An IGS Energy representative came to my condo on 6/8/2022 and mislead me about reason for their visit. They said that Columbia Gas of OH mistakenly changed my gas supplier recently to an out of state supplier and IGS was there to correct by signing me up for local gas service. IGS asked me to log into my Columbia Gas account to get my account number and then switched me to IGS Energy. They did not tell me it was for a fixed rate for 3 year contract and that there was a $99 cancellation fee if I wanted to cancel nor did they inform me of the 3 day grace period to cancel the contract. I was on vacation until 6/20/22 so was not aware of the grace period but when I returned and did some more research I found that Columbia Gas did not recently change my gas supplier to out of state supplier. The IGS rep also did not show me a clear contract or forms they had me sign since they were using ipad in sun and hard to see anything. IGS Energy is trying to scam older people in condos with lies about their current Columbia Gas service and that should not be allowed to continue. Please help in cancelling the IGS Energy contract without my having to pay cancellation fee since they lied to me about the circumstances and did not inform me that they signed me for such an extended contract.Business response

Better Business Bureau:
I accept the business's response to resolve this complaint.IGS indicated they will cancel the 3 year contract and waive the fees so I can return to my original service with Columbia Gas of Ohio. The marketing manager also indicated that they will discipline the rep for his conduct and insure the rep does not provide misleading information in future.

Satisfactory Solution:
Cancel the IGS Energy contract without my having to pay cancellation $99 fee since they misrepresented
the Columbia Gas circumstances. I want to return to the Columbia Gas default supplier.

I am a customer of Peoples Natural Gas. I recently received an online notice thru the Peoples Website stating that IGS Energy was taking over the role of Gas supplier for my home. I never changed my supplier. I would never change to a supplier that charges double my charges and add a $99 fee to opt out. I never contacted IGS Energy. I never received an Email from IGS energy stating that I change to their service. I never received a Contract from IGS energy. I was completely saisfied with Peoples / Dominion Natural Gas Services Fees and charges. I do not want IGS Energy as my Supplier. Attorney General of PA Josh S is being notified.Business response

Good Morning,
IGS purchased Dominion East Ohio Energy accounts. IGS will be honoring the terms of the Dominion East of Ohio contract.
Per the call the customer made to IGS the account is being cancelled. There was no early termination fee with this account.
Attached you will find a copy of the letter mailed in April informing of the purchase.

Just received my bill from the illuminating company and I noticed there is a charge from Igs Energy… why is the Illuminating company charging me $80 and on top of that a company called Igs Energy is also charging me $95?? Why are they double charging me!!? I never signed up to be scammed. Please help.Business response

Please call our customer service number at 800-280-4474, they can review your IGS enrollment with you.
Your utility is billing you for deliver and IGS is billing you for the supply of your electric or gas. You always have these two charges. Once you sign up with a supplier the charges are broken out.

came to my house in april promsed cheaper energy costs that was a lie for my electric the going rate was .0543 per kwh they charged me .0899 the sales person also enrolled me in some kind of insurance that i told him i had no need for i canceled the program with 10 days they continued to bill me exaggerated pricing for another month they admitted that the sales person did not come to my house and say would you like to sign up for a program that would cost me more money he lied and know they want me to pay for his lies also did not give me any copies of any program to read witch is against their rules i just want what is owed me because the agreement was based on lies by there sales person its is the right thing to do and they refuse they took advantage of me a senior citizen why would i sign up for a program that would cost me a lot more money if they took advantage of your mother or father as they did to me you would do the same as i am doing please stop the illegal practices of this dishonest company befoer many more seniors are ripped offBusiness response

IGS sent proof of the home energy sale made on March 31, 2022 for both the gas and electric to the PUCO on May 31, 2022. You will also fine proof of enrollment attached. IGS does show the customer opened the welcome emailed sent on March 31, this email states the rates as well.

Customer called IGS on 4/29/2022 and cancelled both products stating he could not afford. The IGS agent canceled both services and waived ETF. The customer then called back on 5/27/2022 wanting a credit for the electric bill we appeared on. IGS advised we would not credit, we must allow the utility time to make the change.Thank You,

Switched to IGS after I was told I would save money. NOT! My bill went up $100/month and I was told there would be a $99 early termination fee. Was straight up lied to by the salesman that pushed us to switch. They are charging a rate much higher rate ($0.0859) than AEP's price of $0.052 per kWh.Business response

Jan 2022 account no, 7317116 IGS Energy rep. came to our apt door. said it was not a change of electric co. but updating our information, we are an older couple, new to apt living and thought that perhaps this is how they keep track of apt. residents. we recieved our bill, and it was double@!! being on a fixed income, we were dumb struck. called the company immediately to cancel, and were told we would have to pay $99.00 MORE dollars to cancel. we understand such charges but feel we were mislead. we even inquired of the young man if this was to change our current company and he assured us it was not. thank you ***** *********Business response

We was lied to numerous times ! We were told when signing up that we would save 1000s of dollars a year and told me I would no longer be paying ANY rider or delivery fees on my energy bill .. after 4 months of me calling and complaining to ***** my rep he kept saying he would handle it and it never got handled and I got tired of dealing with it so I canceled the service … well here I am a year later almost and I’m still paying for it and can’t get in touch with anyone at IgS to be refunded or to even get it off my electric at allBusiness response

An energy agent lied to me, stating my rates would be the same if not lower; however, I received my bill and now my rates for both electric and gas are doubled and the company is refusing to do anything about it. In fact, they are completely disregarding the fact their agent lied to me and are trying to say I can cancel but it will cost me $100 each line I cancel, taking 0 accountability for their agent lying to my face. It's common sense, no one in their right mind would agree to something that doubles their bills. He lied, its unethical and the company not doing anything about it is even worse.
