  On 12/18/22, a backdraft through the fireplace caused non-vented gas logs to burn until they were like charcoal. The carbon dust was picked up by the furnace and spread throughout the house. Using ******* list, I called several restoration cleaning companies. Xpert Restoration returned my call and sent out their manager first thing in the morning. They came in and started wiping every inch of the great room where the fireplace is located. The furnace filter was black, but they never replaced it. Just put it back in the furnace. After they left for the day, the black around the duct work returned within a hour. I called to complain and they sent out the supervisor of the company the next morning. After they arrived, they cleaned the very inside of the duct work in the great room and began cleaning the kitchen. I didn't feel they had done an adequate job of the great room so I took a short walk. When I returned they were cleaning a plant. I threw the plant out so they would clean what was important. It still was not going well. I asked them to stop and please leave my home. I since have run *****s air filters, had the fire logs replaced and cleaned, and had the duct work cleaned, all for around $2,000. The place is spotless without any further cleaning. I received a bill from them for 7,344.18. I don't feel the work done by this company was required and I was taken advantage of in a time of distress. There was never a quote provided. They were greatly surprised that I did not file an insurance claim. I feel this bill was run up as an intended insurance claim and the work was unnecessary. They also called in another company that took most of my son's electronics and bedding that was washable. The electronics left behind run beautifully. They would not allow me to purchase only some of the items back and were holding the items ransom until I paid the bill. I would like the Xpert bill removed. This episode has caused extreme emotional distress.
