Lying, Cheating *** *****. I hired Haney Landscaping to Professionally Grade my Backyard to my Driveway as stated in the Contract (copy uploaded). I thought the grade looked low before it got to the driveway and expressed that to the worker in charge. He said he checked it with his laser it was fine. Since I only have a small old window and door laser that only shoots 1 small line not good for grading. I decided to flood the yard with water to see if it drained to the driveway. The water stopped 10 feet short of the driveway pooled up and it drained for days into the landscaping. I emailed *** *****. When he came to see the job, it was still draining into the landscaping. He asked for payment. I said not until you fix the grade. He then threatened me with property damage, he said " I'll take my equipment and tear up your yard". I told him I would pay him after the City of Bay Village inspected it. That's when Haney told me he didn't get a permit or register in the City. We agreed I would pay half and he would come back and fix it. I had to continually beg him in emails to come back. Haney didn't come back for 2 months. When he came back it was a couple hours before a torrential down pour was scheduled to hit. He dumped a truck of soil on the grass that was there. He had built up the dirt along the landscaping and the driveway and left the same low spot lower. I asked Haney where his Grading Laser was. He said "I didn't bring a laser or a permit where do you want it. He said this after he dumped the dirt on my yard. That's 1 way to cause property damage. I hired Haney to Professionally Grade my yard and Haney made a joke out of it. They stood around watching me struggle to get the dirt moved around before the storm hit. Haney then threatened me with a lien and legal fees. So I paid him. The rain washed away more than half the seed. I had a person that is registered with the city come over and check the grade. I have estimates to repair Haney's work. Mediator is goodBusiness response

To whom it may concern,
Please see attached before and final photos of work completed with grass established.
We began this project in May of 2021.
The day we completed the work. All was good. The next morning we received an email and issues began. I have over 40 emails with Mr. Moreman and not a SINGLE email has gone unanswered until 30 days ago when he began to call me a liar etc.
He had issues with grade, dirt, etc. We cam out 4 days back to back to correct the issues. He would gives us the okay each time and we would leave. The next morning at 630am each time he would say his wife isn't happy. You need to do this and that etc. We did everything he asked. The last day we showed up to fix grade again according to him because he didn't agree with our laser. He would use his the minute we would leave the job. So to receive final payment I had him pick the locations where he wanted dirt and had him use his own laser and for him to check before we left to get the final approval to be paid. He was upset but we were tired of playing games back and forth. We followed exactly what you wanted. When he went to go pay the final bill he couldn't even pay the full balance his words "I'll pay the first of the month. I get both of my checks 1st of month. Over spent visiting with my daughter. Oh well not a problem."
We have shown up everything he has asked. He had army worms attack his grass last fall. We even had a company apply fertilizer at no cost to him(even though it had nothing to do with us)
We have overseeded when asked, slit seeded in Fall of 2021 when requested. We have followed through on our end as expected. He can call us a liar all he wants but unfortunately he has done this to every landscaper that has worked from him. The previous landscaper even stopped by to tell us that they did work the year before, left a bbb review, refused to pay. Almost exactly word for word its absolutely sickening that someone does this to contractors year after year! He knows what he does.
And the poor contractors that supplied new quotes to him.. I hope they are notified because the exact same thing will happen to them as it has happened to us and the previous contractors.
Thank you

I stand by statements and say that my account of the events are truthful. and I would like an independent 3rd party to decide if the contract was fulfilled or done properly. Because his work doesn't meet Bay Village code and is flooding the neighbors yard. The reason for this is he didn't get a permit and do the job properly. Also when he came back to fix it he didn't bring the proper equipment or a permit again. There is no way to grade a yard without a laser period. I paid for a professional grading job. They are an accredited business and I would like to go to mediation with the help of the better business bureau. Thank You!

May 27, 2021 Haney Landscaping quoted for a new front lawn. Discussed and walked entire frontage of the property to discuss -rock hounding, eliminating, soil, seed. Joe Haney's quote states all areaS (plural) right and left side of drive. Option to add additional dirt to the left side of the driveway - dirt/optional-but all areaS were to be rock hounded/eliminated as quoted/discussed. We had a pile of dirt that I told him they could use and per his email he understood and confirmed he was to use that for the left side of the driveway - since we were choosing to not have them add additional dirt due to drainage. October 6 2021 they started job. On October 7th I questioned why they had not done the left side. Joe Haney called me to say he wasn't doing that side - even though we discussed it and the estimate stated all areaS. The work performed was not acceptable. The grading was not done well, very uneven and they used my own dirt that was intended for the left side of the driveway on the right. He did not estimate correctly because there clearly was not enough dirt to cover the whole area smoothly and it was cut short towards the front since they ran out. They parked on neighbors property without asking and damaged the area - they claimed they did because I have a new driveway (All contractors park on our street) there was no reason especially without permission to park on someone's property. He wouldn't do as quoted and only did slit seeding on the left - this did absolutely nothing. I told them of my concerns - they were going to come out and discuss - he already said he wasn't going to honor his quote on work they had credits for nonwork, my dirt and damaged the neighbors property. Grass never came in - Now They WON'T honor my 1 year warranty. My final invoice that even shows his "discount" still says 1 year warranty - I paid $4,961.58 for a front yard and still do NOT have grass. It's all weeds. A lawn service even said no lawn even exists now to even service.Business response

