I am filing this complaint regarding Root Insurance’s handling of my payment and the subsequent suspension of my vehicle registration.

On 4/24/2024, I processed a payment that was registered on the same day. There appears to have been an increase in my premium, which led to an additional payment being processed on 4/26/2024. However, insurance records indicate that a payment was processed on 4/25/2024.

All payments were made on time, with no lapse in coverage. Despite this, on 7/26/2024, Root Insurance issued a request to suspend my vehicle registration, citing non-payment. This action was unjustified, as my payment records clearly show that all payments were completed within the appropriate timeframes, and there was no lapse in coverage.

I have made several attempts to resolve this issue with Root, yet I am still waiting to hear back from a supervisor. It also appears that my Letter of Experience (LOE) has not been processed, leaving me with no resolution. This situation has caused significant disruption, as I rely on my vehicle for commuting long distances to work.

Despite making all required insurance payments, I was subjected to the suspension of my registration, leading to my being pulled over by law enforcement.

Thank you for your email regarding my complaint against Root (Complaint ID ********). I appreciate your assistance in this matter.

I am writing to provide additional information and further clarify my position. The ongoing issue with Root has caused significant inconvenience and hardship. Due to the mishandling of this situation by the company and its associates, I have experienced the following:

Pulled Over: I have been subjected to being pulled over while driving, which has caused unnecessary stress and anxiety.

Vehicle: My vehicle is my only means of transportation, and the issues with Root have forced me to not use my car in fear of being pulled over.

Work: As a result, I have been unable to work, as the distance from my home to my workplace is over an hour, and there are no alternative transportation options such as ride-sharing available.

Loss of Wages: This situation has led to a significant loss of wages, affecting my financial stability. Based on my average hourly rate of $26.47 at 40 hours a week, my average monthly earnings from 7/26/2024 to 10/18/2024 would have been approximately $4,234.40 per month. Over the three-month period, this totals to a loss of $12,703.20.

I believe that Root has not shown a sense of urgency to resolve the matter that they created. Their lack of timely action and communication has only exacerbated the issues I have faced.

Attached are copies of the communication I received from Root, as well as my written explanation detailing why I disagree with their response.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. I hope for a prompt resolution and assistance from the BBB in addressing this issue with Root.

      Regards,

My auto insurance provider lied to me that, "In *****, per Texas law, taxes and fees are not owed in the case of a total loss settlement." And, they are not including dealer fees and taxes in my total loss payout. Plus, they are lowballing the value of our car by $******* policy says, "actual cash value" or "cost to repair or replace". Actual Cash Value (ACV) simply means replacement costs minus depreciation, not minus taxes and fees. Replacement costs include taxes and dealer fees. It does not mean that Root gets to stick it to me like this.I asked my claims representative to get me in touch with a supervisor, but never got a call back. I need help to resolve this matter properly.

I was in a car accident on 06/28/24. The person responsible has Root insurance who has continued to give me the run around for 3 months. They totaled and picked up my car 2 months ago and have yet to resolve the claim nor have they contacted the bank. I continue to make my car payments without having the car and am unable to purchase another vehicle until this is resolved.

As of the 19th of September my car had been declared a total loss. Since that time , communication with my insurer has been nonexistent. My car was picked up on the 23rd. America First, the lienholder, has been contacted once since the car was declared a total loss. Since the 22nd when they receive paperwork to obtaining to get information to pay off the loan they have never contacted myself or America First. I currently have absolutely no idea when the loan will get paid off.Or when I will receive payment for my portion of my vehicle. I also have no idea when I should expect to hear back from anyone handling my insurance claim. I was promised they would call back on the 25th and have still not heard back and it is the 30th. I was once again promised they would call me back in the next 1-2 business days and it is currently the 30th.

It has now been a month since my original claim was filed. While I've been paid the credit union that holds my car loan hasn't been paid despite the fact that payment was supposedly issued to myself and the credit union on the same day.

As a result interest has continued to incur on my loan.

Possession of the vehicle has already been transferred to a company that sells spare parts. Due to the fact that neither my insurer or that company hold title to the car transfer no actual transfer of ownership has occurred.

Since January the *** sent me letters for each vehicle at that time there were 7 that did not have insurance I spoke to the company that I have Root insurance and their response was that they had already sent the papers to the dmv that were needed but every month the same thing happened and I have never stopped paying the insurance

and in May a root agent spoke with the ranger of Nevada and supposedly everything was fine, but it was not so, the same letters came back and I was stopped by a policeman telling me that my places were suspended. I went to the *** and their response was that I had to talk to the ranger and I had already done it but nothing has been solved and the dmv wants to charge me fines for each vehicle and I don't think it is fair because I have never stopped paying the insurance.

I had my car vandalized at work on 6/12, put a claim in that same day for the car and was considered totaled not long after.. ever since the car was deemed totaled I havent received any response from the company or my specific adjuster. Ive called and put complaints into their customer service lines multiples times now and just been told someone will call you.. I just want this closed out and at this point I think its more than fair for them to pay all the payments and insurance on the car they deemed totaled months ago that Ive had to pay in absence of the them actually working with me to close the contract out.
