On January 5, 2023, I had a Mri of my knee. I was charged a co-pay of $140.00. When I received my EOB from my insurance, my co-pay was $95.00. I sent them an email stating that they over charged me, and I was requesting a refund of $45.00. I received a voicemail back saying that they applied that over payment to another charge I had. The only other charge I had was for $44.03 in which I paid by check on Feb. 21, 2023. All office visits co-pay are paid at the time of service. I then sent them another request for my refund of $45.00 and a copy of the cleared check for $44.03. They never responded back to me. I thought they would refund me by the first of the year, but it appears they won't. I would like my $45.00 back. I don't owe them anything.

I was scheduled to meet with a surgeon(Dr.K**) of Beacon ****** ***** and I was not given the services by said surgeon but the notifications stated twice on the appointments that I would meet with him but did not meet with him or see him for either appointment. This is a fraud complaint and poor customer service complaint because I was billed and did not get the services promised. I met with an assistant that was neither a surgeon nor a doctor. I need to make a formal complaint about this type of practice. This occurred within the past month.

Needed to get my MRI, ex ray , and medical notes from Beacon Orthopedics sent to my ********* doctorsr. Can not deal with Beacon, have to use a third party company called ***** ****. Can only put request through their online portal. Not only did they not deliver my records, they lost them and told me it was my responsibility to track through. the USPS my medical records that they supposedly mailed. I explained that my medical records were their responsibility to keep secure, and not mine to continually track down. I have worked with my ********* provider many times to see if these records have ever turned up. Beacon tells me there is no one in their organization that I can speak with who can fulfill this request, they use a third party company.

My wife had a scope procedure at this organization on December 1st, 2023 I prepaid $4334 for the surgery on November 28th and an additional payment of $450 on December 15th. In January, I received another bill for $2000. We started receiving collection calls. I called the organization in January because it looks like they did not apply my payments correctly. The woman in the billing department confirmed that with the ****** insurance, I actually overpaid and were going to send me a refund. I got nothing and called back in March and she reconfirmed I had overpaid by $1700. I sent them a follow up email and haven't heard back from anyone. I have no other recourse than to submit this to you.

Called to get appointment with my hand surgeon from Tri Health. When I called, I was told no appointments will be scheduled until I paid a balance of $150.00. I asked from what and the very rude person said 2000 - 23 years ago? We had two insurances and she stated that it was only sent to one (that’s their error) and 20 years? I asked for the corporate number after she stated they can do this as they are an entity not hospital?. I had a stroke and my hands are very painful and now, no relief. What this company and Drs. Are doing to patients is unacceptable. What about their oath? I will try one more time or call a lawyer for legal advice. However, that might be more then the $150 or $105.00. Can’t remember. They would not get me a number for the corporate office or where I can contest this bill. Surely, they turned it over if that long ago. Drs. Think about your patients - it’s unbelievable.

I was seen on June 5, 2023 by Beacon Ortho and Dr. S******* due to a fracture to my left large toe. I agreed to and received an xray of the toe. Upon seeing the x-ray Dr. S******* indicated that it was indeed broken and showed me the location. I asked him what the treatment / course of action was for this kind of break and he told me that there was no treatment -definitely not surgery - at that point, except for perhaps a walking shoe / boot, which would only minimize pain and discomfort and hopefully lead to a faster healing of the fracture. He told me to make a follow up appointment for approx. 1 month later which would be for the purpose of reviewing the fracture if there was still pain, ie. it was not healing. I made the appointment, but later cancelled it as the pain was subsiding and I didn't want to take the time from other patients or pay for another appointment. Later, I received a bill from Beacon with a line item for $344 for treatment of the fracture. There was a separate line item for $35 for the walking boot/shoe. I was told by the billing department that the $344 was pre-payment for up to 3 more visits and treatments, to which I asked why I'd get treatment for something the Doctor told me could/would not be likely treated if it healed fine on its own. As of today, 11/9/23, the Doctor is stating that there was treatment provided, including in the form of the shoe (which is not treatment) and that he stands by the charge. I would like the charge removed from the invoice since no treatment was every provided. This is at least dishonest to not disclose this ahead of time and at worst, medical fraud/abuse.