To whom it may concern:
The work was completed per scope listed on contract. Work was completed on 10/07/2021.
I spoke to ******** on 10/07/2021 she had a concern about the left side. We did exactly as the scope of work states. Raise grade along left side of driveway. We did that with fill dirt, topsoil, seed, fertilizer and straw. The reason this had to be done was due to finish elevation of concrete was 6 to 8 inches higher than existing grade.
We followed through with our scope of work. At that time I offered to come back out and slit seed the existing low area. She agreed. We came out offered that service at no cost ($325.00 service)
Nothing else was mentioned beyond that point. Service was complete.
On 10/18/2021 ******** emailed our office with additional complaints and refusing to pay final balance. This was 11 days after we last spoke and all was well at the time of 10/07/2021.
She had complaints of tearing up and access road to a farm(dirt/rock access road). We used this as parking instead of parking on her brand new driveway and causing damage and also not parking on the street. The street she lives on. It's a rural 2 lane road. Cars go up and down the street at 50mph plus. It's not safe for our crews to be parked on a 2 lane road and working off the side of our trucks with cars flying at those speeds. It's asking for issues/accidents to happen. Not one time have we heard any complaint from the farm owner. Only Christie. We offered to come back out and meet with ******** onsite to speak of repairs etc. She refused to meet and said she could not. We tried to resolve any issues she had and was unable to meet in person or close out any issues she may have had. She wanted a credit from the get go and not pay anything moving forward.
She requested a settlement to be done and move on on 10/18. After 2 weeks of not be paying paid on time per agreement, issues after issues with out her letting us onsite to resolve these issues or just even simply even meet with us. She wanted money off to be done from the beginning and thats all that they wanted. We agreed to the settlement to be done and we both moved on and closed this account.Customer response

Better Business Bureau:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
He offered absolutely nothing... This was the issue I had in the first place when the job was done. He is completely unreasonable.
Is response is completely unacceptable - as you can see he did NOT do the scope of work on the contract. He also will not honor any warranty as stated on his contract - I was refusing to pay the balance because he did not do the scope of work listed on his contract - and he used my dirt - he was expecting to use my dirt and charge me as well for dirt - which he underestimated. There wasn't much at that point to do - he was belligerent and non-cooperative that he wasn't going to do the left side as discussed and was outlined in the contract as well as his emails where I asked if this contract would cover the whole yard - both sides left and right. As far as parking in the street plenty of other contractors for everyone on the street park on the street.
At no time was I just not paying my bill - there were issues and they needed to be discussed.
I would have been happy to pay my full balance if he would have done the work on the contract and didn't use my dirt for the area that he claimed was already on the contract. In addition to the fact that the job was very poorly done - they ran out of dirt and there were very low spots sporadically in the yard and the yard didn't have a smooth - very uneven finish all over.
He was completely unreasonable to deal with - - he claims I was "trying to get a credit from the get go" - completely false- Clearly I was upset when he only did half the yard.. when we discussed and the contract said the whole yard.
I figured at that point I was getting absolutely anywhere with this ignorant and impossible man to deal with - I had to cut my loss, pay him (which I immediately did as soon as we we done speaking) and I woudl deal with it this year.
Whatever happened with all that stuff - poor work, unfinished.... etc - I expected to have grass this year. .. after all I did pay for grass.... and at minimum I didn't even get that. I had a lawn service come out to see what they could do to help.. they said they couldn't do anything since there was no lawn to service - it's all weeds. Which I should add - when they did the work - we also spent our time and money watering the yard. Another waste of money on our part. At this point the entire yard needs to be completely redone. When I contacted him this year about the warranty he wouldn't answer and then when he did he said I didn't have a warranty since I didn't pay my full Original balance - His final invoice still says 1 year warranty and at no time did he mention that was not honoring a warranty that the contract clearly states. I was emailing him with again the reasons for the disputes when the job was done...etc and he told me to stop "Threatening and Harassing" them - because I stated what his contract said.
I clearly do not want to ever deal with this person ever again.. but the fact that I did pay almost $5k and I have to completely have the job redone because at minimum I didn't even get grass is unacceptable. He should give me a refund because again - there is nothing to show for any of this money paid to them. How can this person not do what they are supposed to per their contract and then just say that's all.?

To whom it may concern:
The work was completed per scope of work. Even the photo attached shows the work being done to left of driveway to raise grade which was quoted and completed. The low spot to left of driveway was a seperate quote to raise and grade. Thay was not agreed upon and we did not bill for that work. That area holds water. Absolutely no reason to grade and plant a lawn in an area that is a pond when it rains. Nothing would ever grow or establish. The lawn work that was quoted was completed was installed with soil, seed, fertilizer and straw. A lawns growth is dependent solely on the aftercare with proper watering and fertilization.
We did everything we could to make the situation right. At the end the customer did not want to work with us or even meet to solve any issues there may have been. Emails upon emails and nothing we could do because they would not meet to discuss in person to resolve their complaints. We tried. Customer wanted to argue pricing and wanted a discounted rate to be done and move forward. After multiple attempts we agreed to a discount to move as requsted and we knew nothing was going to be solved.
