First I like to acknowledge that this complaint is not against the maintenance workers, they are good guys, every morning they walk the complex picking up trash thrown on the ground by other tenants. Nor against the other two office workers. This complaint is directly attributed to one particular light skinned black woman there. On July 1st I came home from a 10 hour shift at work. She's outside and flags me down for the 2nd time. She says that I am getting evicted for June and July's rent. She than adds $200 for filing the eviction, and $200 for pet lste fees. This is the 3rd month in a row that I have explicitly wrote pet fees on money orders and rent on money orders. I paid June's rent already but she said she wasn't accepting it. Every month, I paid this pet fee, she sends a notice what I owe and I pay it. She said the money order for pet fees was added to the rent. For 3 months she has pulled this scam, i psy the pet fees and rent but i always owe $200 more for 3 months now. This is the 4th month and she pulled the sam scam again. Now remember this is the 1st of July. I asked for my money orders back, she said the office is closed. I haven't received anything from the courts or a eviction notice. I still haven't received June's rent back. I paid July's rent and still haven't heard anything. I refuse to pay this lady another $200 to shove into her pockets. This is the same lady who aggressively berated my daughter over a 10 pound shitz shu, while other tenants have pit bulls. I have even told a fellow employee about how the apartments here nice with balconies. After he moved in he complained to me how rude she is. I have been here for almost 5yrs and since her arrival I have had nothing bit regrets for not leaving. I was in Dayton when these apartments were first built and had always wanted to live here. I have no desire to sign another lease as long as she is here. This complaint is not against Meadows of Catalpa, maintenance, or office workers, JUST HER!!!Customer Response

How can Meadows of Catalpa demand I pay for a eviction process, when I haven't received anything from the courts. They supposedly filed for June and July on the 1st, and July was paid on the 5th as of there policy. I'm not picking up doctored paperwork to cover up there misappropriation of funds. Makes me wonder if the Hamburgerler is running the whole operation here. Renters beware!Customer Response

Was contacted by Ashley in the office today. She told me that there is no one above her to settle any disputes, and that there is no one to contact above her. What kind of crazy talk is on. Even the President of the United States answers to someone. Warning to all...Meadows of Catalpa's management is completely incompetent.Review from Lucas D

These are the worst apartments youll ever live in the plumbing here is the worst the toilets barely flush the streets have tons of potholes and the sidewalks have chunks missing whats even worse they have the dumptruck company come once a week and the dumpster gets full in two days after being dumped so it constantly smells here they also have issues with people breaking into cars people have tried multiple times to break into my car luckily i have an alarm on my vehicle but the office ladies have been notified of these issues they were rude about it but ultimately said theyd look into it but yet it still seems to happen they clearly dont care about the ongoing issues and dont seem to care because its clearly not happening to them so this isnt on the top of their list of things to look into or improve avoid this place at all costs look elsewhereReview from Alyssa R

The unprofessionalism of the people working in the main office is unacceptable. If you would like to live in a clean, well managed place I would continue to look as you will not find it here as every experience my family and I have had with management is unpleasant. For one example my dog, as my guest and I were leaving, had slipped past us out the door and started to use the restroom while we were trying to catch her and two women from what I assume is the main office had driven by and seen. I had never met them or seen them before so when they had stopped I thought they were residents as well. They had stopped to ask me if I lived there, and at no point did they try to introduce themselves or make it clear they worked at the office. I responded yes and with an attitude they were trying to figure out which unit I lived in specifically, I being confused who they were was giving vague answers all while trying to catch my dog. At this point a little concerned for my well being the situation escalated with the woman in the front driver seat getting out of the car and starting to yell at me. Again at no point had they tried to tell me who they were. They were yelling at me telling me that I need to clean up after my dog which I do but she had SLIPPED PAST MY GUEST and I didn’t have time to grab any bags. Not a singular time durning this conversation did they rationally or calmly talk to me to figure out what was happening. After yelling at me she had turned to my guest who was standing in shock with how they were conducting themselves she rudely demanded to know if she lived here. The whole situation was beyond unprofessional and disappointing. As someone who has lived here for over 5 years you would hope they would have people who conduct themselves professionally.Meadows of Catalpa Response

On 2/5/2024 while going back to the office from a tour. Office staff witnessed an individual on the property with a pet running loose. Office staff did state the position with the company before following up with the concern. Proper procedure is to ask if the person lives on the property as we live across from condos who often walk their pets on the property as well. After the individual stated that she lives on the property, office staff asked if she’s the lease holder. The individual stated she’s not the lease holder. At that time office staff informed her that the residence would be receiving a notice for an unauthorized pet on the premises. She was also asked in the meantime to please clean up the feces of the pet as that is a requirement of every tenant and neighboring property walking pets on the premises. At no time were voices raised in the conversation. Once staff informed the individual of the notice being sent out that’s when she stated she would not pick up the feces. Staff continued to the office and followed the proper next steps. Highlighted on page 6,24, and page 26 are all policies of the property that have always been in place. After this resident received a notice of a fine, the lease holder came into the office the morning of 2/6. He stated the breed of the dog. Office staff explained to him the reason for the notice and rules for pets on the property. The lease holder stated that he would be moving the dog to his kid’s mother’s house. Soon after the conversation on 2/6/2024 is when a BBB complaint was entered. This is a policy of all tenants not just this specific residence.
