I recently had my car sent to Cunningham’s Auto Repair Service. I had my car towed there on 1-14-22 due to the car not starting. I informed them I would be going out of town and to contact me once they found out what’s was causing the issue. They contacted me on 1-17-22 to inform me of a bad snow storm over the weekend and had not got a chance to check it. They assured me they would contact me when they found out more information. I was then contacted two days later on 1-19-22 informing me that my vehicle had been repaired without my consent, using parts they ordered without my knowledge. In addition, I was given no estimate nor quote for the repairs, simply the balance I now have there. I was unsure how to proceed until seeking council. I would like some more clarity on my options to move forward. I am concerned once I inform them of my issue with how they handled our business my property could be damaged in an act of retaliation.Feel free to contact me at your earliest connivence.Business response

In response to *** ***** complaint: I have been running this family owned business for 38+ years now ( It started in 1932). We have been in the same city, same location, under the same name for 90 years. We do not run a shoddy business. I don't think you could continue in business as long as we have, if you did not treat customers fairly. As for *** *****; I am the person he contacted when he scheduled his vehicle for repair. We make it a point! to mark our appointments that request an estimate for any repair work to be completed. *** ***** made no request. However, I DO make it a point ( requested, or not) to attempt to make contact with customer if the amount is over $200.00. When we tried to contact *** *****, we were informed by his phone service, he had not set up a voice mail. All we could do at this point is hope *** ***** sees a missed phone call, and call us back. If this does not happen for more than a couple hours, we will continue the work, as we need the bay space for other vehicles. With *** *****' vehicle, as many other types of vehicles, to diagnose a problem, engine parts must be removed, to determine the cause of the problem. *** ***** drives a BMW X5. He had a no crank situation. After diagnosing all the electrical was operational, we had to get the the starter motor itself. This motor is located under the intake manifold. Once the manifold was removed, we found the starter motor was in fact bad. At this point, the labor is already being billed, to diagnose the problem. So, not hearing back from *** *****, we purchased the starter motor, and repaired his vehicle. Here at Cunningham's Auto Repair Service, Inc. we search for the best price/ warranty we can find for our customers. This particular part we found for *** *****, is a lifetime starter motor. I am confused as to why *** ***** has not contacted me as of yet to any problems he has with us, or this repair. His only comment to us was that he was out of town, and could not pick up the vehicle until he gets back. He said nothing about the price, or that he was unsatisfied. As far as fees; our labor rate is at least $60+ less that the European auto repair facility just down the road. I am sure this is mostly the reason *** ***** did not take his vehicle to this shop. We also have a storage fee, that begins 3 days after the owner is notified of the completed repair. However, I have not made any attempt to add this to *** *****' vehicle. He told us he was out of town, and I understand that, so no fees were to be added. ($30.00 at the time of this message). I am unsure what *** ***** is looking for. Anyone driving a BMW, must know a "no start, no crank" issue with their vehicle is going to have a cost to it. Since he has made no attempt to voice his concerns with me, I am unsure where to go at this time. I believe the issues here are; He did NOT ask for a quote for repairs, and being he has a invoice for $573.93, he does not want to pay to have his BMW repaired. I will be waiting for him to contact me further.
