My son in Virginia bought us two $50 gift certificates from Cleveland Independents from a Cleveland Plain Dealer link. one $50 certificate for **** **** **** **** and one $50 certificate to ******** ********** **** ******** ****. Both restaurants refused to honor the certificates and both said the same thing. They have told "her" (Cleveland Independents) to stop selling certificates over a year ago as they both declined to be in their program. My son has requested a refund and has not heard back from Cleveland Independents. Please advise if you need him to submit his payment receipt. All I have here in Brooklyn Heights is the two worthless gift certificates.Business response

Response given over phone to BBB Staff AM
I had received a note from this person probably about two weeks ago, it was not a year ago, and I immediately reached out to **** and was told that the consumer had contacted them and that they never appeared at the restaurant. I have a lengthy email from **** confirming that. I have not heard from ******** and I wrote to them three times and asked them about the situation and will continue to pursue it. But right now the situation with the consumer is that if I don't hear from ******** I would gladly give them a refund. The **** complaint is unverified and fictitious because they would have accepted the consumers gift card.
