It's been four years since we hired Schumacher homes location in *********** Ohio to build our "retirement castle". Visiting the office and sales staff was always upbeat and promising. Our daughter was participating and we planned to share costs and living space. As we started final construction details a few of our "custom wishes" had to be derailed because they didn't do business with certain vendors (like the automatic mini water heater unit). Building started and we tried to visit at least three times a month. Once there was a lone workman who said he was only there to "guard the company's tools". Frankly we never saw more than one worker and the job supervisor once the shell was up. Two big mistakes made were setting up the broom closet as the pantry, and putting a large hole in our custom tile bathroom when they put in the shelving for the wall-to-wall pantry on the opposite wall. As the finished date came closer, the office rushed us to *********** and handed us a check for $13,240, to cover unfinished items. For the following day they would have had to pay us a penalty sum far greYer...$25,000! We do not recommend this unit of the main company ***** *

We worked with Schumacher to build a Charleston model on a lot in Southern Delaware county. We found the process to be very transparent, the communication was proactive and consistent, and we had a great project manager in Steve P****. We were really impressed with how quickly the house was built. I don't think we are the norm, but our 2600 sq ft house was built in under 100 days. Even more impressive than that, was the quality in which they performed the work. We had several Amish contractors, along with other trades, and they all were pretty meticulous about the details. Like any construction project, there are always things that need to be changed or fixed, but Steve and his team were very accommodating and made the process simple. I didn't think we got hit with any hidden fees or unexpected changes. In fact, they worked with us to minimize cost impacts wherever we could. I would highly recommend working with them. It's important that you understand you have an active role in the process. The more you communicate, check on progress, ask questions, do your homework, the better results you'll have.

They are very loyal and dedicated to their work & customers. The staff in Lafayette is a great team and will help you with all the support and answers to your questions before, while, & after your home is built. Schumacher homes are built very well! I would highly recommend Schumacher to anyone who is ready to build!

I am providing this review on the behalf of my parents. I am hoping that no one has to experience what my parents experienced during the home building process. My parents are frustrated with Schumacher. They have experienced frustration from start to end of this process. It all began with the constant change in Schumacher's staff. This caused delays, a change in the overall plan of the home and change in building material. Also, my parents were highly upset with the following: kitchen appliance installments (stove hood is cheap and too small and the dishwasher isn't properly installed), kitchen island incomplete, interior paint (paid extra but Schumacher chose paint type), and the back porch doesn't look as if a professional built it. Lastly, before adding tint to the windows at the top of the home, the wood frame was visible. My parents have made phone calls, sent emails, and text messages to address these issues but no response. If only I could share photos of their work. It seems that the money spent was for the frame of the home. If you are looking for professionalism and high quality of work, we would not recommend Schumacher.

I built a custom single story ranch home in 2021 with Schumacher Homes. The building process was amazing, easy, and so much fun! It only took 7 months to build and that was during a time when supplies were low and in demand due to Covid. I was able to get great financing too based on the offers and promotions they gave me. The sales team was awesome, I was able to do custom items in the house, move and add walls. When I was selecting my options and colors they had a lot to chose from and I even was able to add custom options too. The communication with my builder was great. He would inform me of the steps he was on during construction and would answer any questions I had. I wish I could build again with Schumacher Homes one day and highly recommend them to anyone who is considering building.

I have been in my home for 5 years now. I still get angry that the architect changed my floor plan without asking. At the meeting to approve the plan, I was cut short because of the office schedule and no one mentioned that changes were made. I lost my 4 poster mahogany bed because of space and my bathroom was changed. I wish someone had just mentioned that the architect made changes, I would have at least had the opportunity to compromise of change

I love my home, but not the faulty hard, fiber board/cement board that they put on my home!! We noticed that it began cracking and were waiting for our 1 year walk through that never happened! Been in contact with them numerous times, and still no resolution! I demand that this siding be replaced! I wish would allow me to send photos, so you can see the siding, that I had to pay extra for, just to build in my neighborhood...do to the wind! It is so cracked on one side of the house that I am awaiting water damage! Cracks definitely allows water in against your home. Been dealing with this for 3 1/2 years...our siding was supposed to be replaced in 2023. No one ever showed up! I have dealt with this long enough! This needs Schumacher's attention!

Schumacher Homes has a fantastic process from start to finish! My wife and I built a home with the Greensboro location and we are 100% pleased with our home and the process we went through to make our dream a reality. When we 1st started our process of our home build we reached out to their in house financing Schumacher Mortgage to get prequalified. After completing the loan application we had a discussion with a loan officer about monthly payments and interest rates so we could establish our budget. We then was able to pick out a floor plan that fit our needs and was in our budget. We made some modifications to the plan, and then started pricing out our home. The pricing system Schumacher uses was awesome and completely transparent. We literally went line item by line item and had the opportunity to see a picture and description of every feature that was included in the home we picked out and had the opportunity to select everything we wanted. After we completed our price quote we signed to move forward with them. We then had a lot walk, where one of their builders met us at our land to get us an exact cost of our lot prep expenses. A few weeks later met their interior designer to pick out colors in their design center. Then a few weeks after our color selections did a preconstruction meeting where we again went line item by line item to finalize everything. After our preconstruction meeting Schumacher Mortgage ordered an appraisal then we closed to start construction. Schumacher built our home in about 8 months. During construction we got to deal directly with the electrician to get additional lighting and provide our own fixtures and appliances. Their were a few punch list items that needed to be fixed at the end of construction and our builder got right on those and made sure we were completely satisfied. We have lived in our home for 2 years now and I can say honestly say we are happy with the quality of construction and HIGHLY RECOMEND Schumacher Homes!

Our home building experience with Schumacher Homes was excellent from the start to finish. We were well informed through each phase of the building process and appreciate all the advice they provided. We also really benefited from the time effort that was made to confirm where to place our home the property as we are fortunate enough to take advantage of the beautiful sunsets. The Akron office team took the time and effort to make sure we the best floor plan for our family and we were able to customize our home to fit our lifestyle and family needs and we could not be happier! I would recommend Schumacher Homes to anyone wanting to build a home of their dreams!

I wish I could give Schumacher a negative zero. I regret going to them to have my first house built. It has been a journey to day the least. Once they finally built my home, there were so many issues to address during our walk through. They have zero quality standards from poor workmanship to customer service. The biggest issue is related to the electrical where the lights would randomly go out while we’re sitting in the living room. It’s been 2 years and I’m still fighting with Schumacher to fix this. And that’s after several follow ups on my part. I’m not even sure how they stay in business. They are horrible. I DO NOT recommend Schumacher as your home builder!!!! Biggest mistake of our lives and now we have to deal with it.
