I am writing to formally dispute the inaccurate credit score information your company provided, which resulted in my denial for an apartment at ***** ***** ****** Despite resolving the issue with the credit bureaus and providing proof of the corrected credit report, AmRent has refused to accept this documentation or take any corrective action. This is both frustrating and unacceptable. I paid a total of $150 in fees for my application and apartment hold. Per the agreement, I am entitled to a $50 refund if denied, but I have yet to receive this. Furthermore, I believe the $100 non-refundable fee is unjustly withheld due to the misinformation provided by your company, and I am asking for a full refund of this amount as well. I have been given the run-around in my attempts to address this, and it’s disheartening that AmRent, which has a 1-star Better Business Bureau rating, would prioritize inaccurate data over customer service. It is concerning that apartment complexes, such as ***** ***** *****, rely on AmRent’s reports when they are clearly flawed, with little recourse for applicants to correct mistakes. I request immediate action to resolve this issue, including a refund of my $100 fee and rectifying your report with the correct information. Failure to address this matter will leave me no choice but to escalate this dispute through legal avenues and consumer protection agencies

Please accept this response to the complaint we received regarding ******* ***** on 10/22/2024. We spoke with Ms. ***** on 10/24/2024 to discuss her concerns. During our conversation, we explained the different scoring models to her.  Additionally, we submitted a dispute to TransUnion on her behalf. Results of the investigation will be mailed to her upon receipt.   Ms. ***** will need to contact our client, ******* ***** ***** ***** to discuss application fees and refunds as AmRent does not collect fees from consumers.  AmRent maintains a database of criminal record information and resells credit and eviction information from other consumer reporting agencies. AmRent sells consumer reports to landlords and property management companies that have a permissible purpose under the Fair Credit Reporting Act to access this information.

Per our research, Mr. ****** submitted a similar complaint to the CFPB on 1/11/2024. Based on his
initial CFPB complaint, AmRent called Mr. ****** and explained that we did not have an AmRent report
that had been accessed by a client of AmRent, but that we would generate his criminal record report from
our database and send it to him. Mr. ****** requested everything be sent in writing and ended call.

On 1/11/2024, we mailed Mr. ****** a copy of his AmRent criminal record report, which did not contain
      any records.

I applied for an apartment through S&S Property Management Of Peoria. I was denied the apartment because of a credit report that was received from AmRent. The report says current file address does not match input address. ...I've lived at *** ** **** ** for 7 years. I receive mail from the U.S. Postal Service at that address. The report says no employment records found, i've been working for Peoria Public Schools since 2000. AmRent list my last place of employment as Peoria Fire Department, that was in the 80's. I'm so confused by this company. i'They'v caused problems for others as well.

      Dear ******* ****:

Please accept this response to the complaint we received regarding Ms. **** on 11/29/2022. We researched the consumer’s request through our processing system, and were unable to locate any previous correspondence or contact from Ms. ****. We attempted to contact her by phone on 12/2 and 12/5 to discuss her concerns, but were unable to reach her.

Per her complaint, we have disputed information with TransUnion on her behalf.  TransUnion is a Consumer Reporting Agency that maintains a database of consumer information as reported by its data furnishers, who are primarily auto dealers and finance companies, banks, credit unions, mortgage companies, retailers, student loan providers, public records and more.  If TransUnion does not have current personal information being reported for her, she may want to contact her creditors and ensure they have up to date information on her.  Results of the investigation from TransUnion will be mailed to her upon completion. If she has additional questions, she can contact us directly at ************ from 8 am to 5 pm ET.

AmRent provides consumer reports to landlords and property management companies that have a permissible purpose under the Fair Credit Reporting Act to access this information. AmRent maintains a database of criminal record information and resells credit and eviction information from other Consumer Reporting Agencies.
