This past summer, I set out to get my asphalt driveway replaced. I came to the conclusion of using 2 different companies for this 1 project. One company to demo my driveway, and the other to come lay new asphalt down. My asphalt company I went with, **** *****, accepted my project, and we signed a contract on August 22nd, 2022. AND I paid my deposit that was required which was 1000 dollars. Their scope of work predicted my project to be done by the middle of November, 12-14 weeks out from August 22nd. I said fine, I understand the shortage of labor and materials in the current economy. A couple months went by and I MAYBE got 2 or 3 updates on how many projects were ahead of me. I had to call them to get answers from them, because throughout this entire process, they have called me twice for anything. One was an update, and the other was in response of the voicemail I left them in mid October stating that I would contact the police if they didn't call me back with an update because by this point, it had been 3 weeks since I heard from them. I've heard horror stories of people running off with money and not doing the work. After all of this, I apologized and we were fine. So at this point, its early November, and they tell me that I have 2 Projects ahead of me. Why it takes more than 2 days to do TWO projects I'll never understand, especially when the lady told me it takes them AT MOST 3 hours to do one project. Their excuse was that the weather was too cold to do projects. Well, if we look at the weather in November, there were SEVERAL days that it was above 50. I have another company that is telling me they can do the work tomorrow, 12/13/2022 no problem, but **** ***** can't because its too cold? And the plants all shut down this Friday. I was told in the beginning that my project would be done before the end of the year, and now they wont issue my deposit back even though its way past due of their original timeline. The contract should be void and I should get my 1000 back.
