I was interested in becoming a trucker and starting my own business. A friend of mine told me about 160 Driving Academy and I had looked into going there for trucking school. I was told by one of their representatives that I would have to pay out of pocket expenses of $4,595. I agreed to pay the amount and decided to attend their driving academy. I started on December 9th 2022. It was supposed to be a 4 week program. The first 2 weeks weren't bad. Once we start doing our in truck driving classes I noticed that the Caucasian people in the class were getting special treatment but when it came to me my instructor was always mean, didn't provided me with helpful information as I overheard him providing to my peers. I brought this to managements position and they said that they would talk to the instructor. A few days went by and things were getting worse and not progressing for me. The following week while I was out driving with my instructor, I got pulled over by the police and received a ticket. When we got back to the school I was told that I would not be able to come back until I went to court and got the ticket issue resolved. When I went to court and found out that the Judge had dismissed my ticket because of me being a student. I went back to the school to let them know and was told I was kicked out. I had no points on my driving record and the ticket was dismissed and was still told that they were keeping my money and I wouldn't be able to graduate from trucking school. When I asked about a refund they called the police on me as if I was in the wrong. I would like my money back as I was unable to complete the program.Business response

This student was dropped from the program after 160 hours of training. The student was dropped after receiving two interventions regarding unsafe acts while operating a truck. The first incident was for using his phone while operating the truck, as well as speeding through a school zone. This incident occurred on 1/18/2023. Two days later, on 1/20/2023, ****** was pulled over and ticketed by the police for driving 34 MPH in a 20 MPH zone. This was a violation of 160 Driving Academy’s Standards of Conduct Policy, as outlined in the student’s enrollment agreement. Also outlined in the student’s enrollment agreement is 160 Driving Academy’s withdrawal, refund, and cancellation policy. This policy states that “a student who starts class and withdraws after the academic term is 40% completed will not be entitled to a refund of the tuition and fees for the current academic term”. ****** Adomako signed receipt and acknowledgement of these policies on 12/9/2022 before beginning our program on 12/12/2022. In accordance with 160 Driving Academy’s withdrawal, refund, and cancellation policy, this student is not eligible for a refund.
