We had our kitten neutered and shots a week ago and the cat died today. The cat died today after having no major issues prior and when calling Altercare it took 3 hours to get a call back and then the owner was very rude and had no compassion. Told us to drive the dead cat to Columbus OSU and have an autopsy and then if it was from neuter they would refund us. Also, said because we reported the cat had diarrhea maybe it was sick, well maybe if they thought that could have caused an issue they should have recommended blood work at our normal vet. WILL NEVER RECOMMEND AGAIN AND MY LAWYER HAS BEEN CALLED.

Hi *****, I will speak to each part of your review as I already have. This animal came to our clinic and the owner stated the cat had diarrhea for several weeks. I will also preface my statement by saying ***** was very difficult to communicate with as she continually spoke over me and continued throughout to call me names I can not repeat here. It did take me 3 hours to call her back as I was in Cleveland when I received the news that the cat has passed. When I returned to the office, I did my research and called her back as soon as I knew what happened. We do not routinely do testing on 7 month old kitten neuters. She reported the diarrhea to us, but there was no indication on our part how much, how long until after the fact, but because it was reported we offered to treat and made note that she should seek care from her full service veterinarian, considering we focus on spay and neuter only and do not treat illness or injury after the patient is discharged from their surgery here. On the day of the cats death, she had made an appointment for us to recheck the cat. This was 4 days after the male cat had surgery and owner had stated the cat had been just fine the 3 days after surgery. For those of you who understand the neuter process, you will know that if adverse affects are due to the surgery, they happen immediately and not after a 3-4 day period of doing fine. The cat, as I am told, did not make it to our clinic on the day of its appointment. I am told the cat was DOA upon the arrival at the Emergency Animal Hospital. It was while they were there that the ER the mention of taking the cat to OSU for a necropsy. I do wish that they had opted to do that, as it may have cleared up a lot of confusion on *****'s part. ***** is not the owner of the cat and I believe that is why she became so frustrated during our first phone call, as I could not give her much information. I asked to speak with the owner, which happens to be her adult children. She refused to allow me to speak directly with them. She states they live with her. The only time I became truly rude with her was when she called my personal cell phone number at 11:30 pm that same night to simply cuss me and call me names again. I await your lawyers call.

The "vet tech" was very rude & dismissive. The clinic does not allow pet owners to see, meet or talk to the veterinarian or go back with their pet. When owners ask to go back with animal they refuse care. You have to specify over phone or online why your animal needs to be seen & pay fee. If they are not equipped to treat the animal for the issue you provide nor will they allow you to speak with the vet about any issue they should not provide vet wellness visits. It is false advertising and the vet tech Harley is extremely rude & dismissive. She wouldn't answer any questions or give detail of visit to owners. She then stated if procedures need done you need to go to "an actual vet clinic" she explained to a cat owners that they would need to sedate her cat, lance it's ear and stitch it up. When the cat was returned to the owner the procedure was not done. Antibiotic ointment was applied & she said " we are a spay & neuter clinic you need to take the cat to a vet clinic to be seen" a woman was in for a puppy wellness & shots. The tech took him back & returned him in less than 3 minutes. When I said I wanted to go back with my dog, and that I wouldn't consent to treatment unless I saw the vet, the vet tech said "k bye" and walked away. The receptionist said they don't allow owners to go back with the vet because it causes them to get "caught up in conversation" and they can't keep their costs low if owners go back with animal to see the vet. When asked numerous times to meet the vet and talk to them in the appointment, the employees refused.
