Details: A person from phone number ###-###-#### on 12/9/2021. The person on the line claimed they were a "dispatch service" advising me (****** ******) that I was going to be summoned to appear in court for a debt. If I wanted to resolve the debt and not have a judgement placed on my credit I needed to contact ***** ****** * ********** at phone number ###-###-####. I called that number and a man named Steve Moore answered. He asked me for my name. I gave him my name. Then he stated a judgment was going to be issued if I didn't settle the account within 7 days to stop court proceedings. He claimed my case number was *********** That the amount being collected was for $2016.00 and he would accept a settlement of $997.34 if made by credit or debit card. Believing it was for a creditor I currently have in collections for $2995, I gave them my credit card and paid them $997.34 on that same day 12/9/2021. Then they emailed me a fake confirmation docu-sign showing the debt to be settled and paid. On December 15th 2021, I contacted the original creditor because they sent me an email stating I owed them $2995. When I called the collection number for the creditor I owe to tell them about the settlement, they stated they did not sell my file to ***** ****** * ********** nor a company called ******* ********** **** In addition, they stated the original creditor was not "******* ****** *****". I have NEVER done business with this creditor or bank. I later found out that "******* ****** *****" is a fake credit union these fraudsters are using to fraudulently collect money on fake collection accounts. In addition, this company was running this scam previously and but were collecting funds under the fraudulent name "** ********** ***". I called my bank and reported this transaction as fraud in hopes that after a proper fraud investigation, this money will be placed back on my account. I was advised by my financial institution to also file a complaint with the BBB as well.
