We wish to report this company's actions and behavior. In February of 2024, Jidd Motors Mitsubishi, *** **** **** *** *******, Illinois hired Smarttrans logistics of Ohio to pick up a 2022 Toyota 4runner n February 16, 2024 at their sister store countryside Mitsubishi 5800 S ******** ** in ******** Illinois and deliver it on february 17 2024 to a customer in Wilmington Ohio named ****** *****.
The vehicle was picked up by Smarttrans on the appointed day but was not delivered to the customer on february 17, 2024 Instead the transport vehicle had an accident in ******* and the trailer with the 2022 Toyota in it was taken too a place called ********* wrecker service and we were given an address of *** ********* **, ********* ******* Smartrans gave us a certificate of liability insurance a copy of which is attached.
The information given to us by Smarttrans was untrue. The transport vehicle was not covered by the Certificate of liability insurance they gave us. The VIN of the trailer was not covered by the policy and the trailer was not owned by smarttrans. The trailer was owned by a company called EAN holdings and was taken to a lot in *********, *******, not *********.
By the time we tracked the trailer and our vehicle down, someone, "the owner" of the trailer, had claimed the trailer and its contents and paid cash for the storage. The toyota was later tracked down in Ohio and we were able to recover it. It had been badly damaged in the accident.
Repeated calls to smarttrans lead nowhere. The phone either was not answered, or answered by someone who said we had to talk to the claims department or the owner, neither of whom were in. We left oour contact information, but noone ever called us back. For the past several weeks, noone has answered the phone at all.
This company:
- Gave us false insurance information.
- Failed to tell us about our vehicle being damaged when their uninsured trailer was involved in a crash.
- When they did report the accident they gave us false information about the location of our vehicle.
- They removed our vehicle from the wreckers lot in ******* and too it to ohio apparently to the home of our customer and tried to make him take a wrecked car again without telling us.
- They are refusing to give us any insurance information We have no idea about the trailer that was involved in the crash or whether they were even covered by insurance as they claimed.
- They have refused to take any responsibility at all for wrecking our vehicle and then trying to make our customer accept it.
We want them to pay for the damage and loss of value to our vehicle, but we also want to put a warning out there about this irresponsible transport company, so that other auto dealers and their customers are not duped.
