  This was pursuant to a retail installment sales contract assigned to DBS Financial at the time of purchase.  ******** also purchased a 24-month, 24,000-mile limited vehicle service contract.  ******** has been in contact with Lisa Warranty on several occasions.  The vehicle is currently being repaired at Urbans Auto Center in Cleveland.  We are replacing the rear differential on the vehicle.  Unfortunately, ******** has disputed the payments that have been made to DBS Financial which has now caused her account to fall past due.  ******** needs to contact DBS Financial at ************ to get her account brought up to date.  We will not be able to refund any money paid to ABC MotorCredit or DBS Financial.

      Customer response

      10/01/2024

I am rejecting this response because:
The money is being held in escrow until the company has held their end of the bargain. I have reached out to the company on the behalf of the payment. I stopped payment on vehicle to hopefully get results. I've paid 2 weeks ago without a vehicle. I think that since they promised to pay for the vehicle since it never was inspected, that's fair to hold payments in escrow until the product has been delivered. I haven't had a car for 20 days now.

So I had my vehicle towed Urban Auto Center - ***** ****** ******, for a cracked radiator. I went through the finance center I purchased my car through called DBS Financial. They told me how much it would cost to get my radiator fixed. At the time of me taking my car to them my car was starting up with no problem except I couldn't drive it because the car would overheat. I paid 283.50 on 8/20/2024 to get the job started then paid another 283.50 when the job was finished on 8/22/2024. Urban auto nor did DBS Financial tell me that the car engine was knocking and it was a problem with the vehicle. I picked up my vehicle 8/23/2024 to take it home and the car cuts off and its knocking when I asked the mechanic about the issue, he tells me that he knew about it ahead of time but never put it in the report that this was a problem after I paid the full amount about the vehicle. I got my insurance company involved and Urban Auto nor DBS Financial sent the Insurance company any pics about the engine. Now DBS Financial has repossessed the vehicle and sends me a letter in the mail telling me that they are going to auction the vehicle off but still no pics have been sent to the insurance company to let them know if the vehicle is a total loss or not. DBS Financial is trying to get me to continue to pay for a vehicle that is damaged and broken but are not working with me or the insurance company to get this issue resolved, they are trying to sabotage everything and make it just disappear but still hold me accountable for something that they need to take care of. The only thing I want from DBS Financial is for them to email me a letter saying this will come off my credit and they can sell the vehicle. I don't want to have nothing to do with DBS Financial after this. I wasn't even offered another vehicle. I just want this resolved so I can get a vehicle that is dependable and without the headache or games.

DBS contacted me today around 10:01am to talk about the insurance company contacting me about the vehicle. I told them exactly what I told them before, that Urban Auto Shop didn't send the pictures to Allstate Insurance, so they reached out to Lisa Warranty and told them to send the photos over immediately so this issue can be resolved. I don't know if this has been handled yet but I am waiting for them to get back to me and let me know what are the next steps.

I am responding to complaint #******** for ****** ******.  ****** purchased a 2010 Subaru Forester from ABC MotorCredit in Bedford, OH, on November 12, 2022.  The retail installment sales contract was assigned to DBS Financial at the time of purchase.  ******* also purchased a 24-month, 24,000-mile service contract.  ****** spoke with the Lisa Warranty company on 8/22/2024.  Lisa Warranty is the administrator for the service contract.  Lisa Warranty advised ****** that in order for the engine repair to be approved, he would need to provide proof of the oil changes done on the vehicle.  The service contract stipulates that oil changes must be done every 3 months or 4,000 miles, whichever comes first.  Based on the time since purchase, ****** would have needed to complete 7 oil changes.  ****** indicated that he only completed 3.  Therefore, the claim on the engine repair was declined.  ****** was offered an interest-free service loan for the engine repair.  The vehicle also has collision damage and ****** stated his insurance company would be looking at the vehicle.  The insurance company has not reached out to DBS Financial as of 9/6/2024.  ****** can contact DBS Financial with any further questions.  Unfortunately, we will not be able to remove this loan from ******** credit report.

Entered by BBB staff LO Consumer states she purchased a vehicle on 6/20/24 from ********* Credit and DBS Financial is who she makes her payments to. The consumer set up automatic payments. On 7/5 the business took a payment of $346.34. She called them on 7/6 because she kept getting alerts that the payment was late. They told her they never received a payment but she sent them proof. The consumer went to ********* Credit to make a payment in person of $350.87. The payment that was taken from her account on 7/5 also cleared on 7/7 so a double payment was made. On 7/19 they deducted another payment of $346.34 which should not have been done. She has contacted the business multiple times but nothing has been resolved.

I purchased a vehicle from ********** in January of 2023. 10 days after getting it the control failed and I kept getting a check engine light on. I had to pay ****** dectuable to get the arm fixed. They didn't fix the check engine problem I was told that's what you get when you buy a used car. I put up with them until July of 2023 I told them to come pick up their car. It took over a month for them to do that. During thst time some lady named ******* kept calling and texting me with threats of losing my house and even my child because of them taking my home from me. She told me she would call child protective services on me to have them take my little girl from me. They are really unprofessional. Even after they pi ked up the suv they kept calling and texting saying they are going to repo it after they already did. I called them and told them they picked it up and ** had no record of it at the time. Then they told me I still owe them ***** for a car I didn't have anymore. It was supposed to be sold at auction. When they pucked up they call I called them asking for my car seat back they told me it was at the tow yard. I tried calling them to go pick them up and noone ever answered or called back. I called dbs again and was told by ******* that it was nit there problem. That I shouldn't have sent the car back. They threatened me so much that I finally told them I'll pay ***** a week because I was scared of losing my 3 year old daughter. Right now I am out of work and I am only behind ***** and ******* is at it again saying I'll lose my house and they will take 25 percent of my pay when I do get a job. I don't know how they feel they are the law. It's up to the courts to determine the amount not them. I have read and talked to other people about them I keep hearing the same thing that they prey on people with not so good credit and over charge for their cars and when they repo them they are the ones who buy them back for pennies on the dollar and resell them at them

      Hi ******,
This is Al at DBS Financial. There are several accusations made here, and after reviewing my records, I see no evidence of the events you described. You did offer to pay $25 weekly towards the loan to pay off the remainder after your car was sold.
Please note that you are still responsible for the loan regardless of whether you have the car or not. You have not fulfilled your promise. If you would like to discuss this further, please feel free to call me at ************. I am confident that we can find a solution together.
