I can't understand the usage I am charge for. I am gone 10 to 11 hours every day, don't run air conditioning during the summer and live alone. My gas, water and electric combined in a 2600 Sq foot house was less than I am paying for a 1000 Sq ft apartment.Nationwide Energy Partners, LLC Response

Hello ****,Thank you for your review and giving us the opportunity to address your concerns. We value your experience as a resident of a Nationwide Energy Partners (NEP) partner community. Comparing usage and utility bills between a single-family home and an apartment is not straightforward. Although a units size is a consideration, many variables can impact usage in a unit. Some examples include location, weather, insulation, construction quality, appliance efficiency, heating/cooling efficiency, personal habits, etc. Consider also that electricity rates have risen significantly over the past several years, further disqualifying a valid comparison between single-family homes and multifamily dwellings energy bills during different periods.Another specific example is many apartment communities in **** utilize electric heat pump ************* meaning both the heating and cooling in the unit are provided by electricity. Heat pumps can create significant power draws in winter to maintain thermostat set points. That power usage would simply not occur in a single-family home using a gas furnace. Given these many variables, we cannot speculate on what is using electricity in your unit, but we will share how we measure usage and ensure those measurements are accurate. NEP individually meters and bills each unit in the multifamily communities we serve. We charge only for the metered usage in your unit. NEP also employs state-of-the-art industrial meters. These meters are rigorously tested for accuracy before they leave the manufacturing facility and have proven highly reliable. We also monitor and review meter data regularly to ensure veracity. Over our 25 years of operations, we have carried out hundreds of meter tests, and third-party testing companies found every meter tested accurately. Finally, NEP always bills at a rate that is at or below what the local utility would charge for the same usage amount. You can verify this rate for yourself by visiting the ************************************ Utility Rate Survey Dashboard (******************************************************************************)If you have any further questions or would like assistance with the Utility Rate Survey Dashboard, please call our resident support team at ************, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. EST.Thank you,Nationwide Energy PartnersReview from Kylee D

I was not informed my property was apart of a class action lawsuit involving NEP. The suit is caused from raising rates, because they own the property we rent from. My bill is $225+ for an apartment. We are gone 8+ hours a day. Wish we could go back to AEP, as it was considerably less for the same square footage. I will never EVER live anywhere that has NEP again. Paying $59 extra for fixed rates as if they aren't up charging the usage as is!Review from Jessie S

Hello ******, We sincerely value your experience as a resident of a Nationwide Energy Partners (NEP) partner community. We want to take a moment to address your review and clear up any misunderstandings. First, any implication that NEP overcharges by billing at a rate greater than the host utilitys all-in residential rate or is in any way a scam is factually incorrect. NEP never charges at a rate exceeding the local utilitys rate for the same usage. You can verify your rate for yourself by visiting the *************************** of Ohios Utility Rate Survey Dashboard (******************************************************************************) Your complaint suggests that your monthly energy bill for your one-bedroom unit is over $300. In reviewing your account, it is correct that you recently received a $300+ bill. However, this bill was not for just your electricity usage, nor a single month. At the propertys request, NEP provides your communitys residents with a unified bill. A unified bill means you pay more than just electricity services through a single bill. NEP bills electricity, ************** and community charges in your community. A unified bill does not alter the amount a resident pays for these services, as described in the residents lease agreement with the property. A closer look at your August bill shows a $76.07 charge for electricity, a $33.41 water and sewer charge, and a $30 community charge. So, your total bill for all three services on your August bill was about $140. Unfortunately, your August bill includes the previous months charges of $145.40, as they were not paid on time, and a resulting $20 late fee penalty. In other words, the $300+ bill covers two months, three different services (electricity, ************** and community), and a late fee.If you have questions or additional concerns about your account, please call our resident support experts at ************, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. EST.Sincerely,Nationwide Energy PartnersReview from Maria G