I’ve called Beacon to schedule a appointment to see one of there drs for a issue with my knee. At the very beginning there’s been issues. The guy who answered was very rude very unprofessional. Finally told me there’s a block on my account and transferred me to billing. Then I was informed of a balance from 12 years ago. Seriously. I have no record after 12 years if I’ve paid or not. They said well you didn’t on our end. Since 12 years we have moved a couple times husband gets 2 cancers had to file bankruptcy etc. since Good Sam and beacon merged together there’s nothing they will do about it till I supposedly pay $460. These places since covid inflation are getting plum ridiculous. Finally 10 calls later no one would answer or return my calls. Finally one day they did said well this was sent to a collection agency 11 years ago. Ok all still falls under bankruptcy. Nope not to them it doesn’t. They want the $$$ or you don’t be seen. Wow. Ok give me the collection agency name and number I’ll settle out. Nope the collection agency is no longer in business. Again pay the money or don’t be seen. This is even against the statue of limitations. They don’t care they don’t care about anything or anyone it’s all about the high $$$. Very unacceptable.

On December 3, 2021, I was seen by Dr. B at Beacon's Summit Woods office, was diagnosed and was referred to PT department. Patient was treated in PT department twice in December. The PT services performed on her were delivered negligently and functioned to substantially worsen her condition, slow her recovery, and necessitate further expensive procedures from Beacon and other third parties that would have been unnecessary under proper care. Patient has invested hours on several occasions explaining to Beacon staff members and patient advocates her experiences with the PT staff, the aggravation of her symptoms corresponding to the PT services, the additional medical procedures that were then required, and her pain and suffering. All of these communications should be available in Beacon's patient records. Patient has always acted in good faith as demonstrated by her repeated, friendly communication efforts and her stated willingness to settle this quickly by paying all but the PT-related charges (which in addition to being negligent and harmful, some of which were billed but not ever rendered to her). However, her efforts have been met with silence. No good faith effort has been made on Beacon's part to resolve her concerns or to even provide an explanation. Patient recently received new billing statement (dated 3/24/2022) for charges totaling $1,206.07. The patient’s experience with Beacon has resulted in physical and financial harm. The patient respects the doctors on Beacon's staff who she has met and believes that the charges related to the 12/3/2021 visit are justifiable. But all of the subsequent charges were driven by malpractice on the part of Beacon's PT organization and should be removed. Patient has offering by registered letter to settle the entire current bill for a total of $167.85. This is the “patient-owed” amount for the initial visit to Dr. B. No response was received from Beacon after more than two weeks.

I was referred to Beacon orthopedics to have a mass/lesion removed from my hip bone. While my orthopedic doctor doesn't think that it's cancerous it's causing an impingement, and there's no way to be completely sure that it isn't cancerous until it is removed and biopsied. I found out when I called them back to schedule an appointment that I couldn't schedule due to an old debt. I had a worker's compensation claim, and apparently worker's compensation denied to pay for my boot for my sprained ankle. When I was going through the process I was not sure if worker's compensation would pay for physical therapy, and I cancelled that. They said that there was a note that I knew worker's comp. wouldn't pay for anything, but I didn't know that. I was told from the beginning that if worker's compensation didn't pay for the boot they would run it through my insurance to see if they would pay it. I sprained my ankle in October, and moved at the end of December 2019. So they had my old address, and I never got a bill even though everything was forwarded. Beacon orthopedics has no record of ever running the bill through my insurance, and now they say it is too late to submit it to insurance. They said that they tried to call me and gave me a date in May of 2020. They supposedly left me a message because they had some questions to ask me. So from what they are telling me they tried calling me one time on one number. They called my work office number, and I never got a message. The calls were forwarded to my work cellphone because by then we were working from home because of COVID. They also were given my personal cellphone number, and my husband's phone number. I may have even gave them my work cellphone number. They had only my office number in their system. So someone either made a mistake or was lazy when they entered my information into their computer. I was told that I have to pay the entire bill before they will see me. Since insurance wasn't billed they should eat the bill.
