          State of Ohio v 1st Pick Home Improvement, LLC and Cowans Home Improvement, LLC and Aaron Cowans - 22CV003512

          The following describes a government action that has been resolved by either a settlement or a decision by a court or administrative agency. If the matter is being appealed, it will be noted below.

          On May 24, 2022, the Ohio Attorney General's Office filed a civil lawsuit in Franklin County Common Pleas Court against defendants Aaron Cowans, 1st Pick Home Improvement, LLC, and Cowans Home Improvement, LLC, alleging they  failed to deliver goods and services, failed to make a full refund when requested, and performed shoddy work, in violation of Consumer Sales Practices Act and the Home Solicitation Sales Act. A final judgement and entry order on May 1, 2023, stated that the defendants in some cases provided shoddy and unworkmanlike home improvement goods and services, accepted consumer money but then didn't deliver or offer refunds or alternatives due to delays, and failed to provide proper notice of consumer cancellation rights, and ordered the defendants to pay $92,304.67 in consumer damages and $75,000 in civil penalties, and prohibited the defendants from doing business in Ohio until all ordered payments are satisfied.
