On 6/15/22 I used this company. I had previously used them in 08/21 without incident. I was quoted for this move a maximum $670 for 4 to 5 hrs. It included labor, truck, gas. The quote was close to what I previously paid them to move in 8/21, which took a little less than 4 hrs. This time I paid an extra $50 for $500 insurance. This move took 11 hrs and ended up costing us $945 with a "discount" calculated to 7 hrs plus fees. The movers were extremely slow, the heat the day we moved given as a reason. Carlos, their mngr, communicated that we had more items than the prior move. This is unjustified because we had only 3 additional pieces of small bedroom furniture. A dresser, standing dresser and twin bed. This doesn't justify 6 more physical hrs. It would have equated to having double the amount of items. We were specific about items we had. The UHaul truck they used was for a smaller apt, required 2 trips because we were moving from a 3 bed. The movers didn't finish until almost 10pm after starting at 9:45am. Boxes and small furniture placed in front of our sectional sofa. It wasnt until the next morning after I began moving items away from the sectional sofa that I noticed it had been damaged. My husband contacted Carlos via email with photos of the damage along with feedback of dissatisfaction of the move. There was no accountability for anything that went wrong or any true justification made for how long the move took. Carlos also refused to allow us to file an insurance claim for damages to the sofa. He said the contract states that we would have to had inspected EVERYTHING before the movers left. Highly unreasonable and unrealistic. Who is going to open every box and dig to inspect furniture before they leave? I feel like extra time was taken to inflate the moving cost as well as the use of a smaller truck to take longer. The insurance is bogus, just a way to squeeze extra money by using unreasonable stipulations as excuses so they never have to pay it out.