This company is a complete scam I moved to a cheaper apartment. The new complex uses this company and I have never seen a electric bill this expensive I have called them and they keep telling me that the readings are correct which I find hard to believe when I have had my electric off for over a month now and it’s still high. My bill is over 300.00 and they don’t offer a payment plan or nothing. I need help to get out of this company and be able to go to another one that is cheaper and not a scamReview from Marie H

This company is a scam. They don't provide a service they are just a middle man between you and the power company. They charge more than the actual power company does. Why can't I do business directly with AEP?Nationwide Energy Partners, LLC Response

Hi Marie, We genuinely value your input and experience as a resident of a Nationwide Energy Partners (NEP) partner community. Although we appreciate your frustrations at the current cost of electricity, any implication that NEP bills at a rate greater than the host utility’s all-in residential rate is incorrect. NEP is contractually obligated to never charge at a rate exceeding the local utility’s rate for the same usage. In other words, we bill at a rate that is the same or less than what AEP would have charged you for the same usage amount. You can verify this rate for yourself by visiting the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio’s Utility Rate Survey Dashboard (https://puco.ohio.gov/utilities/electricity/resources/ohio-utility-rate-survey) In multifamily communities, the property owner selects the best energy option for the residents in their community over the long term. Given the desire to attract and maintain renters, many owners choose the dependability of an energy services expert like NEP who is accountable to the host utility’s rates. In addition to billing services, NEP brings many benefits to the property, including carbon-free energy at no additional cost to the residents. By making this choice, the property owner simplifies the residents’ decision-making process and ensures each resident is being billed accurately and fairly for their energy use by legitimate companies. Marie, we hope this explanation is helpful. If you have additional questions or need further explanation, please do not hesitate to contact our resident support experts at 877-818-2637, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 6:00 pm EST. This company is charging egregious amounts for their electric in the New Albany Rd corridor. My bill went from $120 this time last year to almost $300 this month for the same usage and this is for a 1 bedroom, 700 sqft apartment. Others in my area with a two bedroom received a bill for $800. Absolutely ridiculous and they should be investigated by the state for scamming and taking advantage of their customers.Review from karen s

I moved into an apartment complex that uses Nationwide Energy Partners LLC, unfortunately the apartment complex only allows this company. I'm regularly being charged $200 or more for my electric bill a month. I live alone and work nearly 12 hr days. My thermastat is never set higher than 68 degrees if it's even set at all. I don't leave anything running while I'm gone. I do my laundry once every 3 weeks. Rarely eat at home to run dishes. Im so busy I don't use my TV or have time to play a game system. Other than my TV the only thing hooked up to a power outlet is my wifi router. No exaggeration I'm barely home and might have a lightbulb on for maybe 3 hrs before bed when I do get home. My bill being nearly $200 or more makes no sense to me. This company should be investigated. My apartment is maybe 1000 sq ft. My parents who live 25 mins away and have two of my brothers living with them, one who is a hardcore gamer who plays 24.7 live in a 4000 sq foot house with 3 levels and heat it at 68 degrees also. All sorts of electronic devices, computers, and TVs running at once. Their electric bill is nearly half of mine when I'm not even home due to my crazy work hours. I can't wrap my head around how much my bill would be if I was actually home or had a day off. Something is extremely off about this company. I'm suspicious I'd they are fudging the meter numbers. I've seen the rare positive reviews of this company but I'm sure they are fake reviews. Who goes out of their way to review a billing company especially when they overcharge. My parents have AEPReview from Sylvia O

This is a scam. A legal scam, but it’s a scam. A family member of mine lives in an apartment complex down the street. They don’t use NEP, they have AEP and have a much bigger apartment than me and pay half of what I pay. I wasn’t here for days and they charged me more than usual by almost $200. Water was like $78 for one person and one bedroom. I barely use water. Their prices are exponentially higher than AEP. They are adding fictitious charges. All these complaints and this scamming company is operating with impunity. I will force a meter test monthly and then I’m filing a lawsuit. The scam has to stop!
